Blaine laid on his bed staring at the Green Day poster on his wall. He didn't understand his feelings, and he had no one under the sun to talk about them to. He was in love with Billie Joe Armstrong. But boys should not love other boys. That's what everyone says, his mother, his father, his pastor. But Blaine couldn't control his emotions or dreams defiantly not his fantasizes.
Blaine hated to think it but maybe he was gay. Maybe despite everything he was taught and he believed in, he was gay. He loved boys and that was that. Blaine didn't know what to do.
He considered taking the poster down to stop these unwholesome thoughts but he couldn't bring himself to it. There were a variety of things he wanted to do but couldn't find the push or courage to do so. He often wondered if he ever would.
There was a quick tap on Blaine's door before his brother walked in smiling and chatting breaking Blaine inner conflictions.
"Hey squirt, get dressed I got us a date." Cooper said walking to Blaine closet picking out a tee-shirt.
"Okay then, who are these girls?" Blaine asked sound displeased as he scooted to the end of his bed.
Cooper noticed Blaine’s displeasure and turned to him, "Amy and Tara." He sighed, "I'm sorry, I know you can pull girls for yourself, and you're probably tired of tagging along with me. But I promise this is the last one. After Amy, strictly college girls."
"Its not that Cooper." Blaine sighed. Here he was trying to think of an excuse not to go with this girl but he couldn't tell his brother.
"What is Blaine? You know you can tell me anything." Cooper said crossing the room sitting beside Blaine.
Blaine could have told Cooper, if Cooper didn't like that Blaine was gay, he left for college in two months anyway. But the slight chance Cooper didn't care Blaine would gain some one he could be honest with.
"It’s nothing really. I'm just tired. Could we maybe pick up some coffee before we go?" Blaine asked. Cooper didn't look convinced but he knew Blaine would tell him what it was soon enough.
"Of course, just don't tell mom I'm giving you coffee." Cooper said returning to the closet, "We are going to see some chick flick, hope you don't mind. We'll get ice cream after."
After the movie Cooper paid for ice cream as promised as Blaine and Tara sat in a booth across from Amy and Cooper. Blaine really liked the movie The Lake House meant more to him then Tara. It was obvious how little she knew about true love.
"I don't know, I just didn't like it, why would a person from the past fall in love with someone in the future. How does that even work?" Tara complained eating her bowl of ice-cream.
Blaine licked his cone and shrugged, "it made sense to me. But love is love to me, so what if time separated them, in the end they were happy right."
"You're weird Blaine," Tara giggled and returned focus to her ice cream. Blaine was use to the reaction but her next comment he wasn't expecting at all. "Wanna make out?"
"What?!" Blaine stammered, "Why would you ask something like that?"
"We are on a date Anderson. I didn't think you were such a prude." Tara laughed.
"I just don't like kissing..."
"You have right? Kissed a girl that is. I mean we are about to freshmen in high school." Tara set her ice cream aside and waited for Blaine’s answer.
"Of course I've kissed a girl Tara, I didn't like it." Blaine answered casting his eyes away from her. It was like she knew he was gay or something. He should just kiss her and get it over with.
"Bullshit, you've never been kissed. Can I have your first kiss?" She laughed taking Blaine’s ice-cream and licking it.
"Tara I have kissed a girl." Blaine said growing irritated, he leaned over and pressed his lips to hers quickly and sat back. "There's your kiss."
"That's not how you kiss a girl you like." Tara said blushing a bit.
"Who said I liked you?" Blaine raised his eye brow and Tara thought he was joking then realized he wasn't.
"It’s not like I liked you either." She hissed walking away from their table throwing his ice-cream in the trash. Blaine sighed and dropped his head into his hands. Tara’s seat was occupied and Blaine looked up at his brother’s goofy grin.
"What happened?" He asked.
"I don't like her." Blaine simply said.
"Yeah, her sisters nothing special either, ready to get out of here?" Cooper stood up as Blaine followed his lead. Amy was talking to Tara but Cooper stepped in and gave her a kiss good night before walking out the door with Blaine on his flank.
