I was surprise to see Lydia awake when I got to the hospital; she was glaring at the window. She had a bandage on her cheek and stitches at her eyebrow. I knocked on the door to get her attention before walking in.
"Who are you?" She asked in a weak tired voice.
"My name is Kurt, I'm Blaine's boyfriend." I introduced myself, "he wanted me to give this to you." I held out the flowers and set them on counter.
"Why didn't he come?" She asked tears welting in her eyes.
"He didn't want to see you." I said quietly. "But he made you this to explain everything." I set the jewel case beside her flowers.
"He's never liked hospitals, or doctors it was hell to get him to have a check up." She commented. "Are you the one he is living with?"
"Yes he lives with me and my sister. But we are moving and he is coming with us." I said breaking the news to her and taking a seat.
"Where are you moving?" She asked quietly.
"Out of the country. Blaine explained everything," I said.
Lydia pointed to her bag, "pass me my laptop please, I need to watch this." She said moving her bed more upright. I did what she asked and noticed she had cranberry juice in her bag. I took the juice stashing it in my pocket with Blaine's vial of blood and brought her the computer handing her the CD as well.
I returned to my seat and watched her set up the CD pressing play.
"Hi mom. I'm sorry; I'm not there to tell you this in person. I'm even more sorry that I'm not there to protect you. He paused for a moment taking a breath to stop him from crying. Lydia started crying silently as Blaine pulled his guitar into the picture.
"I don't know how to say what I want to so I'm just going to sing you our song. I think it’s more relevant now than ever before."He started to stump and Lydia smiled softly and sung as he did.
Took this love and I took it down. Climbed a mountain and I turned around and I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills, till the landslide brought me down. Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? And can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? Oh oh I don't know, oh I don't know. Well, I've been afraid of changing 'Cause I've built my life around you. But time makes you bolder children get older I'm getting older too. Yes I'm getting older too. So, take this love, take it down. Oh if you climb a mountain and you turn around if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills well the landslide will bring you down. And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills well maybe the landslide will bring you down. Well, the landslide will bring you down.
I handed her the box of tissues to wipe away her tears. And Blaine continued. "I'm 18 now mom and I have the best boyfriend in the world." I smiled softly as she looked at me. "He and I are moving to Manchester in the UK. That is very very far from home but it was my choice not his. It was also my choice to drop of Dalton but my other roommate helped me."
"Just because I'm gone doesn't mean I don't care about you. I miss you every day, but I can't worry about you anymore. I've been afraid of changing because I built my life around you. Being kicked out was the best thing for me, I'm living now, because I got away from him. You know you do too. I'm sure cooper is perfect without him too. I'm sure he misses you, your family misses you. I know what you mean when you say that you love him, but I don't think he loves you back. Love doesn't hurt someone the way he hurts you. I've told you a million times to go, please listen this last time. I love mom, I'll send you a card when I get to the UK." He shut the recording off and Lydia sat there crying.
I took the moment to pour Blaine's blood into her drink rejoicing how lucky I was that she was drinking red liquids. "Do you have any questions?" I asked.
"No." She uttered.
"I'm going to leave now, I'm so sorry." I said.
"Wait in my bag, will you bring me the juice and my phone." She croaked.
"Certainty," I pulled the juice from my pocket and pulled her sleek black phone out. I handed her both item and got to the door.
"Kurt, protect him, please." She pleated, she may have blue eyes but the expression she gave me I've seen on Blaine's face plenty of times. She loved him and more she needed him safe.
"Of course Lydia, he's the love of my life. I promise he is in good hands."
