"I need to talk to you and Finn." Burt said as he sat down across from his boys on the couch. "We're getting an exchange student."
"WHAT? SERIOUSLY?" Finn said with excitement.
"Yeah, he is gonna be living with you, Kurt." His dad said as he looked at his son from across the room.
"Why not Finn? I don't like sharing my space with other people." Kurt whined.
Of course he wanted to get an exchange student, but he wasn't very fond of the idea of sharing a room with a complete stranger.
"No offense, but you would probably scare him off, Finn, You're sorta messy." Burt said as he avoided eye contact with Finn.
"It's ok." Finn frowned.
"Dad, I don't want some other person that I don't know living with me. What if he doesn't even speak English?" Kurt exaggerated.
"He is from Canada, Kurt. He speaks English. His name is Blaine Anderson, and he's 16, same as you guys. He will be a junior, and I made sure he is in most of your classes so you two can help him out. Any other questions?" Burt said as he got up off the couch.
"Yeah, when is he coming?" Finn asked.
"Tomorrow." Burt said, and he walked out of the room with a smile on his face.
Kurt wondered while he was in his bed that night if this guy would actually be cool. He would be living with him for a year, and was supposed to treat this stranger like his own brother. He was scared, but he knew that it would make his dad happy, and hey, he might even get a new friend out of this.
They all got to the airport the next morning, and held up a big sign that read Blaine. They stood in the crowded airport for a good 45 minutes when a young boy walked up to them. He was carrying a black backpack on his back and he looked exhausted.
"Hi! I'm Blaine. " He said as he glanced up at his host family, and smiled.
'Hey! I'm Burt!" Burt said as he hugged Blaine. They all introduced themselves ,and then it was Kurt's turn.
"Hey! I'm Kurt." He said as he held out his hand for a handshake, but Blaine pulled him in for a hug.
"It's so nice to meet you, Kurt" Blaine said as he let go of Kurt. Kurt just stared at this guy for a few minutes. He was gorgeous. He had the curliest brown hair he had ever seen, and he could easily get lost in his eyes. Kurt couldn't stop staring at the boy standing in front of him. He thought that he was the sexiest man in all of North America, but then he remembered that he was his "brother", and he shouldn't be thinking like that.
They got his luggage, and tossed it on the back of their blue minivan. They all talked on the way home, and told Blaine about school and the sports that they had there. He was so excited to be in America, and to go to school here. This was his lifelong dreams, and he was finally getting to live it. They arrived home and took his bags down to Kurt's room.
"Blaine, this is the room you"ll be sharing with me, if that's ok?" Kurt asked as he dropped Blaine's suitcase next to the twin sized bed on the right side of the room.
"Yeah, thats fine. It's really nice in here. Did you design this yourself?" Blaine asked as he admired the beautiful artwork hanging on the tan walls.
"Yeah, and so did Finn, but he was no help at all. " Kurt said as he sat down on his blue bedspread.
"So, how old are you?" Kurt asked Blaine who was sitting on the dark carpet unpacking his suitcase.
"I'm 16. Gonna be 17 next month. And you?"
"16. My birthday is in December. We are gonna be in most of the same classes. My dad made sure you were because he wanted you to know people at school," Kurt said, and he smiled.
"Do you like school? Like what is this school like?" Blaine asked
"Yes, and no. I like Glee club, but I don't really like the school, Or the people in it." Kurt said as he lowered his head. He wasn't really excited about school. The bullying was gonna be ten times worse this year. He could tell.
"Whats wrong with the people?" Blaine asked as he zipped up his maroon suitcase.
"They hate me because I'm gay, and I get bullied every day. But its nothing you have to worry about. They will love you. They have nothing to make fun of you about." Kurt said, and he shot Blaine a smile.
They got ready for bed, and turned off the lights.
"Goodnight, Blaine."
"Night, Kurt" Blaine replied, but he could already hear Kurt snoring lightly.
Blaine couldn't fall asleep for what seemed like hours, because his mind was racing. It wasn't because he was in new house, or that he was in a completely different country. It was because he couldn't stop thinking about the boy that was sleeping not five feet away from him. He wanted be as open as Kurt about who he truly was but he was too scared. He had just figured out he was gay, and he hadn't even told his dad yet.