Blaine leaned on the door watching the lights as Cooper drove home. There was so much going in his head he thought it would explode. Scenario after scenario of what Cooper would do if Blaine told him.
Everything from being speechless to beating the crap out of Blaine crossed his mind. Why was this happening to Blaine? He played his whole life out, joining the navy then joining the FBI making his father proud. All he wanted to do was make them proud, being gay was the exact opposite of his wishes.
"Blaine, you okay?" Cooper asked looking over at Blaine in the passenger seat. Blaine didn't realize he was crying until Cooper said something. Blaine wiped his eyes quickly and shook his head.
"Nothing." Blaine said quickly. Cooper pulled the car over and asked Blaine again.
"Blaine you can tell me anything." Cooper assured Blaine.
Blaine shook his head, "its nothing Coop, I just want to go home."
"Look, Blaine I know I'm leaving in a few weeks and I don't want you for one second to think you lost your big brother to the college life. I'm going to call and MySpace you all the time. If you get a cell I'll even text you." Cooper said which didn't help at all Blaine started crying.
"Its not that I just. I don't want to disappoint you or dad." Blaine sniffled.
"What are you talking about?" Cooper asked pulling tissues from the glove compartment. He handed a few to Blaine and gave him a moment to collect himself.
"You're just going to hate me. Can we please go home?" Blaine uttered.
"No Blaine, you're a mess we aren't going anywhere until you tell me what's wrong." Cooper said in a very clear voice.
"I don't want to talk about it Cooper." Blaine raised his voice.
"Blaine, whatever it is..." Blaine cut Cooper off and shouted.
"I don't like girls Cooper!"
"Wait what?" Cooper said waiting for Blaine to repeat that.
"I don't know just drop it." Blaine said turning to look back to the window.
"You just told me you are gay, and you want me to drop it and forget about it?" Cooper said choosing each word carefully.
"Yes that's exactly what I want to do, please start driving again before I get out and walk."
"No, we have to talk about this." Cooper said turning the car off, "since when... I mean, how long have you been this way?"
"A while I don't know I'm not you I don't act on my feelings." Blaine said softly.
"I'm sorry I put you through all those dates." Cooper said looking out the windshield.
"I don't care, Cooper, that's what brothers do." Blaine said.
"I still love you Blaine, and I'm sorry I made you tell me. I see why you didn't want to. But this doesn't change us; you're always going to be my little brother." Cooper said pulling Blaine into a hug kissing the top of his head. Blaine couldn't believe that his brother was okay with it. But only time could tell and a few days after Blaine told him, it was Coopers three week trip to Argentina. Blaine hated to see him go but he knows Cooper has been looking forward to it all year.
Blaine was riding around the neighbor hood on his bike seeing if any of his friends were home and wanted to hang out. By the last house Blaine gave up and head back home, stopping at the corner looking at the move it truck in front of the end house. Blaine always watched his mom introduce herself to the new neighbors so he thought why not, it gave him something to do.
He parked his bike at the corner and approached the house. A tall man in flannel handed a box to a boy Blaine’s age before exiting the moving van.
"Excuse me sir, I'm Blaine Anderson, I live up the road I just wanted to welcome you to the neighborhood." Blaine said thinking he nailed it just like his mom.
"That's sweet of you, I'm Burt Hummel, and it’s a bit of a bad time for introductions." Burt said.
"Yes, I was actually wondering if you needed help with boxes or anything." Blaine said taking a few steps closer.
"I think we got it kid, there's a few more my son can grab. But why don't you swing by tomorrow afternoon, I'm sure Kurt could use a friend." Burt said.
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow sir," Blaine smiled and left the Hummel’s and rode back to his house.
"Hey mom," he called kicking his shoes off and running to the kitchen. "We have new neighbors; do you think we can make some cookies or something?" He asked rushing his words.
"Of course, who are they?" Sarah Anderson asked.
"The Hummel’s, they live on Plymouth, I only met Mr. Hummel but I guess he has a son and he invited me over tomorrow." Blaine explained.
"That was sweet of him; we'll go up together, cookies or pie?"
