"Call 911" Blaine heard the man shout. Blaine's stomach tied in knots he turned around as he began to vomit the empty contents in his stomach. His whole body quivered as he listened to the soft whimper of Kurt.
"Darling," Blaine whispered.
The sound of the man earlier began treading in the foliage. "It doesn't look good Shannon,"
"What," Blaine stuttered.
"Hey, kid look at me what hurt." The man said Blaine perked up to listen as hard as he could for Kurt's answer
"Everything." Kurt manages to gets out.
"Kurt!" Blaine said crying again, he couldn't hear himself in the car but he heard the man speak.
"Its going to be alright son, I'm Shawn. Can you tell me your name," Blaine closed his eyes and listened for Kurt's answer.
"Hey, don't you leave me son. Look at me," Blaine opened his eyes and saw Jim racing over to him.
"I need." Kurt said between long breaths, "to call Blaine."
"I will make sure Blaine is the first person you call." Shawn said. "Ambulance is already here son, I'll go with you to the hospital."
Blaine wasn't reacting to Jim call his name, so Jim shook his shoulders and slapped at his cheek.
"Blaine!" Blaine finally looked at Jim, "what is going on?" Jim asked, his thick Chicago accent didn't quite reach Blaine. it took Blaine a moment to realize what Jim was saying.
"I have to get to the hospital." Blaine stuttered.
"Alright, I'll take you. Is Kurt okay?" Jim asked. Blaine started crying shaking his head.
Jim took the keys out of Blaine's shaking hands "is Kurt still on the phone?"
"I can't hear over the ambulance sirens." Blaine said.
"Okay you gotta hang up the phone Blaine." Jim said but Blaine shook his head. "You need to tell his parents, and Rachel." Blaine very hesitantly removed the phone from his ear. He held it out to Jim but Jim had to pry it out of his hand.
"Alright, come on lets get in the car." Jim helped Blaine to his feet and walk around to the passenger side. Blaine got into his Charger and began to sob into his hands. Jim looked at him just wanting to give him some sort of support. Instead he took Blaine's phone and called Carol.
"Hey Blaine, everything alright?" Her calm voice answered the phone as Jim started driving.
"Hi Mrs. Hummel, this Jim, Kurt was in a car accident."
"Oh my god, Burt" carol called her husband. "Is it serious? Is Blaine alright?"
"I don't know, Kurt was on the phone with Blaine when it happened, Blaine is in no condition to talk right now." Jim looked over at Blaine fumbling to compose himself.
"We are leaving the house now." Carol said her voice cracking a bit.
Jim hung up the phone. "Blaine, buddy, were almost there." Blaine didn't look up to Jim he just nodded sniffling. Jim stopped at the light and scanned Blaine's contacts for Rachel's number.
"Hello." She answered just before it went to voice mail. "Hey Rachel its Jim, Kurt was in a car accident," Jim explained.
"No,"She gasped, "is he alright?"
"I don't know were driving to the hospital now." Jim said. Blaine's head shot up as an ambulance drove past them.
"That's Kurt," he said softly as tears streamed down his face.
"I'm on my way." She hung up the phone.
Jim looked at Blaine and decided he should just keep the phone. They pulled into the Westerville hospital, and Jim barely stopped the car before Blaine jumped out. Blaine walked through the ER doors and saw Kurt being pushed through doors. "Sir!" A nurse called.
Blaine turned to her and pointed. "That's my fianc, I need to be with him."
"He is going into surgery right now. You can fill out his paperwork." She started pulling papers and Blaine groaned.
"Excuse me, did you say you knew the young man." Blaine turned around at the familiar voice.
"Yes," Blaine said staring at the returning soldier assuming it was Shawn.
"I promised him I would get Blaine for him but after that he passed out." Shawn explained.
"I am Blaine. I heard, he never hung up the phone." Blaine said. "Thank you so much for saving him." Blaine barely got out before crying.
"Do you have someone here with you?" Shawn asked placing a hand on Blaine's shoulder.
"Yeah," Blaine stuttered. "my friend drove me here."
"Sir," the nurse handed Blaine a packet of documents. Blaine took them still shaking. Blaine sat in the waiting room and stared at the words dancing around the documents. He never thought he'd have to feel this stuff out. He didn't remember most of it. It was always Kurt who had the information memorized. He had no idea what kind of insurance they had or what Kurt was allergic to. He put the papers aside and ran his hands through his hair.
