Author's Notes: Sorry for the wait, my life has been pretty hectic lately....enjoy!

After the first initial shock subsided and Kurt's mind was able to focus on other things than,

HOLY SHIT HE WINKED, IS HE FLIRTING? OR IS HE LIKE THAT TO EVERYONE? WHY WOULD HE EVEN FLIRT, KURT SHUT UP, HE JUST WANTS TO MESS WITH YOUR FEELINGS,

he decided to read the note again. Well, there it was, a question, Blaine giving him the opportunity to answer. Kurt began chewing his bottom lip again as he scribbled on the paper, not paying attention to anything else other than the question.

Coffee. Most of the time. Grande non-fat mochas are my weakness.

Kurt folded the note as neatly as he recieved it, with only barely shaking hands. He was proud of himself.

However, Mercedes noticed it when she took the note to pass it on to Blaine.

Are you alright? Is he bothering you?

No, well, I dunno. But it's okay, just not what I expected.

You're doing great Kurt, I'm so proud of you :)

Kurt slightly blushed at that, but he felt himself sitting up straighter. He still wasn't used to people calling him out on every step he made. It felt great.

The next time Mercedes reached inside his personal space, the note wasn't from her.

Ditto. Well coffee, not the mocha. I love me some medium drip.

Chocolate or Vanilla?

The bell rang before Kurt got the chance to answer. He packed his books into his bag and looked at Mercedes. The girl was chatting quietly to Blaine who smiled and nodded. She turned around to Kurt. "Shall we?" she asked, extending her arm. They'd done this for a few days, so it wasn't weird for Kurt to slip is arm through hers as they began walking out of the classroom. At least not anymore. Every touch still surprised Kurt. He was wondering what they had talked about, but didn't ask. They walked to history after they stopped at their lockers and that was when Kurt noticed Blaine was following them. Usually he just showed up in the classroom and vanished during the breaks.

Okay, so he's walking behind you, no big deal, there are a lot of people walking behind you.But what if he plays nice and just waits for you to open up and then he'll push you and watch you fall?

He wanted to ask the girl who was still linked to his arm about it, but he still was unsure about talking. He got judged a lot because of his voice. The hallway was really crowded. But he did know that he couldn't wait forever to actually talk with people if he wanted to study in New York. He took a huge breath and leaned closer to Mercedes, his voice as quiet as possible.

"Is he following us? I have a really bad fe-umph!" Mercedes turned her head, stopping abruptly, big eyes at Kurt. Which ended in Blaine walking right into Kurt.

"Oh my god, I am so sorry, but you, she...you stopped walking and...," Mercedes saved the rambling boy, who was currently starring at Kurt, and laid a hand on his shoulder.

"It's okay, Anderson, my fault." She pulled Kurt forward by the hand, not stopping until she reached their seats. She turned to Kurt but didn't let go of his hand. Instead she placed her other hand on his, too, cupping his lean fingers inside her own. Her eyes sparkled and she looked so happy. He didn't even tried to get away from the touch, too shocked from what happened.

"You talked to me," she simply stated.

Kurt, still not over the incident in the hallway, just nodded.

"Kurt, you have no idea what that means to me."

He nodded again. His mind somewhere else. After they sat down he noticed that Blaine didn't sit next to his friend, he stayed in the front. He shook is head to clear his mind; this wasn't important right now, he freakin' spoke! Slowly it dawned to him.

HOLY SHIT I SPOKE, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HALLWAY!

Mercedes saw the chains in his brain working and could literally see the progress on his face. First he looked confused. Then shocked. And then a grin slowly spread across his face.

Kurt lifted the hand that was not linked with Mercedes' and touched his mouth.

"I spoke," he whispered, and he could feel his face color again. But he didn't even care. He was talking and it felt great.

"Yes you did, honey. I am so happy for you. You do realize that this is a huge step, right? We should do something special today. What are your thoughts on ice cream?" the girl pratically jumped up and down in her seat.

He thought about that for a moment, wondering if he should write it down, he didn't want to overuse his new ability, afraid he might loose it if something bad happened.

But no, he was Kurt Hummel, he could do it.

"Thank you, 'cedes. Without you I wouldn't be where I am right now. And I'd love some ice cream," a small tear made it's way down his cheek, but it was because he was so happy. He wiped it away, smiling at the girl.

"You're more than welcome, Kurt, but I think this guy," she waved her hand in the general direction of Blaine, "did a great job, too. You wouldn't have spoke if he wasn't following you."

"He kinda freaks me out, with his whole behavior. Wait, ME?"

"Oooh yes, hon, he's really determined to get to know you."

Kurt felt the tips of his ears getting hot, but if asked he'd totally deny it.

"But you talk all the time, I just swap some notes." Kurt still couldn't believe the boy could be more interested in him than in Mercedes. Only if he really just wanted to screw him. In the bad way.

"Guess what we are talking about? He asks about you all. The. Time. "

In this moment their teacher walked in, successfully stopping their conversation at the worst point possible.

Do you think he is angry or something?

Kurt knew he wouldn't have to write the name down, Mercedes would know who he was reffering to anyway.

She confirmed his assumption when he read her answer:

I don't think so. He may be a bit flustered. He ran into you while stalking, I guess he's at least as shocked as you were. ;)

Do you think....do you think he has good intentions? I mean,....he's not just waiting for a great moment to torture me?

I don't know him that well, but he's a good guy. Besides, I never saw him interacting with the other boys. And he asks about Glee club ;)

Now or never, Kurt thought, chewing his bottom lip.

Do you know where his locker is?

Why , Hummel? Yes I do btw.

Just...because of reasons. I may want to slip him a note.

Shit Kurt, where does this come from, you hardly now the boy, why do you bother whether he is alright or not. A few weeks ago you were barely comfortable writing with Mercedes. Steps, Kurt, not jumps. You may overtake yourself.

He thought about that for a few more moments, trying to decide whether he was moving too fast or not. But he couldn't stop. Not now. Not when everything seemed to work so great. He didn't know when he'd get the chance again. And hell, Blaine was a nice guy, it would be stupid to let go of the opportunity to become his friend.

When the final bell rang, he waited until all pupils left the classroom, including Blaine. Mercedes stayed behind with him until they could be sure that Blaine wouldn't be at his locker anymore. They went by and Kurt hurriedly slipped a note inside before he could talk himself out of it. It was a simple answer to Blaine's last question. Kurt hoped it would show that he didn't care about the encounter they had earlier today.
