Blaine didn’t register anything but the emotional numbness that washed over him after he had sunk into the cream ocean of carpet. He had counted two sunrises. He stared at the torn pages, focusing on the black inked words scrawled on the pages in a hurried manner. Something in his brain clicked when he saw the actual words that were written down. Kurt Hummel had been scribbled out and then rewritten over the entire page. He struggled to remember when he wrote it and struggled to remember how he got here on the floor. How he got to this place where he was starving himself from social interaction and shutting himself off to release the real demons inside his mind. Blaine blinked and tried to force himself off of the floor but his joints were whining. He still hadn’t slept in several days. His eyes ached to close and dart behind his eyelids. Instead he curled further into himself, the chill of being practically naked finally reaching his bones. He felt hands touch him and he was completely ashamed. Blaine wanted to lash out at the touch but was far too tired to do anything but comply. “Fuck… Blaine. Can you hear me?” Kurt asked him, the shyness apparent in his voice. He blinked away every thought in his mind and sat up for the blue-eyed wonder. He tried not to wince as he saw the alarm in his eyes.
“Kurt.” Blaine breathed out. “How are you?”
“How am I?” Kurt asked, disbelief spreading across his face as he glanced around at the destruction in the small space.
“Yes.” He replied, his voice gravelly and low. Kurt sunk down on the floor next to him.
“I’ve certainly been better.” Kurt said solemnly with his mouth set in a firm, straight line.
“Why?” Blaine asked, trying not to shake as the cold met his bare skin when he adjusted to get closer to the slender boy.
“I’m very tired.” Kurt said, smiling wanly.
“I know how you feel. But you don’t have class today, so why don’t you take a nap?” Blaine suggested.
“Who’s going to help you clean this up?” Kurt asked Blaine tersely. For the first time, Blaine glanced around at the actual state of the room, and then shrugged. “I’ll get it. I made the mess so I’ll clean it up,” he said with another shrug. Kurt opened his mouth but Blaine shook his head. “Seriously. Go take a nap.”

Kurt’s mind was reeling. His body had been so close to Blaine’s; his ridiculously luscious lips had been mere feet from his own. He stood up after a few moments of simply drinking in Blaine’s presence. He was so confused about the boy whose hair was literally always impeccable and skin so clear Kurt couldn’t help but want to touch it all, every inch of his permanently flawless skin. His hands were still warm from touching Blaine’s shoulder. He had been genuinely afraid that Blaine was going to be completely unresponsive. Hours rolled by as Kurt slept peacefully tucked into his most comfortable pajamas underneath the soft navy blue 600-thread cotton sheets. When Kurt awoke he found Blaine in the living room, kneeling at the foot of the coffee table. He walked towards him noticing, slightly to his chagrin, that he was fully dressed. When Kurt circled to truly face him he realized how extremely weary Blaine looked.
“Hey Blaine.” Kurt said, standing over him.
“You’re awake.” Blaine stated, looking up at him.
“I have Warblers practice in about an hour. Are you really okay?” Kurt asked him, deciding to sit down beside the boy.
“Even if I wasn’t okay, it’s hardly like I’m going to fucking confide in you, Hummel.” Blaine snapped with irritability, his eyes glowing with something unrecognizable. Kurt flinched at his tone and tried not to look like he had been affected. The storm in his hazel eyes passed and his expression softened. Blaine sighed and rubbed his temples. “I’m sorry. Yes. I’m okay.” Kurt checked the clock silently holding in his hurt feelings. Seven minutes of silence passed as Kurt watched him work on Calculus. His mind wandered back to the dream and he felt his temperature rise.
“It’s been a long day. You should probably get going though. I’m sure the Warblers will be expecting you to be there promptly.” Blaine said, his voice sounding strained. He nodded barely at him, the storm back in his eyes.
“I’ll- I’ll see you later then.” Kurt said, standing and leaving, locking the door behind him. Blaine’s mood swings were really throwing him off, he thought as he tried to untwist the knot he had in his stomach.
“Kurt! My main man!” Nick exclaimed, clamping an arm around his shoulder.
“Hi Nick.” Kurt said with a smile.
“I saw you were heading to practice so I figured I’d join you,” Nick continued, seemingly unaware that Kurt spoke at all. Kurt did his best to zone him out as their steps echoed in the mostly empty and vast halls. “Have any new boy toys that you’re going to ask to the formal, Kurtsie?” He said in a teasing tone. Kurt’s heart nearly stopped as they reached the double doors.
“No. Why would I?” Kurt said, trying not to think of Blaine in a suit dancing with him.
“Because! Love is in the air my friend and everyone needs love sometimes!” Nick boomed, extending his arms out to the Warblers who were sitting in the practice room. They all nodded and expressed their agreement.
“Seriously, Hummel. You need to get a date, or else I’ll be forced to find you one myself.” Nick threatened with a slightly malicious smile.
“Personally, I’m surprised they’re even having a dance after what happened three years ago to Blaine.” Wes said, quietly.
“Blaine?” Kurt asked, his stomach retying and his blood rushing to his head. “Blaine Anderson?”
End Notes: FInally Beta'd! The Warblers seems way too chipper, probably because of the Fall Formal coming up... ;)This cliff hanger is gonna lead to some pretty interesting results. And please review?
