They walked in relative silence, just theoccasional instanceofsmall talk penetrating the void.
When they reached Kurt's chambers they stood awkwardly for a few moments.
"Blaine, willyou come in?" Kurt asked tentatively.
"Yeah, I'd like that."
He followed Kurt in and stood dumbly just inside the door. He watched Kurt move further in the room, he watched the curve of Kurt's hip and the muscles in his thighs. He watched the flex in his arm and the delicious dip at his collar.
"Blaine, you can come all the way in. Sit with me?" Kurt saton the end of his bed.
"Sorry,"moving to do as Kurt had instructed. "I'm having trouble focusing."
"No, I'm sorry." Kurt said dipping his head. Blaine missed his eyes already, their soft hew usually gave so much life to his words and Blaine wanted to see it. He wanted to see it all the time."You must have so much goingonin your head right now. The last thing I want to do is burden you more."
Kurt took Blaine's hand and looked up at him, worrying his lip between his teeth. His wet, soft lip that Blaine wanted to... He shook his head.
"No, that's not what I meant. Imeant Ican't focus because I'm distracted- distracted by you, by everything about you. When I look at you nothing else matters. I... your lips... I want to kiss you."
Blaine leaned in andhisbreathhitchedwhen Kurt followed. Blaine closed his eyes and sensed Kurt's lips about to meet his own.
"Wait." Kurt put a hand between them. "You..." Kurt swallowed. "We can't do that."
"Yes, we can. Rachel would be ok with it." Blaine said softly.
"No, Blaine. I know she would, that's not it. Iwouldn't be ok with it."
Blaine backed off.
"Oh." He'd done it again. Blaine's gut clenched and his mind feltclouded. He'd let himself get too deep.
"Oh no!No, no,no!" Kurt pulled Blaine's hand towards his chest and cupped his chin. "That is not what I meant at all. I'm saying this all wrong! I'd love to kiss you, I've dreamt about it since the first day I met you. And I probably shouldn't have admitted that... but Idowant to be with you, so much."
Blaine's breathing returned to normal. "Then what's the problem, Kurt? I'm not trying to take advantage of you." Blaine hesitated, had he done something wrong? Pushed too far?Had he assumed too much?"I really like you,and I think we couldhavesomethingspecial here."
"I do too, Blaine. When I was talking to you the other day about losing faith in love, it wasn't because I didn't think I would find it. It was because I thought maybe I hadfound it already, in you.But you would never trust me enough to bewithmeafter what we'd done. You don't know the truth Blaine, and you said you couldn't trust me until I told you everything."
"I was wrong. I do trust you. I know I don't know the truth, andI've not deluded myselfin to thinking that doesn't matter, butI can't helphow I feel. I want to be with you whether I know what's going on or not. You have this magnetic pull overmethat I can't control, that I don't want to control."
"That's why I have to tell you.I... I want you to know the truth, all of it." Kurt looked away withglazedeyes.
"You don't have to tell me, Kurt." Blaine didn't want to know the truth if it put that sad look on Kurt's face.
"I do. I couldn't tell you before, not because I didn't trust you, but because I trusted you so much.I trusted you were a good personwhowould tell their friends if they or their family were in trouble. And you've already shown me how good a friend you are to Sebastian."
"You're concerned I'll tellSebastian? I already knew youwere working against theSmythesand you know I support the rebellion." Blaine was getting confused.
"I know. But there's a difference between a far away rebellion with apipedreamandone on your doorstep, onethat could put your friend in immediate danger." Kurt kept their eyecontact, his eyes round and piercing.
"I'm not that naive Kurt, I know supporting the rebellion could bring fighting to the castle and Sebastian might be caught in the crossfire. But Ibelievein the rebellion, andI trust thatthere will be apeaceful resolution with theSmythes, onethat removes them from power. So you don't have to tell me the specifics, we can be together and I won't hold it against you."
