Author's Notes: Cliffhanger!
Blaine took deep breaths as the gym filled with students and teacher, parent and friends. He along with Rachel, Brody, Kurt, Santana, Tina, and Mercedes waited in the hall way to the locker rooms. Brittany would have been with them but she opened the show from another part of the school.
“I’m really nervous.” Blaine told Tina.
“You’ll be fine. I mean, this is all we do all the time. This time next month you will be singing in the court yard about how awesome your first date was.” She said. “Plus you’re amazing I mean I have total faith in you.”
“Thank you.” Blaine said. “You look really nice by the way.”
“Kurt and I started together, he always lets me perform with him publicly. I just feel really bad for Brittany she has 3 costume changes and some how some way she will knock them all out of the park.”
“5 minutes until Cheerios take the stage. Get ready Santana.” Will said as he walked up to Blaine. “How is everything?”
“I’m fine. I go after Kurt right.” Blaine asked.
“That’s the plan.” He said.
“Right. Okay. This should be exciting.” Blaine smiled as he heard silence behind the doors.
“You’ll do fine Blaine.” Will whispered, “I’m the one who suggested you perform today.” He patted Blaine’s back then He turned on the TV monitor in the hall and stepped out to the dark gym.
Rachel walked over next, he had never seen her look so adult like, she looked like she stepped right out of a Broadway rehearsal. “Turn around bright eyes, tv is over here. I love watching Brittany perform, I don’t know anyone that dances like she can.”
Blaine looked at the monitor and saw Brittany in the hall with cheerios and other dancing girls. Rachel gave his hand a friendly squeeze as they watched Brittany make her way to the gym. Santana rushed passed them and stepped out to the gym. In seconds Brittany stepped to the floor and the crowd went crazy as she sung 'Who Runs The World (Girls)'(LINK). Blaine’s jaw dropped, along with all the other men in the gym, Brittany wore a red fitted PAPA Jersey tucked into a little leather skirt two-inch stiletto thigh high boots with socks peeking over the boot.
She also danced her ass off in the two and a half minutes she performed no one was quiet. Santana came in at the last course singing louder then Blaine thought was even possible as she joined Brittany on center stage. Quinn might have lost her voice but she was dancing as a cheerio right along with the girls.
“Thank you everyone. Quiet please!” She shouted partly winded. Blaine looked out the door then back to the monitor.
“We are the PAPA Cheerios,” Brittany said as the Cheerios did some flips and kicks they got a round of applause. “But we can’t do anything without our fearless coach Sue Sylvester.”
Coach Sue came out and was applauded for. Brittany and Santana ran thought the doors for a quick change. Blaine watched as Brittany was already undressing as she walked back stage. Santana was walking out of her skirt and kicking her shoes off. Blaine turned back to the TV as people helped them change.
“Thank you. I’m really looking forward to this year. 7 consecutive national cheer championships later and I couldn't be happier with my girls and few guy. But the past 3 years I’ve had the pleasure of teaching three girls who have changed my performances for the best. Today I will award all three with an MVP award. The first one goes to Quinn Fabray!” Sue said. “Best captain I have ever had. She keeps the Cheerios looking their best on the field and in the classrooms. She genuinely cares for her teammates, helping them with homework or practice a routine. She is all around a valuable player.” Quinn ran to the stage with a huge grin. She thanked her coach and returned to the sidelines. By then Brittany and Santana changed cloths and were at the door ready to perform again.
“Before I present the next girl, I just want you to see for hand why she is the best female dancer PAPA has ever had. Here she is, performing 'Me Against The Music'(LINK)
with Santana Lopez.” Sue quickly stepped off the stage as set was added.
Blaine watched as Brittany turned into a pop icon dancing back and forth with the best male dancers and female. Santana sung and danced off to the side with the guys cheering the crowd on. Towards the end her and Brittany began to dance together even with the walking cane Santana was using to dance with for the crowd.
Blaine just had the sickest feeling that after a performance like that he couldn’t even try to sing or dance. Those girls owned the stage and everything around them.
The girls received a standing ovation as Santana ran off the floor once more to change cloths.
“Brittany S. Pierce lady’s and gentlemen! She is my top choreographer, I know she will do what ever it takes to help me win, she has never backed down from a challenge. I don’t know what I will do with out her.” Sue said.
Brittany gave her a funny face and accepted the award. She turned her microphone back on, “thank you coach, but before you try to call Santana we have something for you.”
The Dean of performance came out with a certificate, and gave coach a great work speech.
Rachel turned away from the TV to talk to Brody as Santana walked back though with alumni from papa Blaine watch the screen as she returned to the floor in the Cheerios original uniform from when Sue first started. Blaine was shocked, he couldn't even watch anymore. He glanced around the room and everyone was watching but Rachel and Brody, who started practicing.
Santana and 4 other girls gave a great performance as Santana sung Nutbush City Limits(LINK).
Will walked back stage whispering something to Kurt then checking on Blaine. “You're right after Kurt, are you sure you're ready for this?” He asked.
“I am.” Blaine said with a fair nod. He knew he was going to perform eventually but at least he didn’t have to go right behind the Cheerios star performance. Brittany ran back stage stripping her cloths off as students had her dress ready for her. Kurt had on of the theater students with him as he walked to the floor singing music of the night from phantom of the opera.
Blaine turned to watch Kurt. He had a crush developing on Kurt. It was his second day but boy was Kurt perfect. They were taking English together and everything about Kurt excited Blaine. Watching him sing opera(LINK) was amazing but then April Rhodes the theater teacher started shouting. “Stop stop stop! This is all wrong!”
Blaine was confused but then the crowds laughter let him know it was a skit. “Ms. Rhodes, there is nothing wrong with phantom of the opera.”
“I’m bored! Every single student knows that song. Right!?” She asked. The crowd happily replied “right.”
“Its a classic.” Kurt said in his defense.
“Yes but it turns you into the boy next door. If I wanted that I would teach at Dalton.” She said. The crowd boo-d and she turned her back to Kurt. “Don’t comeback unless you can entertain me.”
The theater girl shrugged and walked of stage. Kurt looked at the crowd, “oh I’ll show her.” He ripped off his masquerade “swans!” The girls stepped out as the music started “oh mrs Rhodes,” Kurt sung Not The Boy Next Door(LINK). He ripped his tux off theatrically and danced on the piano.
“Now that’s more like it! Kido you’ve got the stuff! Say, how would you like to star in this years fall musical. The west side story.”
“No, that’s too boy next door for me. I’m sure one of these lovely men would want to be a jet.” Kurt said pointing to the crowd.
“Well, auditions are next week, and I hope to see every single on of you out there.” She said. Her and Kurt walked off the floor together as Will walked on stage.
“As we all know, football here at papa has been doing three times better then when it started 2 years ago. So our boys trapped in an 80’s boombox are out of town at a conference game.” Will said. “But don’t worry for one second, I have our new student Blaine Anderson here ready to rock things out.”
