Turning, Kurt looked at his son and one of his daughters with a raised eyebrows as a door upstairs was slammed shut. “Do I want to know?” he asked, crossing his arms over his chest. Wyatt just shook his head and dropped his car keys in the bowl on the island. “I don’t even know. The two of them climbed in the car and Lore wouldn’t say anything all the way home and then she practically burst into tears and ran up to her room,” the blonde haired boy explained as he moved past his dad to look in the fridge.
“Willow, do you know what happened?” Kurt asked, dropping his pen on the counter, Blaine could figure it out.
Willow shrugged and dropped her school bag in the family room before following her brother’s path to the fridge. “I saw her and Craig talking before we left school. She looked pretty torn up about it after wards,” she explained, pulling out a bottle of water and walking into the family room to plop herself down on the couch.
Kurt sighed and looked over at Wyatt who was still digging around in the fridge. “Don’t gorge yourself, your father will be back from the store to start dinner soon,” Kurt said with a smile and an eye roll. He took a deep breath and licked his lips slowly. “I’m going to go check on Lorelei and then get ready for work,” Kurt said, only receiving grunts in response from Willow and Wyatt.
Making his way up stairs and down the hall, Kurt knocked gently on Lorelei’s door. “Lore? Its dad, can I come in?” he asked in a soft voice. Rustling could be heard through the door. “No. Go away,” she answered, her voice hoarse.
Kurt rolled his eyes and opened the door anyway, smiling a little at Lorelei’s affronted expression. “It was a rhetorical question,” Kurt said with a shrug, closing the door behind him. He crossed the room and sat himself down in the girl’s desk chair. “So, what’s wrong?” Kurt asked, crossing his legs and folding his hands in his lap.
Lorelei stared back at her father, blinking slowly as tears filled her eyes. “H-he said he loved me, Dad… and then he dumped me,” she said, throwing herself into her pillows. Kurt’s eyes widened at the sudden outburst (eerily similar to one Rachel Berry, which biologically made sense). He got up from the chair and walked over to the girl’s bed, sitting himself down on the edge.
“Oh, sweetie… he’s an idiot,” Kurt said, rubbing her back.
Kurt was definitely not well equipped to handle teenage girls. She sat up, shaking her head miserably from side to side. “He’s perfect, and smart, and gorgeous, and and and…” she started to take short staccato breaths. Kurt scooted closer and hushed her, rubbing a hand up and down her back. “Honey… I know you’re hurting but it’ll get easier. I promise. And he is an idiot of he can’t hold on to someone as wonderful as you.
Lorelei sighed and wiped her eyes before running a hand through her hair.
Kurt watched her and licked his lips slowly as he thought for a moment. “How about… you get yourself changed and washed up and you can come into the city with me? You can hang out in my dressing room, or watch from the house, and then we’ll grab something to eat after,” Kurt suggested, wrapping an arm around her waist.
“It’s a-a school night,” she hiccupped.
Kurt pressed a kiss to Lorelei’s temple. “I think it’s okay if we bend the rules just this once… besides we can stop and see Aunt Rachel… she might be able to help you with this more than I can.”
Lorelei smiled up at her dad with watery eyes. “Thanks, dad. I love you.”
“I love you too, honey.”
