"Which on is yours?" A woman with blonde hair asked standing beside Blaine. Blaine shook his head no, not trusting his voice.
"My niece is third back; I can't wait to have one of my own. I haven't seemed to find the right father yet." She commented crossing her arms over her chest.
"You're not afraid," Blaine sniffled.
"Why, it’s a beautiful thing, and the feeling of being someones whole world. The way their face lights up when they hear mommy talking. I don't think I'll be scared. Are you alright?"
Blaine shook his head no again, "I should be down stairs," Blaine wiped his face, "making sure my fianc isn't dead, but I can't stand the thought of death right now..."
"So you came to the floor of life. Smart move," she looked at Blaine. "I'm sorry about your fianc, what happened?"
"He hit a deer driving home, his car rolled into a ditch." Blaine said in a monotone voice.
"He?" She commented Blaine nodded his head; he was shock as she wrapped her arms around him in a friendly hug. This defiantly wasn't what he expected, she let him go. "I'm so sorry."
"Blaine!?!" Carol said her voice straining in relief yet her face screamed anger.
Blaine let his eyes fall shut, but only to see lines of cocaine, then they slowly turned into a red flat line on a heart monitor. He forced his eyes open and frowned at his quickly approaching mother in law.
"How did you find me?" Blaine asked noticing his hand began to shake.
"Lucky guess," Carol said looking at thin blonde to Blaine’s left. "Carol Hummel," Carol held a hand to help the girl.
"Holly Brooke. I was just leaving. I hope everything is okay Blaine." She comments leaving the window of babies.
Blaine turned his attention back to them instead of Carol. "What's going on with you, son?" She asked keeping a distance in remembrance of Rachel’s swelling cheek.
"I can't think right now Carol." Blaine stuttered.
"Of course not, you want drugs Blaine you need to get into a program this cold turkey or only getting high socially is not working. Did you even realize you slapped Rachel?"
Blaine's face scrunched in confusion at Carol's words. He didn't remember hitting Rachel, he felt like shit. "I can't deal with this right now." Blaine said pushing his hair back.
"Blaine, let us help you," Carol held her hand out to him.
Blaine shook his head no, "I'm sorry I just... I have to go." Blaine turned to walk opposite Carol direction. He didn't get very far before his trembles became over bearing. He put his hand on the walking rail and tried to focus. His mind started to scatter, images of his father in the hospital, watching the last breath of the man who made him. The call of Cooper's plane crashing and he being among missing. All he could see were flat lines. He never wanted to see Kurt go. Not now, not ever. He has to go first those are the rules.
Carol stood beside him, interlocking her fingers with his shaking ones. He turned and pulled her in for a shaking hug. "He can't die," Blaine muttered into her shoulder sobbing.
She rubbed his back and said promising things to him, "Kurt is fighter, and he will be okay."
"I don't want to be here anymore, please take me home mom." Blaine whimpered.
Carol was shocked that he called her mom. Blaine’s mother died of breast cancer his senior year of high school it was a huge step for him, for them. Years of just being there for him Carol realized she and Burt were the only adult figures in his life.
"Okay, we'll go home." Carol said. Blaine let her go, and she wiped the tears from his cheeks, "we have to tell the others were leaving." Blaine nodded his head and followed her back to the OR.
Burt was sitting beside Rachel both watching Quinn pace back and forth. Blaine’s face hung low he didn't even look up as Carol told them she was taking Blaine home.
On the ride home Blaine stayed quiet watching the white lines pass. As they turned into the gated community carol broke the silence, "Blaine, I'm not going to leave you alone."
"I don't care." Blaine mumbled as they pulled in front of the condo. He opened the car door before carol even had it in park. He ascended the stairs digging around his pocket for the keys. He heard the car door shut as he got to the landing and retrieved his keys.
Still shaking he tried to put the key in the hole, he turned the knob and walked into his home. He left the door open for Carol as he left to his bedroom. Blaine stared at the messy bed remembering their last night thinking he would do anything to have Kurt wrapped between his legs again. He removes his jeans tossing them aside removing his button up shirt. Then crawling into bed on Kurt’s side.
Blaine inhaled Kurt’s masculine scent and melted away from the sounds of Carol cleaning their home, the construction down stairs, and the smallest hum of music playing in the condo beside his. He wrapped his arms around his middle and pretended they were Kurt’s as he closed his eyes and slept.