"But some dayyoumight, some daywhenyouknow the truth. And losing you will be so much worse than never having you at all."
Blaine felttears build behind hiseyesand hishanditched to wipethemaway, but hedidn't want tolose his eye contact with Kurt. Itfelt as if thatwasall that washolding them together, and he wasn't ready to let go without a fight.
"That's where you're wrong, Kurt. Knowing whatwecould have and not having it, that's worse than us giving this a try and it not working. I don't want to live with any more regrets."
"Me neither. Which is why, if you'lllet me, I'm going to tell you the truth."
Blaine sat back andthought over what Kurt hadsaid. Henodded, giving Kurt the floor to talk.
"Okay,"Kurt swallowed. "Thank you, by the way. You don't know what it means to me to know that you want us to be togetherregardless ofwhether I tell you the truth, which is whyI have to tell you."
Blaine nodded again, encouraging Kurt to continue.
"My name isn't Hudson. Hudson is Finn's name."
Blaine stopped himself from asking all the questions that crossed his mind, this was Kurt's turn to talk, his story to explain.
"He is my step brother so it's just convenient for me to use his and Carole's last name, although Carole's is now Hummel-Hudsonbutnevermind..."
"Hummel?" Blaine interrupted before he could stop himself.
"Yes. Oh I'm doing this all wrong again. My name...is Kurt Hummel."
"Hummel,"Blaine repeated. "You're Elizabeth Kensington'sson? You're the... the rightful heir to the thrown?" Blaine stared into nothing, dumbfounded by the revelation. He'd been so excited when he'dheard the possibility that there may be an heir, but for it to be Kurt? How... he couldn't begin to process it.
"Blaine? Shall I continue?"
"You want the thrown for yourself?" Blaine asked, furrowing his brow andignoring Kurt's question.
"No, not at all. I'd like nothing more than just to continue living my life in anonymity. Butmy existencegivesthe rebellion hope, a talisman for them to focus on. BeforeI revealed who I was they had no direction, but with the idea of an heir they pulled togetheras one. And I want nothing more than to remove theSmythesfrom power, if putting me on the thrown is the best way to do that then I'll do it." Kurt pulled hard on Blaine's hand totry and get him to look at him again, but Blaine was too caught up in his own thoughts to notice.
"So all the rebels know?" Blaine was surprised he was managing to produce coherentquestionsgiven how convoluted his thoughts were.
"No, just the high ranking ones-the ones we know well enough personally to trust. It's difficult to know who we can rely on, if people found out who we didn't want to, then everything would be in danger of being lost. And I can't let that happen. For the people. For my mom." Kurtwas struggling to keep his voice under control.
Blaine organised his thoughts. He felt like he wasin control of himself now and he needed to keep this conversation on track. He needed to understand."Kurt, calm down. This is a lot of information for me to process and I don't want to upset you."
"I'm sorry, this is supposed to be about you, not me." Kurtaplogised.
Blaine laughed. "It's about us,"he corrected.
"You still want to be with me?" Kurt snapped his eyes to Blaine.
"Yes, why wouldn't I?" He may have gottenbogged downin all of the new information, buthe had heardnothingtomakehim reconsiderhis feelings.
"You're right,I'msorry. I need to keep on track." Kurt took a moment to compose himself. "The King hates theBerrys'and because of that, he'd never accept their prolonged presence in the capital without good reason. And I couldn't come here aloneasI tend to stick out without even trying. Wesuggestedthe idea of a marriage and we think the King thought he'd be getting Rachel as some sort of hostage."
"Why do you want someone in the Castle?"
"We've never had anyone in the Castle with any seniority in the rebellion, someone tomake contacts and keep an eye on the King's activity. Plus we need someone on the inside once the troops get here."
"The troops? You mean the army, why are they coming?" Blaine sat up straighter, eager to know the plan.
