The next morning the whole school was called to the hall; with the exception of Blaine and Kurt who were both still asleep in the hospital wing. All the students sat down knowing something very serious had happened, that was the only occasion where the whole school had an assembly. Mr Day knew who the culprits of the occurrence, he was going to announce, were but he wanted to give them a chance to own up. All the students fell silent as he stepped onto the stage a very serious expression showing disappointment. He cleared his throat before addressing every person in the room,
“I have called this assembly to discuss a very serious matter. Last night one of our students was found unconscious in the gymnasium, it was clear he had been assaulted. However he would not tell us who the culprits of this act were, we take bullying at this school very seriously and we will be launching an investigation into whoever did this awful thing. The result of the attack, included 3 broken ribs and some severe bruising to the neck. I have to say that I am very disappointed, I thought that bullying was not something our students would stoop to. However I see I was wrong. I am giving the culprit or culprits a chance to own up now, the punishment will be significantly less, if you come forward now.” He paused and looked round the hall at the students who were gathered, when nobody even made a sign as to moving or responding, he sighed and continued,
“Fine, if nobody wants to own up, everyone is dismissed but could I please speak to the sports team?” Everyone began to filter out until it was just the team left. He stepped down from the stage,
“Boys I am very disappointed in you, I thought students here knew better than to bully, I gave you a chance to own up but you did not step forwards... Nick, Jeff Matron requests you go to the hospital wing,” both Nick and Jeff got up and ran from the room. Mr Day looked extremely disappointed,
“ I do not understand, first of all you bully Kurt, he has earned his place here and deserves to be in the school just as much as you all do. Just because he can’t afford all the flashy electronics, he is still here to learn. I saw what happened on his first day, I know that you have called him names, I know about his schoolwork , the math that you ripped up and dropped on the floor. I know about how you tried to stop him becoming part of the sports team. He deserves the privileges that we offer as much as you do. His life has never been easy, he has never celebrated Christmas, your birthdays may have been extravagant occasions, his were about spending time with his family. He cherishes every little thing that anyone does for him because he has seen things and experienced things that you can’t even imagine. His mother died in front of his eyes, his dad died from a drug overdose. He was abused badly and has an eating disorder from where he has been starved and neglected. He wanted so badly to fit into this school and you have just made his life more difficult, give him a break because it is hard enough already,” he paused collecting his thoughts,
“As for what you did to Blaine, that was totally unacceptable and I have never been more disappointed in my life. As punishment you shall all be on isolation for 3 weeks and you will be stripped of your privileges for the rest of the term. I have discussed the effect of this with Coach but she has agreed that your punishment is more important than the football team for now,” they all just looked at the headmaster bewildered. Sebastian looked furious,
“I will call my father about this, it is unacceptable...” Mr Day cut him off,
“I have spoken to your father and I have been ordered to send him you phone and other electronics which he will keep until your grades are up and your attitude is sorted,” Sebastian’s jaw hit the floor and he began to cuss out loud straight at Mr Day who just raised his eyes brows and continued to speak,
“We will go to each dorm, you will pack your bags and you will be in isolation,” all the boys hung their heads and they grabbed Sebastian, following Mr Day.
-Nick p.o.v-
Sebastian looked so shocked, he had been found out. We left before Mr Day started with their punishment. We headed to the hospital wing where we quietly went inside. Matron smiled at us and gestured to the bed. Blaine was propped up and Kurt was huddled into his side sleeping. Blaine saw us and smiled before wincing from the cut on his lip. He shuffled slightly wincing at all the bruises which throbbed as he moved. We sat down and then chuckled as Kurt’s nose wrinkled in his sleep. He croaked,
“So what is going on? I now know how Kurt felt when he was in here,” I gently took Jeff’s hand and said,
“Well Mr Day called a whole school assembly to give Sebastian and the others a chance to own up, but they didn’t so he is giving them their punishment, Sebastian’s face was so funny when he realised that Mr Day knew who had done it,” Blaine flinched a bit, I reassured, “Blaine after what they did Mr Day won’t let them hurt you or Kurt, it will be okay,” he nodded slightly trying not to aggravate his head. He looked down at Kurt who looked completely content and peaceful as he slept. He smiled and you could just see how much he cared for Kurt. He croaked,
“I am going to see if he wants to come and stay with me over Christmas, I mean I am sure my dad won’t mind and considering he has never had a proper Christmas I think he deserves to celebrate it, after everything that has happened,” I totally agreed with him, we all lived really close to each other so we always spent Christmas together. I had a sudden thought and asked,
“Blaine does your dad know what happened?” he nodded,
“Mr Day spoke to him and explained about everything, I spoke to him, it was nice to speak to him,” I nodded and said,
“So when are you going to phone your dad to ask about Kurt?” he shrugged and croakily whispered,
“Probably tonight, he will be home then,” I nodded. Blaine’s dad is a world famous fashion designer, he is really nice and is always sending Blaine the latest fashionable wardrobes. If he doesn’t like stuff, which a lot of it he doesn’t, Jeff and I always get to have it if we want it, if not he gives it to the charity shop. Lucas(Blaine’s dad) is always really busy but he really does care so much about Blaine and it does show. Blaine’s mom died when he was 11 and his dad never found anyone else, Blaine didn’t mind, his dad didn’t really have time to date and it was nice that he used his spare time to be with Blaine rather than with women who were destined to become Blaine’s stepmom. I thought it was good idea, I had planned on buying Kurt presents anyway, he really did deserved them as Blaine had said.
Matron eventually came and told us that we should go back to our dorm because it was getting on for lunch and Blaine needed a nap. We told Blaine we would be back later and then went off to the cafeteria...
