“Hello?” Blaine called out. Kurt heard a light shuffle and he guessed that Blaine had stood up. Kurt bit his bottom lip and tried not to move or breath, feeling like he was trespassing. Blaine opened the door even more and came face to face with Kurt; the overwhelming smell of peppermint filled Kurt’s sense, there was another scent that Kurt couldn’t place.
“Hello.” Kurt said weakly. He hoped that Blaine couldn’t hear heart that was pounding clamorously, and waited for Blaine’s response with baited breath.
“You’re back.” Blaine finally stated, his low and slightly gravelly voice sending a slight shiver down Kurt’s spine. His gaze flicked downwards to the floor and then back up to meet Kurt’s face.
“Yes. I didn’t really want to disturb you.” Kurt answered, taking a small step backwards.
“I wasn’t doing anything important, just some AP Calculus.” Blaine said breezily. Kurt tried to mask the slight shock that Blaine was studying something so advanced. Not that he thought Blaine was stupid or anything, he was positive that Blaine was capable of doing AP Calculus. He realized that he had just been rambling inside his head and decided it was best for him to leave.
“Well. I’ll leave you to do that.” Kurt said after a moment, taking several steps back and walking to the kitchen.

Blaine was surprised by the fact that he didn’t want Kurt Hummel to stop talking to him. He had spent most of his weekend in complete isolation so he guessed he was craving interaction. He was even more so surprised that Kurt hadn’t talked about his weekend trip, but then again they were only strangers after all; he watched Kurt’s retreating figure with a sudden desire to chase after him and have a meaningless conversation about the curriculum.
But instead, he turned around and slipped back inside his room wordlessly. The problems on the paper swam in front of his eyes. He cursed under his breath when he realized he had been trying to do the same problem for the last five minutes. He gave up; pushing his chair back, he stood up to find his roommate. When he found him, Kurt was sitting on the couch, eyes glued to the television. It was some reality program with six girls and one guy, all dressed formally and the guy holding roses. Blaine glanced from the television to Kurt and then to the empty spot on the couch, he sucked in a deep breath before straightening up and striding over to the empty spot with a false sense of purpose.
“What is this?” Blaine asked Kurt incredulously. Kurt didn’t even seem to notice that Blaine had even sat down. Blaine’s gaze stayed on him, while Kurt’s was still on the television; he heard one girl crying pitifully. Finally, a commercial sounded and Kurt turned his attention towards Blaine.
“Oh, it’s The Bachelor.” He answered with a large smile.
“The Bachelor? That sounds horribly cheesy.” Blaine said with a tentative smile.
“It is. That’s why it’s so great.” Kurt said, shrugging. Blaine turned his attention back to the television and decided to try and relax.

Kurt couldn’t relax. How could he? It had to be Blaine that was setting him on edge. They had never had a moment to truly be with each other; it hardly seemed appropriate. This was their first day together, there was bound to be some casual (and at most) - awkward moments. He tried to remember what the last day for term was and came up with nothing. Slowly, he shifted his gaze to Blaine, trying to act inconspicuous. He was completely oblivious to Kurt with his eyes trained intently on the screen. Kurt found himself wondering what was going on inside his head. He took a note that he still used a lot of gel before he tore his eyes away from his roommate and focused back onto the show.
