Blaine drove as fast as he could on the highway without getting caught to Kurt’s house. He didn’t want him to have time to deeply think about anything Shane had said. Once there, he jogged to the porch, the rain falling softly. His knuckles rapped on the door, waiting impatiently for someone to answer.
The door opened, Burt Hummel standing in the doorway, “Hello Mr. Hummel, may I talk to Kurt please? It’s kind of an emergency,” Blaine spoke in calm, but somewhat rushed tones.
Of course, Blaine. Come on in, and call me Burt,” Burt clapped him on his shoulder gently as he took off his shoes, not wanting to dirty their carpet.
He walked swiftly up to Kurt’s room, finding him lying on the bed. He left the door open a crack behind him, wanting to comply with Burt’s wishes.
Kurt sat up, “Blaine…”
“Kurt, Shane lied to you. Nothing that he told you was true, not a single word. I don’t want you to think that I’m that kind of person. Once I found out what he had told you I rushed straight over because I don’t want to lose you, Kurt,” Blaine’s voice came out in a rush, his expression frantic.
Kurt stood and walked over to Blaine, “You could’ve just texted me Blaine, I would’ve believed you. You didn’t have to rush all the way over here…” he said quietly.
”No, I did. I want to set things straight with you. You deserve to know everything, not those lies Shane told you,” Blaine said, his eyes cast downward at the floor.
Kurt grasped Blaine’s hand and pulled him over to the bed, sitting down and then patting the place beside him. Once he sat down, Blaine took a deep breath.
”I suppose I’ll just start from the beginning,” Blaine leaned backwards, his feet dangling off the edge of the bed.
Kurt listened tentatively, his eyes swimming with curiosity.
“Shane was always my family’s favorite child. He never did anything wrong in their eyes. I was constantly criticized, ridiculed, and picked at. My parents hate that I’m into theatre and music, because Shane’s the sporty one, I should be more like him. He puts on this sweet and innocent act around my parents, and he’s kept it up for years. The sibling rivalry was always there between us, but in 10th grade is where it really started. A part of me always knew that I wasn’t like the other boys, that I was gay. When I finally admitted it to myself, I was scared, terrified even. So I tried lying to myself, and starting dating a girl named Katryna. She was incredibly nice, and the sweetest girl I will probably ever meet. Shane was jealous. He’s always been jealous of me, even though he gets everything he could ever want. So he found a way to break us apart, and he started dating her. That was when I started hating him,” Blaine took a shaky breath.
Kurt lied back beside Blaine, watching him speak and listening with quieted interest.
”A year later was when I came out to my parents, and everyone else. My parents were furious. They swore it was just a phase, that I would grow out of it. They still think that, and I can’t get them to understand that being gay isn’t a choice. Do they honestly think I would chose to be bullied and ridiculed?” a humorless laugh wretched its way from his throat.
”There was only one other gay at my school, and as everyone expected, we started dating. Once again, Shane wanted what I had, even though he wasn’t and still is not gay. Jeremiah was my first love, and Shane stole him from me and slept with him. Shane made him hate me, and turned my only friend at the time against me. I’ve never been able to be happy with someone that I love, because he somehow finds a way to ruin it,” Blaine’s voice began to quiver as he finished speaking.
Blaine sat up, pulling Kurt with him, “When I found out what he had told you, I rushed over. I wasn’t going to let Shane take another person I care about from me.”
Kurt smiled warmly at Blaine, his eyes shimmering with unshed tears at Blaine’s story. He always knew he was lucky, to have a father that accepted him for who he was, and supported him no matter what. Kurt threw his arms around Blaine and hugged him tightly, them both crying into each other’s shoulders. Kurt was Blaine’s comfort, and he was glad to be there for him.
Blaine soon pulled out of Kurt’s embrace, holding both of his hands between them, “Kurt… I’m not going to let Shane take you from me. You’re too valuable to lose.”
And then, he did something he had wanted to do since he had met the pale-skinned beauty in front of him.
Blaine leaned forward and captured Kurt’s lips with his own in a sweet and tender kiss.
