This chapter is a little short as I just wanted to give a flavour of what the fic is going to be about. If anyone is wondering, this is a rewrite of My Original Sin as I had better ideas and wasnt happy with how that was going. Anyway please read, review and enjoy :)
For the first time in Kurt Hummels life he was incredibly proud of himself. Walking through the bustling streets of New York City he felt hed finally accomplished something. Just getting out of Lima was a breath of fresh air, he was sure he would never be free from Limas clutches and to finally let go felt so uplifting. He missed his family and his friends but he knew he was exactly where he was meant to be.
Of course the thought of living in the same apartment complex as Rachel Berry didnt sound exactly appealing. It wasnt as if he didnt love her company it was just she could be so tactless when it came to his feelings, he just knew she would boast all about NYADA unaware that those wounds were still fresh. It really had knocked his confidence, rejection hurt but it certainly wasnt a new feeling. He always felt his place was on the sidelines, watching everyone in the spotlight and wishing he could have his chance. And now he had it, New York wasnt just about NYADA, to him it was about new oppurtunities and a chance to become independant and exceed at something. And if he knew one thing, it was that he was ten times better than Rachel Berry when it came to fashion. So an internship at Vogue sounded like a dream come true, maybe NYADA needed to be put on hold while he found his new independence.
But for now at least all he could think about was that he was lost in a city he barely even knew. But something led him into a small Starbucks at the end of the street, it could have been the sweet yet strong smell of grounded coffee beans or the smoldering look of the most beautiful creature he ever laid eyes on with a green apron tied tightly around his waist...
Blaine Anderson was bored, so unbelievably bored. He couldnt put his finger on why, whether he was bored of working or mainly bored of his daily schedules he didnt know. Starbucks wasnt his idea of a dream occupation but it paid and he wasnt exactly living comfortably at the moment, so it had to do for the time being. He was tired of the endless array of girls shyly striding up to him and batting their eyelashes as he took their order, praying he would go all One Direction fanfiction and write his number on their cup. Not that he wasnt flattered, they just didnt exactly mean anything more than a couple bucks and a latte.
Blaine Anderson also wasnt a great believer in love at first sight. He believed you had to really get under someones skin, their deepest secrets, how their mind worked and what made them who they were today. To be warped into every aspect of them to really understand true love. How could you feel such a strong emotion that takes over your entire being, your entire way of thinking with just one glance? Sure, it was nice to think about, but he believed in a realistic view of the world.
It wasnt as if he wasnt romantic, he treated his girlfriend well and he was happy but he just didnt understand what the movies and music were all telling him about love. It was supposed to be a feeling that you felt almost instantly, as someone walked into the room you felt this electrifying spark and you loose control of all your senses. You cant think clearly and you have trouble focusing on anything other than them, they captivate you. Its like youre blind to anything but them, seeing them in such a radiant light. With his girlfriend it never felt that way instantly, a few months and he was comfortable with her, he thought that was what love was. Being comfortable with someone so that youre so used to them was what love meant to him, all these fabricated feelings in songs and movies were just a sugarcoating to give a more romantic view.
"Excuse me?" Blaine broke out of his daydream about philosophy as his ears detected a soft voice that sent a tingle of electricity down his spine. He whipped around sharply and was almost taken aback by what he saw.
There in front of him stood the most beautiful human being hed ever laid his eyes on. It was as if hed been carved out of the most intricate of marble sent down from the heavens. Light copper hair styled into a neat quiff, sturdily tall and very well built, judging by the way his shirt clung to his long torso. Captivating cerulean eyes that bore into his and a small, shy grin adorned his lips that made Blaine concious if his jaw had accidently dropped. His heart was skipping necersary beats and he could feel his pulse throbbing in his neck, however he cleared his throat as he realised hed been staring at the boy longer than was considered normal. The boy shot him a shy smile and fumbled with his fingers nervously which Blaine thought was utterly adorable.
