Author's Notes:

Thank you for reading, this story is also on Quoth The Warbler but after I have finished the first part of the story I want to continue it outside of Dalton so i figured that it would be best to start uploading it onto this website as well. Enjoy!!!

“Everyone! I'd like to introduce you to Kurt. Kurt Hummel, he's just transferred here from McKinley and will be joining The Warblers. He's also going to be boarding with us in Browning house so you'd better all be on you're best behaviour, let him settle in with as little drama as possible.” Said Blaine smiling encouragingly at me

I'll be honest I was a little nervous about coming to Dalton, I felt awful leaving everyone in the New Directions but it wasn't safe there anymore and I wasn't happy, I want high school to be enjoyable and the only way that was going to happen was if I came here, even if that meant Burt and Carole wouldn't have a honeymoon.

“Nice to meet you Kurt!” said someone loudly grabbing my hand and shaking it enthusiastically, “My name is Richard, and my room is just across the corridor from yours!”

“Ok, easy Rich. A bit too enthusiastic I think” says Wes hitting his back lightly and coming to stand next to me

I chuckle lightly before turning back to Blaine who seemed lost in thought slightly, I wave my hand in front of his face and he jumps back to normal

“Oh sorry, do you want to take your bags up to your room and unpack?” He asks smiling charmingly

“Yeah ok, they're just out the-“ I'm stopped by another boy walking through the large doors with a girl behind him, she is not wearing the Dalton uniform so I guess she must be another new boarder

“Ok, everyone listen up!” Exclaims the boy, “This is Charlotte, she is going to be boarding with us from now on after transferring from McKinley High School, she might also be joining the Warblers if I can convince her.”

A chuckle erupts around the room as the girl blushes, she pushes a strand of her long dark brown hair out of her face and I catch a glimpse of her bright emerald eyes. I watch Richard go straight over to her and introduce himself the same way he did with me, she smiles politely before turning to take in the rest of the room, her eyes land on me and she looks a little shocked. I'm almost certain she is going to come over and talk to me but before she get's the chance, she is dragged away by the same boy as before.

“Do you often get new students?” I ask Blaine as we collect my bags from the hall and start pulling them up the grand staircase

“Not really, in fact most new people don't come into this house at all, we are a bit of a dangerous house to start off in apparently, in fact you were only put in Browning because you knew me! Which room are you again? 12 right?”

I nod and we push open the door where I take in the look of the small room, there is one small bed by the wall with a bedside table next to it. On the right of this arrangement there is a medium sized wardrobe with its doors already open ready to be filled. On the far side of the room, next to a desk is another door that must lead to the bathroom.

“It's not the biggest room in the house but at least you don't have to share it” says Blaine, “You can do whatever you want for the rest of the day, you're even allowed off campus, lucky you as the rest of us has classes, on weekends you are allowed to leave the grounds too but only then, lights out is at 10 each night other than that you have the rest of the day to redecorate, if you want you can call someone to come and help you set up or to bring you anything you'll need. I would help but as I said I've got classes all day. I'd better run actually. If you need anything the house captain has the day free, his room is number 23, just upstairs. I'll come check on you later, bye”

With this he disappears slinging his brown bag over his shoulder and smiling one last time at me. I smile slightly before turning to look at all my stuff piled up in front of me.

“What am I going to do with all this” I mutter to myself

Meanwhile, somewhere just down the corridor, Charlotte is having just the same problem. After being left by Christopher, the boy that had been showing her around, who had classes, she felt completely helpless. She had been through a lot in her lifetime and was honestly nervous to be at such a well known school.

Before transferring to Dalton she had been living with her mum, Jenny. When she was 3 Charlottes mum had taken Charlotte away from her dad and two brothers to England where she had been brought up. On her 10th birthday Jenny seemed to suddenly decide to move back to America, they lived in a small house on the west side of Ohio and then gone to high school at McKinley.

When Charlotte started her second year at McKinley, he mum started to dink more, she lost her job and spent any money they had left on drugs and alcohol. One night her mum came home late, past 1 in the morning. Charlotte heard the front door close and went downstairs to see if her mother was ok. That was the first time Jenny ever hit Charlotte, the abuse continued until one day she received a letter whilst her mother was out. It said that her grandmother had died of old age and that Jenny was the closest relative and so all the money went to her. Charlotte hid the letter from her mother and filed to receive the money which she then used to pay fees to get into Dalton where she could board. She told her mother the day she left, after packing her bags and getting a taxi to wait out front. Her mother's reaction wasn't the best but as soon as it was over she was out of the house and into the awaiting car.

The people at Dalton were so understanding and as she walked down the corridors she saw not one unhappy face, the only places she could board was in Browning and so the boy assigned to show her round and help her find her feet introduced her to everyone, that's when she spotted someone across the room. He had gone to her old school, he was in glee club! The most hated group in McKinley history! She had attempted to go and speak to him but Chris had dragged her away before she got the chance.

Now she stood alone in her room, it was an ok size, one side of the room was covered with posters of singers and boy bands, the bed on that side was not made and there were a pair of pink fluffy rabbit slippers in front of the open wardrobe, Charlotte looked at what must be her side of the room, it's plain walls were intimidating and the shelves looked unnaturally bare. She was about to look through the mess in her bag when there was a sharp knock on the door.

“Um… Hello?” someone asks knocking again

“Oh, sorry” she says opening the door to see a tall porcelain boy smiling brightly at her, “Hi”

“Hey, I'm Kurt”

“Charlotte, you're from McKinley too right?” she asks opening the door wider, allowing him to see her

“Yeah I am, I just came to ask if you wanted to come with me into the town down the road. I really want to buy some posters as the walls in my room are creepy and bare”

“Er, yeah actually I was just thinking that!” she grabs her purse and follows Kurt down the stairs. They catch the bus into town and go searching for posters.

“So how was your day?” asks Blaine sitting down on my bed after kicking of his shoes and loosening his tie

“Make yourself at home then” I role my eyes jokingly and sit down next to him “It was good thanks, I went into town with Charlotte to get posters and then we got lunch whilst we were out. What about you, anything happen in classes?”

“Not particularly, Wes told me to remind you about Warbler auditions tomorrow, I hope you have a song prepared”

“Yeah, I'm going to do Don't Cry for Me Argentina”

“That sounds great, do you know whether Charlottes is going to audition?”

“Yeah, she is. She wasn't in Glee club in McKinley because she was scared of being picked on, I don't think she would have handled the pressure there but here it's different, I think she will be ok here.”

“Well that's the reason you both came isn't it”

“Yeah I guess. No idea what she is going to sing though” I put in the disk of Lion King into my laptop before sitting back down

“Well I guess we'll find out tomorrow”
