‘Kurt! Kurt, stop.’

Blaine ran out of the shop, tossing $10 onto the table as he left. He caught sight of Kurt’s red scarf and jogged after it.

‘Kurt,’ He gasped, grabbing his shoulder and spinning him round.

Kurt’s face was crumpled, and he was trying hard not to cry.

‘Not now Blaine, please.’ He shoved his hands deep into his pockets, turned on his heel, and left, leaving Blaine standing in the middle of the street, utterly confused.

———-

He can’t know, no one knows. How could he? It’s stupid, this is all stupid, I should never have done this.

————-

‘-and he just walked away.’

Rachel stared up at him with wide eyes.

‘Was it something you said?’

Blaine scrubbed a hand over his face.

‘That’s the thing. I gave him the present, and he was thanking me, but when he saw it, I don’t know, he just threw it down and left.’

‘Maybe he didn’t like it?’ Rachel was in the kitchen stirring some cocoa.

‘He would’ve just said.’ Blaine furrowed his brow, deep in thought. ‘And..Kurt’s not like that. He looked really upset.’

‘Bad memories?’ Rachel offered, and handed him the steaming mug.

‘Maybe. But I don’t see how a bracelet, which was pretty awesome if I may say so myself, could bring back bad memories.’

‘You never know.’ Rachel said wisely. Blaine nodded slowly in agreement and sipped at his drink.

‘Are you gonna call him?’ Rachel asked.

‘Yeah, probably. But now now. Later.’

‘Okay.’

———————————-

A noise brought Blaine back to the present and he jumped.

One new message

He grabbed his phone and stabbed at the buttons.

Kurt: I’m sorry about earlier. I feel like I should explain.

Blaine: You don’t have to, really.

Kurt: No, I want to.

Kurt: Can I come over tomorrow? If that’s okay with you.

Blaine: Yeah, of course.

Blaine: Is ten good?

Kurt: That sounds great. See you then x.

It was only when Blaine was just on the edge of sleep, that he realised he hadn’t given Kurt his address.

—————

‘Rachel, he is here in twenty minutes, go away!’ Blaine hissed, shooing her out of the kitchen.

‘Blaine! Let me get dressed first.’ She glared at him and slammed her bedroom door.

——————

‘RACHEL GET OUT OF HERE NOW HE WANTS TO TALK TO ME AND I DOUBT HE WANTS YOU HERE’

Rachel burst out of her room looking flustered. Then Blaine took in her appearance. She was clad in a tight fitting navy top with an incredibly short skirt.

‘Uh.. why are you dressed like that?’ Blaine asked, momentarily forgetting his rush.

She blushed.

‘I’m just going to meet someone.’

Blaine raised an eyebrow.

‘And who might this someone be?’

‘His name’s Finn, and I promise I’ll tell you everything later.’

Finally she left, winking at Blaine and snatching up her ‘date coat’ as Blaine had named it some time ago.

Deep breath, Blaine. Just, sit calmly. No then it looks like you’ve been waiting. Don’t wanna seem creepy. But it probably won’t matter now, you’ve already scared him enough

He settled on making some coffee, to preoccupy himself and to have something to use as small talk.

A knock sounded.

‘Hi Blaine.’ Kurt looked serious, but his eyes lit up when he saw Blaine, even if it was just for a second.

‘Hey Kurt, I’m just making some coffee, would you like some?’ He was hoping Kurt would say yes, because he had enough nervous energy anyway, and coffee would turn him into some sort of hyper squirrel.

‘Yeah, sure.’ Kurt said absent-mindedly, hanging his coat on the empty hook.

When Blaine was finished making the coffee he brought the mug over to Kurt, and a glass of water for himself. Luckily Kurt didn’t seem to notice.

‘So about yesterday.’ They both said at once. Blaine laughed nervously.

‘You go.’ He prompted. Kurt took a deep breath, looking like he was about to walk to the gallows.

‘When you gave me the present yesterday. I didn’t leave because I hated it, it was beautiful. I just..’ He twisted his hands nervously, and Blaine saw he was still wearing gloves. ‘Back in Ohio..’

He stopped. Blaine felt so sorry for him in that moment, he looked so terrified, he wanted to hold him close and tell him it would be alright.

Kurt took a shuddering breath, and carried on, avoiding Blaine’s eyes.

‘I had a boyfriend. His name was Sebastian and he was great. He was funny, smart, attractive, and he was so nice to me.’ Kurt gave a bitter laugh before continuing. ‘We had been dating for about a year and a half… he was always possessive of me, but one night, I think he had been drinking..

He told me that if he ever saw me talking to another guy, he would leave me. I thought he was joking so I laughed it off. But a few weeks later I met this guy Chandler in a record store. He was really sweet and we started texting.

But when Sebastian found out.. he was so angry.. he screamed at me for hours about how I didn’t deserve him, that I was ungrateful and that I belonged to him like… like some sort of possession. And…’ Kurt looked down at his twisting hands and his voice cracked slightly.

End Notes: This turned out a bit more depressing than I intendedsorry

It might have been kind of sad but it was still really good. It was nice that Kurt actually decided to explain his reaction instead of just running away from Blaine. I can't wait to see where Kurt and Blaine go from here and to see how Rachel's date with Finn turned out.

woohoo glad you liked it! Your feedback means everything thank you thank you!
