Dear Journal,
I honestly don’t know what I was expecting, but the New Directions were as insane as they always are.
To be honest, it’s not so much the actual Christmas in July celebration that was weird. With everyone spread out all over the country now, it made sense to get together in the summer when it would be easier to travel. I just wonder at the wisdom of making everything christmas themed. The roast turkey and full sides and trimmings was one thing, but I could have done without being forced to wear ugly christmas sweaters and drinking eggnog in these sweltering temperatures.
At least the gift exchange was fun. By that time we were all stuffed from dinner and more than a little bit drunk (who thought putting Puck and Santana in charge of drinks was a good idea?) and I think Rachel was the only one who remembered the rules of the White Elephant game.
I tried to put a little thought into the gift I was contributing, but based on their giggles, I’m about 99% sure that Sam and Blaine went to a thrift store together and picked out the most horrifying items they could find within the spending limit. I suppose it was pretty funny to see Puck’s face when he ended up with a polyester floral dress even a blind and tasteless grandma would hate, but I doubt he truly appreciates just how horrible the dress is to anyone with a functioning fashion sense.
I don’t actually remember much else after that, as Blaine won a bottle of limoncello and was nice enough to share it with me (though there were no drunken tattoos this time, thankfully). It’s a given that Britt ended up topless at some point, but I also vaguely remember some kind of nerd competition between Sam and Blaine that had them shirtless for a while. Gotta try to remember that...