"We've been stepping up rebel attacks in the Capital, and the Castleitself.Speaking of...sorry about the thing withSantana, shewas not supposed to hurt you."
"Santana! You said her name.I knew I'dheardit before!Brittany mentioned her, why didn't I connect the dots?"
"You did take a knock to the head, Blaine. And again, I am so sorry. Santana didn't know who you were and she can get a little over zealous."
"It's not your fault, and I'm fine now. Continue with the plan."
"We're hoping the King willbe forced torecallthe armyto protect himself. What he doesn't know isthatsome of the units are loyal to the rebellionrather thanhim."
"General Sylvester!" Blaine didn't care how giddy he was getting-everything was starting to make sense.
"Sue?You know Sue? How do you know Sue?"
"Coop, my brother, he's in her unit. He told me she was meeting with rebels."
"What? How did he tell you this? Oh my God... anybodycouldknow!" Kurtbecame almostfrantic.
"No, don't worry. He sent it in code,a code we've been using and kept hidden for years." Blainewondered why hedidn't think twice about revealing his communication method with Cooperto Kurt.
"I can't believe you know about Sue! And you've known all along. What has Coopertold you?" Kurtasked, relaxinga bit.
"Not much." Blaine shrugged. "Just that she was meeting with a rebel leader, a sexy blond, apparently. That's about as much detail as I got fromhim."
"Quinn, he means Quinn. She's the leader of the rebels in that area. She went to school with Rachel."
"Wow, you're really doing this. This is going to work!" Blaine couldn't explain how happy he felt to know that the rebellion wasn't just a pipe dreamor something that would not happen untillong into the future. It was here, it was now,and it was real.
"I hope so."
"It will Kurt. I believe in you, and clearly so do many other people." Blaine took both of Kurt's handsin his as hecrossed his legs on the bed. "You're amazing, literally the most amazingand themostinteresting guyin the country. And I can't believe I get to know youand feel the way I do about you..."
"I'd very much like if you kissed me now." Kurt said, looking up from under his eyelashes.
"You would?" Blaine asked. "I mean, yes, I can do that. Okay..."
Blaine surged forward to meet Kurt'slipswithhis own. He immediately felt Kurt press back anditsenta tingle through his skin. The kiss was firm but chaste, lastingonlya moment, yet an eternity to Blaine.
When he pulled back he let out a shaky breath and smiled, rubbing the back of his neck.
"That was..." Blaine attempted to say, at a loss for words.
"Too good not to do again,"Kurt filled in for him before reaching for Blaine. Their lips met fiercelythis time, and there was nothing chaste about it. Pushing the kiss deeper,Kurt cupped his chin, tilting his head so Blaine could slip his tongue in at the perfect angle. Kurt's soft lips vibrated with alowmoan. They broke apart leaving Blaine's lips cold and empty. He had to remedy thatas soon as possible. He surged forward again and pressed kisses along Kurt's jaw. Kurt wrapped his hand further around Blaine'sneckand leant back onto the bed, bringing Blaine with him.
Blaine's fingers slid up Kurt's arm and he longed to touch more, butthere was too much material. He'd clawed at Kurt's shirt as Kurtthreadhis fingers through the hair at the nape of Blaine's neck.
"Blaine,"Kurt sighed. Blaine hummed in response but didn't stop his investigation of Kurt's skin. "Come back here."
Their lips met again, fasterandslicker. Kurt pulled at the bottom of Blaine's shirt, yanking it free of Blaine's trousers.
"Too many clothes." Kurt said. Blaine giggled under his lips.
Blaine broke away so that he could remove his shirt, only to have Kurt try to pull him back. "No." Kurt moaned.
"Do you want the shirt off or not?" Blaine asked teasingly.
"Off, definitely off,"Kurt confirmed with a nod.
Blaine slowly lifted his shirt with a seductive smirk. As soon as it was off Kurt pulled him back down, butBlaine protested. "Quid pro quo?"