Jim found Blaine taking a seat beside him smelling like cigarettes. He gave Blaine a side eye glance Blaine's leg bouncing like Thumper. Quinn and Rachel came in as a nurse pointed to Blaine and Jim. Quinn ran to Blaine and engulfed him in a tight hug. Upon their arrival Blaine started to cry only now he was comforted. Jim told Rachel he was going back to the studio. She gave him a hug and thanked him. Quinn pulled Blaine to the couch as he cried in her arms.
"I'm just so scared," Blaine sobbed, she cooed him as Rachel sat on his other side she rubbed his back.
"What happened," Rachel asked.
"Kurt was on his way home and he hit something. The car was rolling then it was just silent." Blaine said taking deep breaths. His mind was foggy like he was on drugs only he wasn't, but he wanted to be. He didn't want to feel the pain and anxiety. He want to flush his fears away. He needed something to drink, something to get the edge off.
"What did you say Blaine?" Quinn asked.
Blaine stared at the reflection on the corner of the table as nurses walked back and forth, "I need a drink," he said again just as soft as the first time.
Rachel shot a look at Quinn knowing that water was not the type of drink Blaine wanted. "No, Blaine you can't," Rachel stuttered.
"Yes I can, I can do what ever I want. I don't have to listen to you Rachel." He said hotly.
"Blaine listen to yourself. Kurt needs you here right now." Rachel said now openly crying.
"I can't deal with this. I'm not strong enough, just one drink will help me. I can't focus." Blaine said pulling away from Quinn.
"That won't help you Blaine," Quinn said taking Blaine's hand, "we will help you, okay?" Blaine shook his head no but didn't do or say anything else.
Rachel took his other hand, "we are right here," she murmured leaning into his shoulder. The three sat cuddled together for what felt like the longest hour of their life.
A doctor came out the operating room, "Kurt Hummel?" He asked approaching the three.
"Yes, doctor?" Rachel spoke up.
"Mr. Hummel has a broken leg, broken collar bone, concussion and brain hemorrhaging, we have put him in a medical induced coma to stop his brain from swelling."
"Can we see him," Quinn asked.
"I'll have a nurse come get you after he leaves the OR." The doctor said before walking away. The three of them sat silent for a moment.
"Where are Burt and Carol?" Rachel asked glancing at her watch. Blaine shrugged, his mind longing for substance. Rachel shook her head and called carol, "hey Rachel, we're outside the hospital now."
"Oh thank god," Rachel said, "he is getting out of surgery now."
Carol passed along the message to Burt, "okay, we'll be up in a minute." Carol said hanging up the phone.
"I don't want to be here anymore." Blaine said standing and walking away.
"Blaine!" Rachel raced after him, "where are you going to go." She reached for his hand to stop him. "Blaine stop." At her touch Blaine turned and stared hard at her.
"Let me go." He growled pushing her away. She stumbled back as Blaine turned walking to the elevators. Rachel was not going to let him go, she refused to let him do anything he would regret.
She ran in front of him and stopped him pressing her hands to his chest. "Blaine, Carol and Burt are here you can't--" she was cut of by the Blaine's hand as he slapped her.
"Shut up." He said threw clenched teeth. Her hand held her face as her eyes welted in tears. "Just shut up." He hissed not even seeing what he did.
Rachel looked at him in fear. She had seen him get violent before, she even took care of Kurt after he hit him but she never expected it to be her. Her skin tingled as she realized she had never really been slapped before.
"Don't go," she murmured. But Blaine was already in the elevator. Rachel slowly walked back to the waiting room. Quinn saw the distress in her wife's face.
"Where is Blaine?" She asked staring Rachel moved her hand from her face and Quinn gasped.
"Did he hit you?" Rachel nodded her head and was immersed in Quinn's gardenia perfume as she sunk into the comfort of the one she loved most. She now wished Blaine could have the same sense of relief she felt.
Carol and Burt came down the hall panicked when the saw Rachel and Quinn holding each other. "What's going on, is Kurt okay?" Burt asked in a rush.
Carol noticed Blaine was gone, "where is Blaine?"
"Kurt is getting out of surgery now, he broke some bones and has a concussion, they put him in a coma till the welling goes down." Quinn explained to Burt, "but Blaine isn't okay at all, he hit Rachel and ran off."
Carol gasped, "Rachel," she pulled Rachel from Quinn's hold looking at her bruising cheek.
"I'm fine just a little shaken up." She murmured, "don't worry about me."
"I'm going to go find Blaine before he does stupid.
