The air was clean and crisp as Kurt made his way slowly up the pebbled path leading to the small church up ahead. He wrapped his coat more firmly around his small body, but it didn't do anything to subside the chill he felt in his heart. The inside of the old building was filled with people; most faces he recognised along with a few he didn't . The pews were a brilliant cherry wood and were home to hundreds of red and yellow roses. Kurt's eyes started to fill with salty tears from the sight. Tina crying in Sam's arms, Puck with his head in his hands and Quinn grabbing onto Rachel for dear life. Kurt's eyes shifted to the left to see his own parents giving their condolences and a group of boys with blue ties with red piping with their heads bowed in the corner of the room.

It wasn't until another hand touched Kurt's own did he realise that he was rooted to the spot. Adam's hand was soft on his but it wasn't the touch he wanted at that moment, the touched he needed.

'Go on Kurt, I'm right here' Adam's voice was whispered into his ear as his hand relocated to the small of Kurt's back pushing him towards the front of the church. 'Go say goodbye'

Kurt made his way up the aisle, stubborn tears making their way down his pale cheeks. He could barley feel the pats on his back and shoulders he received or Mercedes hugging him halfway through his journey.  Once he reach his destination, he felt his entire being crumble as his sobs racked his entire body. Kurt grasped the edge of the midnight black coffin to steady himself. He drew a few long deep breaths before motioning his eyes to the boy laying inside.

Silence

Blaine was laying on his back with his eyes closed and it took Kurt back to memories of happy times. The first time they fell asleep together, the first time Kurt woke up to the sleeping boy next to him, movie nights when Blaine fell asleep halfway through the film,  midnight picnics in Kurt's tree house.

Blaine was dressed in the plaid shirt they had bought together shortly after their first time.

"This pattern looks great on you honey, it brings out the colour of your eyes and takes attention away from your huge bushy eyebrows. "You love my huge bushy eyebrows" "Yes, but I love you more"

Kurt shook his head to clear his vision and let his hand fall from the casket to Blaine's own. The cold flesh made Kurt shiver, the sudden coldness reinforced the fact that Blaine was gone.

The heat, and the warmth and the love that once radiated from Blaine's being was now gone. The waves crashed one time too many, taking away all the contents in its path.

Kurt lowered his face to Blaine's with the knowledge that he would never again see those golden brown eyes that once offered him comfort just from their presence. Kurt's face was so close to Blaine's that his tears dropped from his face and landed on Blaine's cheek silently, like the flutter of a butterfly's wing.

Kurt's lips made contact with Blaine's forehead like he would do once upon a time when Blaine would get sick. A moment passed, to Kurt felt like an eternity, he retracted his lips from Blaine's skin to whisper his last goodbye.

"Thank you for letting me be your teenage dream. I love you Blaine"

Kurt looked at Blaine once more before turning around and made he way down the two small steps. Once his feet were on solid ground he ran. Down the aisle, past the red and yellow roses and their promise of forever, past a worried Adam, past a crying Rachel, out the doors into the sunlight.Kurt ran, past the church, past his car and past Dalton academy. He made it to Blaine's house in record time and unlocked the door with his key.

Blaine's bed still smell the same. Like raspberry and hair gel and Kurt's own cologne. It smelt of lost memories, and young love and hope. It smelt like Kurt's forever.

Back at the church, Burt was saying his goodbyes to Blaine, a boy who was like a son to him, when he noticed to piece of tears trained paper adorned with a red heart, two names and a promise of forever.

"I'm never saying goodbye to you"
