The door of the McKinley High weight room flung open and hit the opposite wall, causing the boys in the room to jump as the hinges rattled and echoed through the now silent room. A very angry and flustered Kurt Hummel swept into the room. His blue eyes were livid, while an expression of pure rage had plastered itself onto his flawless face. “David Karofsky! Show yourself right now before I have to drag your sorry ass out of wherever its hiding!” Kurt screamed, his face turning red.

The others quickly fled at the countertenor’s scream, leaving Kurt alone in the room with Karofsky.

Karofsky stood in the center of the room and stared at Kurt with wide eyes, speechless. Kurt stormed up to him, his face turning crimson as he screamed, “You! What is your problem?! Blaine did absolutely nothing to you and you find it necessary to beat the shit out of him?! Just because you’re insecure about yourself gives you no right to hurt anyone that is actually happy with their self!! Blaine Anderson is in the hospital, because of what you did to him, and that’s low, even for you! I do not belong to you David, and from what I understand that’s the sorry reason you gave for hurting Blaine. “

Kurt continued, his voice lowering to a little above a normal speaking tone, “Yes, Karofsky, we had a thing. That was two years ago, we were immature and stupid, and just finding ourselves. I’m not calling it a mistake, because we both found out who we truly were, but that was then. This is now, and we’re nothing. I tried to stay friends with you, but you changed. I miss the old David Karofsky that I fell in love with all those years ago. But nothing you do now will change what I feel now. You are nothing but a big bully, David, and I despise you for it. I swear to all that’s holy, David, if you ever lay one fucking finger on someone or something I care about, you will regret ever looking at them the wrong way.“

Karofsky was now more speechless than he had been before. He had no idea how to respond to the fury that had overcome Kurt Hummel, and he didn’t want to risk his life if he said the wrong thing.

”But you know what, Karofsky? I feel sorry for you. Sorry that you can’t accept yourself, and sorry that you can’t get over something that happened so long ago. I was so stupid to think that you would just get over me. Just because you’re angry doesn’t mean you get to take out your anger on others. Blaine is afraid to be around me because of you. I hope you’re happy,” Kurt’s emotions came flooding out with his words, and his eyes watered with the traitor tears he had tried to shove back.

”You know what, Hummel? Maybe I am happy. That little bitch deserved every punch he got. You don’t want me hurting anyone that’s ‘yours’? I don’t want anyone touching what’s mine. I will get you back, Kurt, and that’s a promise,” David Karofsky was nearly as furious as Kurt, and he knew he would regret every word he said.

”I don’t belong to you!!! You had me all those years ago, but that changed when you decided you found another little toy to play with as you tried to hide the fact that you were gay!!!” Kurt screamed the loudest yet, and was now shaking with fury.

Karofsky took a step forward to argue with him, and Kurt matched his step with two strides of his own and slapped him as hard as he could. A red handprint slowly rose on Karofsky’s cheek, and Kurt lifted his chin in defiance. “You think I’m joking, David. I. will. ruin. you. I should actually thank you. It took what you did to Blaine for me to realize that I’m in love with him. I’m so shallow that it took that much for me to realize I am in love with Blaine Anderson,” Kurt spoke quietly this time.

Now David was shocked beyond belief. This blue-eyed beauty in front of him that could have anyone he wanted, had chosen Blaine Anderson, the school’s nerd. Kurt took this moment to flit out of the weight room as the traitor tears finally began to fall. He had to find a way to make things right with Blaine, and he had the perfect idea.

------------------------------------------------

Blaine was now allowed to go home under careful supervision. Rachel, Neil and David helped him get settled back into his room, with instructions to call or yell for one of them if he needed anything. The swelling around his nose and eye had gone done a lot, but bruises still littered the right side of his face.

Kurt took a shaky breath as he walked into the Anderson-Berry home. He let himself in, as he had been instructed to do ever since he was younger. Neil and David were sitting together on the couch, their hands intertwined. Rachel could be heard in the basement, belting out a rendition of Adele’s ‘Set Fire To The Rain’. Kurt smiled softly through his nervousness at Neil and David, and made his way slowly upstairs to Blaine’s room.

He knocked softly on the door before entering the room, and watched as Blaine’s eyes wouldn’t meet his own once he realized who it was. “Kurt-“ Blaine started, interrupted by Kurt.

”Shhh… just listen. Please. That’s all I’m asking for. Give me five minutes, and then I’ll leave, I promise,” Kurt spoke softly. Blaine nodded in agreement.

Kurt walked over to the iPhone dock that resided on Blaine’s nightstand and placed his iPhone into it. He selected a recording from the sound recorder, and a soft guitar that he had recorded began playing. Kurt sat on the edge of the bed and looked into Blaine’s eyes as he began to sing.

I call her up, when I know you’re at home

I jump out of my skin, when you pick up the phone

Why can’t I tell if you’re looking at me?

Should I give you a smile, or should I get up and leave?

I know it’s strange, I don’t know what I’m thinking

But is it wrong if I see him this weekend?

I really hope I can get him alone

I just don’t, don’t want them to know

Blaine’s eyes finally met Kurt as he began singing, and he immediately recognized the song. Kurt situated himself so he was kneeling next to Blaine on the bed as he sang. The countertenor’s voice rang beautifully in the room, accompanied by the soft guitar playing.

My best friend’s brother is the one for me

Blaine’s hand found Kurt’s as tears glistened in both of the boys’ eyes. Blaine was sure he was dreaming. This kind of stuff only every happened in his dreams, granted, most of his dreams that contained Kurt usually ended up a little dirtier.

I just can’t get you out of my mind

My best friend’s brother is the one for me

Kurt drifted the song off to an early close, and the last note played by the guitar hung poignantly in the near silence of the room

Blaine spoke first, “You really mean it?”

”Of course I do, Blaine. I fell for you just as hard as you fell for me. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to catch you. I was so stupid, that it took you getting hurt for me to realize just how in love with you I am,” Kurt responded with emotion and truth coloring his voice.

Blaine took in a short gasp of breath at Kurt’s confession, and a breathtaking smile broke out on his blemished face. Kurt smiled in return with a nervous giggle, and as his eyes drifted away, Blaine pulled him in close for an unexpected kiss.

A sharp intake of breath hissed into Kurt’s lungs, and he slowly responded and kissed Blaine back tenderly, being careful of his broken nose. A few moments later, Blaine pulled away with a flushed face and eager eyes, Kurt’s expression similar. “Who told you to stop kissing me?” Kurt whispered hotly before kissing Blaine again.

Later that evening found Kurt and Blaine cuddled together on Blaine’s bed, watching Moulin Rouge. Their hands were intertwined above the covers, and Blaine’s head rested on his new boyfriend’s shoulder.

”I want you to give me a makeover,” Blaine said suddenly, and looking up at Kurt.

”What?” Kurt asked, shocked at his suddenness.

”If I’m going to be your boyfriend, I have to measure up to your attractiveness somehow,” Blaine said with a shrug of his shoulders.

”Blaine, you’re perfect the way you are. You don’t need to change anything about you,” Kurt placed a kiss on Blaine’s cheek.

”But I want to. This nerd thing is getting kind of old anyway.”

”Alright. As soon as you’re healed, a trip to Saks Fifth Avenue is inevitable, “ Kurt concluded with a nod.

”I’ll go anywhere, as long as you’re by my side.”