"Tease. Help me then." Blaine gladly helpedpull his shirt over his headbefore diving intothe taste the creamy skin along his collar bone.
Kurt cupped Blaine's ass, thrustingtheir hips together. Blaine gave a breathy moan feeling Kurt's erection brush his own throughtheirpants.
"Now who's the tease?" Blaine said, accenting each word with a kiss.
Kurt suddenly sat up and held Blaine away by his shoulders. "You're right. We should... we shouldn't move this fast."
Blaine gulped and nodded. "Okay." He closed his eyestrying to will his erection away.
"Okay." Kurt said quietly.
"Is thatwhat you want?" Blaineaskedinarestrained tone.
Blaine's eyes snapped open when Kurt's lips were suddenly on his again, andhe kissed back withfervour. They gripped each other tight as their tonguesbrushed together. When the need for oxygen became toomuch they broke apart astheybreathed heavily resting against each others foreheads.
"You..." Blaine attempted to say.
"I have the worst ideas." Kurt said as he pulled Blaine back down on the bed and latched his lips to Blaine's neck.
"I think this..." Blaine groaned,"is one of your better ones."
Blaine moved his hips against Kurt's, distracting Kurt from doing whatever it was that was so delicious with his tongue.
"Don't stop," Blaine instructed.
"You like that?" Kurtasked, his voicemuffledbyhisown tongue.
"Uh huh." Blaine mumbled as he reached for the fastenings of Kurt's pants. He fumbled to getthemundone before running his palm over the bulge beneath. He felt the vibrations from Kurt's moan underneath him.
He trailed a finger along Kurt's hip bone beforedippinghis hand below the waistlineof his pantsand gasped at the weight of Kurt's girth in his palm.
"Wait... together..." Kurt said, heavy and breathless.
Kurt turned them so that they were facing each other side by side, kissing him sweetly in the process.
"Together,"he said again as he reached under Blaine's now lose pants and wrapped his hand around Blaine's throbbing cock. Blaine ached until Kurt moved his hand, slowly at first but his grip remained firm.
Blaine returned the favour and trailed his thumb over Kurt's slit, gathering pre-cumto help lubricate the movement. They kept eye contact as theirrhythm got faster, needierand less coordinated, their ragged breathing the only noise either of themheard.
Kurt squirmed and thrust against his hand. "I'm close," he whispered.
"Come for me, Kurt." Blaine whispered inhisear.
And he did, comingover Blaine's hand with a broken moan. Blaine felt his muscles clench as Kurt twisted his wrist and pushed him over the edge. They lazilythrustedagainst each other as they came down from on high.
"I..." Blainestarted, butKurt put his finger against Blaine's lipsto stop him from talking.
"I'm never giving you up. No matter what, this is it. I am never saying goodbye to you," Kurt said with such sincerity that Blaine knew he'd never doubt him again.
"You know," Kurt mused, running his fingers through Blaine's hair, "I've always known who I am, and that I was part of this rebellion. But I was never willing to put myself out there- I didn't want to deal with the pressure of having people rely on me.And I didn't want to be King."
Blaine hummed against Kurt's chest, content to listen to him talk and lie in his arms a little while longer.
"But now..." Kurt continued, "now I know that I am willing to sacrifice my own wishes to save the people of our country from theSmythes.I will do anything necessary to see that happen. When all theSmythesare wiped from the face of the earth, we will finally be free."
"Wait, what?" Blaine asked, startled out of his tranquillity by Kurt's words."You want them to die?All of them?Kurt!Yes, the King is evil! But Sebastian is at his mercy, just like the rest of us are."Blaine argued.
"Are you serious? How else do you picture this ending Blaine? You are naïve if you think differently."Kurt was looking at Blaine as if he'd grown a second head.
Suddenly, the calm assurance Blaine had felt not ten minutes ago had shattered. How could he choose between his best friend and the man he thought he might love?
