Blaine sat, anxiously watching the door, breathing a sigh of relief, when Kurt walked in. As the door started to close behind Kurt, the sun cast a glow around him, making him look to Blaine, like an angel.
Kurt spotted Blaine right away, and gave a soft wave before walking up to the counter, ordering his coffee. With the hot beverage in hand, he joined Blaine at the table.
"I can answer any questions for you, but I think to make you and me both more comfortable, we should get to know one another." Kurt smiled softly as he sat down across form Blaine.
Blaine took a tentative drink of his coffee and let out a sigh of relief. After talking to the police and the doctor for what seemed like hours, it was nice to have a normal conversation.
"Well you know my name is Blaine Anderson, and I am married to a bitch." He gave a light chuckle. "I am a lawyer with my family's law firm. Corporate law, my dad's dream, not mine. My dream was to perform, to teach music to kids."
"Okay." Kurt set his coffee cup down. "Kurt Hummel, phlebotomist, part-time anyhow. The rest of my time, I work for Marc Jacobs fashion house. Despite my job at the hospital, I have a big phobia of needles. Being stuck with them, obviously sticking others with one is not an issue." Kurt laughed lightly.
"Is working in fashion your dream?" Blaine asked, starting to actually relax.
"It is. I have loved fashion, and critiquing it, ever since I could spot bad color choices, and distasteful patterns."
It was Blaine's turn to laugh. "I wish I had stood up to my father, and followed my dreams." He said, suddenly turning serious. "Too late now though."
"Don't say that. It is never too late to fulfill your dreams. I am only part time doing what I absolutely love. One day, I will be seeing my own designs on the runway. I won't stop until I do." Kurt replied.
"Could you see me going back to school at my age?" Blaine shook his head. "Thirty years old, and a college student."
"You already have your core classes, so getting your teaching degree, couldn't take more than a year or two."
"I don't know. This is all going to create a shit storm with my family. If, Katherine succeeded, she will be out for money. I would help, for the baby's sake. It didn't ask to be created the way it was. So I will support my child, maybe even come to love him or her." Blaine leaned back in his chair and allowed his eyes to gaze up and down Kurt's body. "Am I allowed to ask if you are taken?"
"Slow your roll, Blaine." Kurt blushed, "You are a married man, even if it is a sham. To answer your question, no I am single. I work and travel too much to even be a good catch for someone."
Blaine nodded. "After the stunt she pulled last night, I am tired of living a lie. I will be filing for divorce as soon as I leave here. I will most likely lose my home and my job, even my family, but they are not worth all of this."
"That is a good first step, with an unfortunate outcome." Kurt took a drink of his coffee. "Under Ohio law, if found guilty Katherine could face a minimum of five years up to twenty five, since she drugged you. I suggest when you file for divorce, that you add a stipulation, that if a child was conceived you be awarded sole physical custody, with no parental rights to Katherine."
"Who is the lawyer here?" Blaine chuckled. "You know your shit."
"I have been volunteering at the center for thirteen years now. We help with researching laws and we also fight to change them." Kurt shrugged. "It helps those who need it, and gives those who don't a better insight into the law and their rights."
"When do the support groups meet?"
"Every Wednesday at 7pm. The center has a strict privacy and code of conduct for the meetings. They do not allow for anyone to use them as dating agendas. The reason for the meetings, is to connect with others who have been through what you have been through."
"Is there rules against dating one of the volunteers?" Blaine asked with a soft smile.
"Not if the connection is made outside of the meeting and both parties are in agreement of all activities. Most importantly if both parties are single."
"Point taken, I propose, we take the time of my divorce filing, to get to know each other, as friends, outside of the support meetings."
"Sounds like an acceptable proposal." Kurt flirted back. He had a good, no a great feeling about the man who sat across from him. Like they had met in another time or something.
Blaine stood up and extended his hand to Kurt. "It has been a pleasure, Kurt, I have your card, I will see you at the next meeting. I am going now to a lawyer and starting my life over."
Kurt smiled as he shook Blaine's hand. "You have my number, could I get yours?" he held his cell phone out to him.
Blaine took it and put his number into the contacts list. "Now you have my number." He smiled and gave Kurt a soft wave as he left.
Kurt looked up the information Blaine had put into his phone. "Sly one Mr. Anderson." He chuckled when he saw that Blaine had put 'Call Me Maybe' as his name.
