Dalton Academy, Saturday:
Kurt sighed, shouldering his duffle bag as he stepped out of his car. Today was his first Day at Dalton Academy. He started classes on Monday, but had arrived two days early, in order to move his things into his dorm. Taking a deep breath, he turned to face the building which he would be living within for the next year, smiling slightly as he thought of all the possibilities. No one at Dalton knew him, and there would be no bullies… he would finally be accepted for who he was. It was time for a fresh start, and he couldn’t wait.
Smoothing down his black vest, he set off towards his dorm, glancing down at his schedule to check the room number once again. Walking down the hallways, which were mostly decorated in beautiful shades of red, he smiled. He could get used to this. It was much more fashionable than McKinley. Screw McKinley, Kurt thought bitterly as his thoughts darkened.
McKinley High had been hell for Kurt. People there had never accepted him. Sure, the Glee club had pretended to accept him, but occasionally even they had allowed their homophobic tendencies to shine though. Not to mention, they never stood up for him when the jocks were verbally, and sometimes even physically attacking him. So, Kurt had endured taunts, slushy facials, swirlies, dumpster tosses, being shoved, hit, and more on a daily basis, with no one to help or support him. And to be quite honest, he had no real friends, well unless you count him, but Kurt hadn’t seen him in years. So, when Kurt saw the flier for the Scholarship contest, he jumped at the opportunity. Kurt had no idea how he had done it, but somehow his essay had won. Out of all the people who had applied, he had won, and it still amazed him.

Kurt had spent the afternoon decorating his dorm. Scholarship perk one: Singles dorm, meaning he had the entire room to himself. He had decided to keep the decorating simple, adding a few pictures to the tables of his dad, mom, and even one of himself and Blaine when they were younger. He had also replaced the plain red comforter that came on his bed, with his own. He had added a few personal touches to the desk, which was beautiful, and mahogany. Finally, he had organized his closet, before laying back on his bed with a happy sigh, It’s not home, but it’s close enough, he thought, smiling as he cuddled into his pillows, and atleast I’m safe.

Blaine groaned, rolling over in his bed as he tried to block out the irritating tapping noise. It was no use, as the noise began to grow louder. He soon recognized it as knocking, and growled slightly before kicking his blankets off, “KNOCK IT OFF, WES! I’M UP,” he called as he hopped around attempting to pull his pants on.
“Warblers meeting in 30 minutes!” came Wes’ muffled reply though the door, and Blaine groaned in protest. You’ve got to be kidding me, it’s the first day of school, he thought frustrated-ly as he continued to wrestle his clothes on, and frowning as he realized his shirt was on backwards. How did I even…? he looked down confusedly before slipping it off and turning it around.
A few moments later, he found himself in front of the mirror, fully clothed, blazer and all, as he applied tons of gel to his curls, flattening them as his parents had always insisted. In his opinion, he looked much better without the stuff, but what his parents always wanted, they got. Well, except for one thing.
Checking his reflection one last time, he grabbed his bag, slinging it over his shoulder before making his way to the Warblers meeting room. As he exited his room, he noticed the dorm across the hall was finally filled. He wondered briefly if there was a new student, or if someone had just moved dorms for some reason. Entering the Warbler Commons, all thoughts of his new dorm neighbor left his mind.
The room was in Chaos, Wes was banging his Gavel, attempting to restore order, while David was shaking Wes’ arm while frantically talking to him in hushed tones. They rest of the Warblers were in various states of panic and excitement, except for Thad, who as usual had his nose stuck in a book.
Blaine sighed, running his hand over his face as he took in the scene, before raising his fingers to his lips, and whistling loudly. Suddenly, everyone in the room froze and turned to look at him, Wes with his Gavel still in mid swing.
Blushing, Blaine cleared his throat before speaking, “What's going on?”
Wes finally composed himself, before directing everyone to calmly take a seat, before he explained, “New directions. Probably some of our toughest competition.” he said as he pulled a picture of the group out of who knows where, and showed it to everyone. He then pointed to a boy, whom Blaine couldn’t really make out, as the picture wasn’t a great one. “This is Klurt Humdel, Former member New directions, and Daltons only scholarship student this year.” and suddenly gasps of those who hadn’t known could be heard throughout the room. As silence took over again, Wes continued, “Now, there’s only two reasons he could be here. A) He’s spying on us. B.) He’s actually here because he wants to be.” he then looked around the room making eye contact with everyone, “Find out his reasons as soon as possible. If by some chance he’s not spying, he needs to be recruited. Rumor is he’s a countertenor.”
Silence hung in the air as Wes finished speaking. Countertenors were hard to come by, and they desperately needed higher voices. Glancing at his watch, Blaine frowned. He was going to be late. Great, just what I needed. Suddenly, the silence was broken as Wes banged his gavel, signaling the end of the meeting, and flurry of movement could be heard. Frowning, Blaine got up and wandered from the room, absentmindedly walking to his first class, as thoughts of the mysterious new boy filled his mind.
