~McKinley Elementary School~
Kurt stared around the classroom in awe, as he tightly clutched his mommy’s hand. Today was his first day of kindergarten. He had never been to school, as his mother had opted to teach him everything he would have learned in preschool at home, and the classroom was one of the prettiest rooms he had ever seen. It was brightly colored, with pretty drawings and pictures hanging all over the walls. Children were everywhere. Some running about the room, others clutching their mothers hands tearfully begging to go home, which Kurt was close to doing himself.
He didn’t really want to go to school. He didn’t know anyone, and his mommy wasn’t going to be there. What if no one liked him, or wanted to play with him?
As tears sprung into his eyes, he looked up fearfully at his mother, who was looking down at him with a reassuring smile. Kneeling down in front of him she gently smoothed down his hair, and kissed his forehead, whispering quietly, “Don’t worry, sweetheart. You’ll be making friends in no time.”
Shaking his head, Kurt sniffled, wiping at his nose, “No mommy, they won’t like me!”
Smiling gently, she pulled out a tissue, wiping his tears and nose, before pointing to a small boy, sitting alone in a corner, “I bet he’ll like you. Why don’t you go introduce yourself?” she said giving him a gentle push in that direction.
Kurt frowned slightly as his mother pushed him, before making his way over to the small boy, with black curly hair, before stopping in front of him, and waiting for him to look up. But he didn’t, not even after a few minutes of Kurt staring at him. The small boy just continued to stare at the floor, giving no indication that he even knew Kurt was there, and Kurt frowned, before sitting next to the boy.
“What’s so intresting ‘bout the floor?” he said while staring at the floor, before glancing over at the black-haired boy.
Startled, the boy jumped, looking up fearfully at Kurt as he realized he wasn’t alone anymore. For a while, the boy just stared at Kurt, and Kurt was beginning to wonder if he could speak at all, before he suddenly opened his mouth and began speaking, “Nothin really, I just.. I thought if I stared at the floor, they wouldn’t see me, ‘cause I don’t think they’ll like me.” he said frowning as he pointed at all of the other kids, and Kurt nodded, agreeing with him.
“I don’t think they’ll like me either.” he said with a frown as he looked down. After a few moments of silence, the boy spoke again.
“I think I’ll like you.” the boy said, and Kurt looked up surprised.
The boy was smiling, and Kurt couldn’t help but smile back at the boy, who, he noticed, had the prettiest green eyes he had ever seen, “I think I’ll like you too.” he replied, smiling shyly.
The boy smiled even brighter, and stood up grabbing Kurt’s hand to pull him up, “I’m Blaine. Do you wanna be my new best friend, and go play with me?”
Kurt smiled as he continued to clutch Blaine’s hand, “I’m Kurt, and I think I‘d like that alot. Do you wanna play tea party?” he said excited to finally have someone other than his stuffed animals and mommy to play with.
Blaine nodded, “How do you play tea party though?” and Kurt gasped in shock, before dragging Blaine over to a table to teach him proper tea party etikit, or whatever his mommy called it. Kurt never even noticed his mother slipping out of the room, with a giant grin on her face.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From that day forward, Kurt and Blaine were the very best of friends. Blaine was beginning to be an expert at tea parties, and they spent almost every day together, with Blaine coming over to Kurt’s house after school quite often. They rarely spent time at Blaine’s house because his parents were too busy with work. Most of the time Blaine would be with a Nanny, who would bring him over to the Hummel residence whenever possible. Elizabeth, Kurt’s mother, was beginning to think of Blaine as her second son. She noticed he was quite starved for attention, and made sure to cuddle him often. She also noticed that he practically glowed when Kurt paid him attention. They were almost always holding hands, or cuddling and watching their favorite Disney movies. Both boys enjoyed singing along, and both had angelic voices. They were exceptional, to only be children, and she knew one day both would be awing crowds with their voices[hopefully dueting with each other].
Watching them interacting with one another was the highlight of Elizabeth’s day. She knew her Kurt was different, and she could see the same about Blaine. She also believed in soul mates, and believed that her boys were made for each other; it was just one of those things a mother always knew. It made her happy, knowing that her Kurt had found his someone at such a young age, even if they wouldn’t realize it until they were much older. Still though, she was happy knowing that Kurt would always have someone to be there for him, or so she thought…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been a year since Kurt and Blaine had met. They were still as close as ever, and each had made the other promise bracelets. They were a promise, to always be best friend who would cuddle, sing, and watch Disney movies together, and they would never ever take them off. Kurt’s was green because he liked Blaine’s eyes so much. Blaine’s was blue because he liked Kurt’s eyes too.
Both boys had changed since meeting the other. Kurt was more relaxed, as Blaine tended to goof off, and it had rubbed off on him. Blaine had more confidence in himself, as Elizabeth and Kurt both encouraged him more than his parents ever had.
Everything was perfectly simple, and both boys liked it that way. That is until Blaine’s parents stepped into the picture…
It was a few days into summer vacation when it happened. Blaine’s nanny had shown up with Blaine at the expected time, but this time something was different. Normally Blaine was smiling widely, but this time he was in tears, and immediately clung to Kurt as he saw him. Kurt had begun to cry as well. He hated seeing Blaine upset, and wanted to fix it, but he didn’t know what was wrong.
After a few moments, Elizabeth pried Blaine away from Kurt and gathered him in her arms, whispering soothing words, “Shh, Blainey-bear, it’s okay. Can you tell me what’s wrong?”, but Blaine continued to sob, clinging to her desperately, refusing to answer. Frowning, Elizabeth glanced questioningly over at Blaine’s nanny, hoping she knew.
The nanny looked sadly at Blaine before explaining, “Earlier today, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson informed the staff, and Blaine that they would be moving to New York next week.”
Kurt stared up at her wide eyed, before looking at his mother, “Mommy, Blaine’s staying with us, right?”
Shaking her head sadly, she pulled him over to her, embracing him along with Blaine, “I’m afraid it doesn’t work that way, Kurt. Blaine’s mommy and daddy will have to take him with them.”
Kurt shook his head frantically, “But he’s my best friend forever, he’s sposed to be with me always.” he said desperately as tears began to spill down his face once again.
Elizabeth held both boys to her tightly as tears began leak from her own eyes, “I’m sorry Kurt, there’s nothing I can do,” she said as her heart broke for both boys.
Both boys spent the rest of the day clinging to the other, sobbing. Blaine ended up staying the night, as he refused to leave when his nanny tried to get him to leave.
The rest of the week continued the same, both boys sobbing, and Blaine staying with them during the night.
On Blaine’s last day there, both boys found themselves sitting on the swing set in Kurt’s back yard, waiting for Blaine’s parents to arrive. Kurt was glancing over at Blaine, hiccupping quietly from sobbing so much, while Blaine stared at the ground, as quiet as he had been the day they met.
“You’re still my best friend forever, you know, and I’ll find you again one day. Mommy says we’re sposed to be together forever,” Kurt said quietly after the silence became to much.
Blaine sniffled, looking over at Kurt, “You promise?”
Kurt nodded and reached over, grabbing Blaine’s hand, “Promise.”
Blaine smiled sadly, staring at their hands, and bracelets, “I’m never taking mine off.”
Kurt smiled sadly, staring at them as well, as he agreed, “Me either.”

Blaine’s parents arrived soon after, and both boys had to be dragged from the other kicking and screaming. Both spent months having nightmares, screaming out for the other in their sleep.
Elizabeth cursed the Andersons for being so heartless, and prayed that Blaine would be okay. She knew both boys would find each other again someday.. it was fate. She just hoped that day would be soon, because without Blaine, her Kurt would never be the same.
