Kurt was in a full panic mode as the sun began to rise and Blaine still hadn’t returned home. He called Jim but that went straight to voicemail and Blaine still wouldn't answer his phone. Kurt had thousands of scenarios running through his head all of which ended with Blaine being dead. He paced in front of the phone waiting anxiously for the police department to call and tell him his fianc is dead. Finally it rung, Kurt didn't hesitate to answer. "Hello," He said breathless.
To his surprise it was his father Burt on the phone, "hey, kiddo."
"Is Blaine with you?" Kurt asked not really up for their morning Chats.
"Yeah, he got here about an hour ago a cry mess. Did you two fight?" Burt asked.
Kurt took a breath and fluttered his eyes shut he was glad Blaine was safe. That's all that really mattered to him. "Is he ok?" Kurt asked avoiding his father’s question.
"He is sleep now; Carol talked to him when he got here. Are you going to tell me what happened?" Burt added with a parental tone.
Kurt couldn't find the words to explain to his father, "Blaine relapsed a few weeks ago." Kurt stuttered sucking in a breath letting out a sob.
"It's going to be ok Kurt," Burt assured. "Stay in Westerville, Carol and I will take care of Blaine." Burt ordered.
"Will you have him call me when he wakes," Kurt sniffled.
"Of course." Kurt hung up the phone and just cried.
Unsure if it was out of relief or sadness, he just let it all out. He stayed up all night scared as fatigue took over him he stared at his wedding band and wondered if he was making the right choice.
Kurt stuttered awake as his phone vibrated, he slept for two hours before Rachel called him back. "I just head your voicemail. Did you find him?" Her voice was panicked.
"Yeah he got to Lima somehow and is with my parents," Kurt mumbled half asleep.
"Thank goodness, were you sleeping, I'm sorry to wake you." She said.
"I'll call you later Glinda," Kurt mumbled before hanging up.
Late afternoon Kurt got out of bed and took a quick shower. He was very surprised Blaine hadn't called him so he called the house and carol answered. "Hello,"
"Hey Carol, is Blaine around?" Kurt tapped his foot against the foot of the bed.
"He is, but he doesn't want to talk to anyone. He is in Burt office listening to old records and cassettes." Carol said.
"I'm heading over there now." Kurt decided.
"See you in an hour," Carol said hanging up.
Kurt dressed swiftly and threw a bag together in case he and Blaine decided to stay. On his way over, Kurt heard Blaine's name on the radio so he turned it up. "That's right, rumors are true mega star Blaine Anderson is in the recording studio, no info on the single or if he is working on an album but let’s play the song that got him on the map. Here is Where Does It Hurt." Kurt pulled over and just listened and reminisces on that day when Blaine preformed it for Kurt.
"Where does it hurt? Tell me so I understand. The words of a heart beating like wings in my hand. We can't hide; we'll never lie, I'll always see in to you."
After Kurt came back from New York he lost himself on the actor life style and while Blaine was just starting his senior year at OSU they moved into a small apartment together. Kurt was very rigid, and closed off. OSU had a talent show that Blaine took Kurt to and to Kurt's surprise Blaine sang to him.
“There’s nothing wrong With coming up empty and cold. Staying too long, and trying to change rocks in to gold. I’ve been there too; I've wasted myself and you were there for me. So whenever you crash, where ever you land. That's where I'll be and for every endless midnight there’s a sky full of broken stars. And there'll always be a place for you inside my arms where does it hurt?"
Kurt told Blaine all the pain he was feeling and how he never had a competitive soul so when audition time came around he just lost himself. Kurt decided that he would much rather enjoy theater from the crowd not the stage. Then he explain the loneliness, how Quinn came to Rachel and they fell in love and even though Kurt and Blaine talked every day twice a day he still felt so alone. By the time he returned he still felt alone happier but like he was missing something.
" When you open your heart, There's always so much to lose, So far to fall And nowhere to go when it's through But if you let me in, I won't let you down Put your faith in me ;'Cause whenever you crash, where ever you land That's where I'll be. And for every endless midnight, there’s a sky full of broken stars. And there'll always be a place for you inside my arms, And there's a million streets to walk down In this city of broken hearts But there'll always be a place for you inside my arms. Where does it hurt? Where does it hurt?"
With the truth out Kurt warmed back up, even more when Quinn and Rachel came for a week. Blaine never thought about the talent show he just wanted to sing to Kurt, but Jim Gnecco called everyone looking for Blaine. Blaine was ecstatic about the chance of a lifetime to have his own CD. But he went to Kurt first, and Kurt became his manager because that was the one thing New York taught him was to get his point across. Blaine tweaked the lyrics a bit to be less personal and within a week he was I tunes #1 Indies single and #23 in the top one hundred. For the next two months he poured his heart into his debut, All for You. A love CD that only his close friends knew lyrically was about Kurt.
"And for every endless midnight There's a sky full of broken stars And there'll always be a place for you inside my arms And there's a million streets to walk down In this city of broken hearts, But there'll always be a place for you inside my arms. Where does it hurt? Where does it hurt?"
My have the tables turned. Now Kurt just needed to know where Blaine hurts. Kurt wiped his silently weeping eyes. He never heard the song Blaine wrote him nearly 2 months ago. He also knew less than the radio which upset him a great deal. Kurt always thought Blaine was the reason the relationship was constantly flailing but honestly, it was always Kurt who had his doubts. Kurt hesitated every move Blaine ever made but Blaine never did. He was always the boy who loved without a second thought. With that in mind Kurt began his journey back to the one man who never stopped loving him...