"And what can I get for you today?" he asked gently, smiling a wide smile that he just couldnt control. He leaned over, resting his hands on the counter as if he needed to be closer to the dazzling stranger. Suprisingly, the beautiful boy didnt back away, instead Blaine watched in awe as he nervously grinned and tried to compose himself which almost drove him wild.
"Just a pumpkin spiced latte please" he said sweetly, Blaine could easily tell the boy was the most kindest person hed ever come across, it couldve been the way his voice dripped like honey or maybe the way his eyes screamed friendliness either way he was fully enveloped in his warmth.
"One overrated Tumblr drink coming right up" he smirked, chuckling at the boys fake scoff at his comment.
Blaine tried to compose himself as he made the drink, he tried to calm his shaking hands which were sweating nervously. He tried to regain control of his quick breathing and his racing pulse, he shook his head because he knew he wasnt allowed to feel this way. It wasnt normal, hed never done this with any other attractive customer that had walked in. New York was full of models wanting a quick coffee on the go and hed never bothered to even give them a real smile. But something about this boy was different, he took his time as he couldnt face the reality that hed walk out of the shop probably never to return. He marked on the cup cute Tumblr boy realising hed never even asked his name.
"Is that latte to go?" Blaine asked, he felt as if it wasnt a question, more of a hope that he would stay. He smiled a coy smile, brushing his curls out his eyes nervously. He wasnt sure what was coming over him, he felt as if he were back in high school and he was trying to ask someone to a dance. Something about this felt oddly right, a feeling hed been trying to tear himself away from, locking it away deep inside. He was just so mesmerising, he hadnt seen in anyone else what hed seen in this boy and that was starting to become frightening. He could see the boy knew what was going on, he could detect from the way he was gazing at him with wide, pleading eyes. He really wasnt paying attention to anything other than the magnificent human who was standing before him, he could have a whole line of customers screaming at him to hurry up and hed still take his time soaking up the beauty of the boy.
"I dont suppose so, I think I might stay awhile" the boy replied, smiling a dazzling smile that awakened a beautiful, warm sensation in the pit of Blaines stomach. He giggled nervously and looked down at his shaking hands on the counter, looking up as he heard the other boy chuckle with a voice as thick with nerves as him.
"I dont get off until around five but Ill see if I can get someone to cover for me for a while and maybe I can finally know your name?" he offered, cursing himself for literally throwing himself at the other boy, he probably sounded so desperate but he wasnt in a logical frame of mind. All he could think about was spending more time listening to his magical voice and drowning in those gorgeous eyes.
"I thought you might prefer cute Tumblr boy but sure I suppose you could come and join me seen as I dont have anywhere to be, Curly" he smirked, taking one last longing look at him before chuckling at walking to a table.
"The names Blaine" he called out, watching the other boy turn his head sharply and smile coyly.
"Kurt" he replied and Blaine couldnt help but think about the way that name rolled off of his tounge so beautifully.
Every single rational thought that was screaming for him to stay away had died down and quickly he was begging his best friend Sam to cover for him while he tried to make sense of what he was trying to accomplish. He didnt know why he was doing this, it was so unlike him, he was being adventureous and exciting something he hadnt been in a long time. He knew he shouldnt but he longed too, hed surpressed those kinds of feelings for such a long time and it felt so uplifting to finally let them breathe again. The boy appeared kind and gentle, something that had always captivated him and pulled him towards a person, yet for someone hed only met for a matter of minutes he could tell he was different.
All of a sudden his body was no longer in his control and a strong chemical reaction was happening deep inside him, his blood racing and he just felt so warm and content. He breathed deeply, he could handle it, he could act calm and composed and totally focused. As he walked to the table, smoothing his unruly ebony curls and wiping his coffee stained apron he saw the boy look up at him, meeting his gaze and eyes lighting up like a match.
Oh yes, he could definitely handle this.
