I asked around one of the low key neighborhood about Nora they said there was a female boxer at rays training gym that fit her description. I walked into the gym and heard men yelling and cheering over by the boxing ring.
I saw her, it was like I was in the 1980's again. Her anger when I told her I needed to go. She was fighting with a big broad man, and boy, was she kicking his ass. Just as I got to the ring she delivered the knock out punch.
"Who's next!?" She called out laughing taking off a glove to wipe the blood from her mouth. She looked over at me and with a hard face, "Kurtis?" People turned to look at me and I nodded my head towards the door. She climbed out of the ring then followed me outside. Once out of the public eye she wrapped her arms around me. "I thought you were dead." She whispered.
"I've come very close." I said returning the hug with equal passion. She pulled away and kneed me in the groin.
"I'm glad your alive Kurtis because now I can kill you for leaving me here." She said punching me again. "20 fucking years damnit!"
"I'm sorry!" I shouted recovering from her last blow. "It wasn't safe!"
"Bullshit you just didn't want me anymore. I gave you everything! You were mine and I was yours." She went to hit me again but I caught her arm so she kicked me. "You didn't even tell me where you were going. You just left."
"I left you a letter." I said harshly, I had no idea I hurt her this bad.
"Yeah, all it said was 'Nora I love you, I'll never love another the way I do you. But our time has been cut short. I wish I could tell you everything but I can't not now at least. Wait for me here in Detroit, I'll come back for you soon...'" she shook her head. "I waited, I could have been having fun traveling like you did but no. I waited and you never came." Her eyes watered up.
"Nora I'm sorry." I said sincerely. "I wanted to come back for you but I just kept running I never looked back."
"Then you should just go back. To who ever you have now. I can smell them all over you." She looked away from me and wiped a tear.
"Please Nora, I need you, your ability." I started but she let out a hot laugh.
"Figured you'd only come back for that. Guess what, its gone. I can't control it. I only could after you helped me developed it. And when you left I didn't push myself the way you did. I'm back to the old me, only instead of whore houses I'm boxing or fighting." She looked so broken.
"Nora, I wish I could do something to help you, I didn't mean to be gone that long. Sebastian is dead now." I said.
"You're not staying with me though. Just leave, you were better off dead." She turned and ran away too fast to chase her down. I was screwed. I'm never going to save Blaine.
I ran back to Ohio wondering what next.
