Sorry for the wait - hope people are still reading and enjoying. I'd love to hear what you think.
Blaine couldn't tell him.
Too worried about the consequences, and the thought that it might be over, it was so much easier to pretend and carry on as if nothing was wrong. He could leave his job though and he walked into his father's office one Monday morning to start the process.
"Yes?" Charles said, clearly annoyed to be disturbed even if it was his son. This was his free hour and everyone knew not to bother him. He eventually looked up and noticed Blaine.
"What is it Blaine?" he said, his voice full of exasperation. "Can't you ask Brian your questions?"
"This isn't a question," Blaine said, taking a deep breath and finding a confidence inside that he often kept buried. "I've come to explain why I'm handing in my notice."
Charles looked up sharply at the statement, incredulity on his face.
"What are you talking about Blaine?" he asked, discarding his papers and looking properly at his son. "How will you support yourself and Quinn? You need this place." He didn't say the firm needed Blaine, that would be untrue.
"I don't need this place," he said simply, "And I've spoken to Quinn about this, in fact she suggested it. I want to pursue something else."
"Like what?" Charles said as if any other career was ridiculous. The pursuit of money was everything.
At the thought of sharing his dreams with his father, Blaine could feel the bile rise but he swallowed deeply and dived in.
"Playing the piano," he said, breathing deeply again. "It's something I do in the evening and people seem to like it."
"Blaine, that's a hobby," Charles said as if he was explaining something to a five year old. "You can do all that in your own time."
"It's more than that to me," Blaine said, "I've never been very good with money, you make that very obvious as I work alongside you."
"You don't work alongside me," he said, "You work behind me."
Blaine let the hurtful comment slide, it was after all included in his argument and proved that he was right.
"So you'll be supported by your wife?" Charles said, looking Blaine up and down as if he was merely a false man.
"Quinn is very successful and it would only be temporary."
Charles thought it over. He wouldn't miss Blaine's lacklustre work or his presence in the office but he considered what it might look like to others in the office.
"You can leave, only if you say that you are going back to college to re-train. They don't need to know what for, just don't say you're going to another firm."
Blaine nodded once in acceptance. He could give him that at least.
"Ok, now get out," Charles spat out, "Some of us have work to do."
Blaine left quickly but he couldn't stop the smile that cracked his face wide. He was free.
"Well that is cause for celebration," Kurt said excitedly over the phone soon after. "Dinner tonight?"
"Even better," Blaine said eagerly, "Quinn is out tonight with Rupert, if you come round I can cook us dinner."
"Mmm that sounds amazing," Kurt said, rubbing the crick in his neck. He had hardly seen Blaine this week; the final preparations for his creations that he would display in his new boutique were taking all his time. The work on the front of the boutique had been finished last week and he was eager to show it all off as soon as Blaine was free.
"Would you mind meeting me first?" Kurt asked, "I have something to show you."
"Ooh that sounds intriguing," Blaine said and then his voice became softer. "I've missed you."
Kurt smiled. He'd missed Blaine too.
"I could stay?" he suggested, putting his heart a little on the line, the first time he had ever suggested such a thing. Blaine's heart skipped a beat.
"Yes," he whispered eagerly, "That would be perfect."
"Great," Kurt said grinning, "See you in an hour at my office?"
"Looking forward to it," Blaine said and he hung up, his smile wide and there was an added bounce to his step as he left his father's oppressive building, gilded and full of money.
"Kurt," Blaine breathed, as he looked around the new space in front of him. Kurt wasn't entirely happy and the boutique wasn't quite ready as it was completely devoid of furniture but the walls and floor were immaculate. The floor was shiny but not marble, giving it a pristine feel without being too showy. The white walls and gleaming silver detail to the windows and skirting boards made the boutique shine, looking brand spanking new. The windows seemed huge, letting the light pour in and giving ample room for Kurt to display his designs. Kurt soon started spinning around the space, showing Blaine exactly where everything would go. He planned to invite people in to view designs and fashion creations after they had been offered sparkling apple and baby cupcakes, though Kurt already knew he would need to ensure no food or liquid went near his clothes. He showed Blaine the clothes he had already prepared and his designs.
"Kurt," Blaine finally said again, clutching at Kurt's wrists to force him to stop. "It's perfect," he said, "Just perfect."
Kurt stopped and the way his grin widened so slowly caused Blaine to match it.
"You really like it?" Kurt said, his hands resting in Blaine's so comfortably.
"I love it," Blaine breathed. "Your place is finally coming alive. You're soon going to have a boutique to open and people will come flocking here to buy your creations and ask you to design for them."
"I hope so," Kurt said, starting to let the image of the future worry him, causing his hope to dwindle.
"I know so," Blaine said confidently bouncing Kurt's hands in his to buoy his confidence. "Let's celebrate this, let's go home and have dinner."
"But we're celebrating you leaving your job," Kurt said, being tugged behind as Blaine led the way. Blaine turned to face him and gave him a fleeting peck on his nose.
"No we're celebrating us and everything we've achieved in the last few weeks," he said beaming that he finally had a person to share this with, if it was only in private.
Dinner was perfect. Blaine had practiced the only meal he knew how to cook a few nights ago so he could wow Kurt with his culinary skills. He had a sneaking suspicion that Kurt was excellent in the kitchen and he didn't want to disappoint. Candlelight caused an ambient glow around the immaculate dining table, the cutlery sparkling, the smell delicious but Blaine worried that it was merely a cover. The place was really devoid of any cosy feeling, merely a place for Quinn and Blaine to live, for occasional family visits and to dine in style. There was no real laughter or love in that place and looking around Blaine suddenly felt ashamed that everything was in its place and perfectly suited to the chosen colour scheme.
"What's wrong?" Kurt asked as he was about to taste his first bite of Blaine's lasagne.
"I wish it felt more like a home here," he said a slight blush on his cheeks, "I think it's just a place for Quinn and I to sleep."
Kurt took another glance around. "Don't worry, it just needs someone to rough it up a little. It looks perfect to me and was obviously designed with care and a good eye. It just needs a touch of family."
Blaine said nothing. He had no tangible image of family as it wasn't in his experience but he so wished for that in the future.
"This smells too delicious for me to hover near my mouth any longer without me taking a bite," Kurt said smiling widely and slowly taking his first bite. Blaine waited with bated breath until Kurt swallowed and grinned even wider.
"It's delicious Blaine," he said, "Amazing!"
"I'm sure you can cook better," Blaine said as he took in Kurt's praise and he felt happy despite his worry.
"No Blaine," Kurt said earnestly, taking Blaine's hand as it rested on the table. "I mean it, it is perfect."
Blaine smiled. He would take the praise and accept it. It was after all not something he heard everyday and just one glance at Kurt's sincere blue eyes, he couldn't doubt a single word he said.
After dinner they went to the couch, Kurt suggesting they watch a movie to unwind. Blaine looked beyond nervous, his muscles tense and his jaw set and it was the only thing Kurt could think to ease the tension.
"Are you ok?" Kurt asked after a while. The movie was playing, some rom-com that Kurt could tell Blaine wasn't really watching. Blaine looked at Kurt at the sound of the question and he looked a little startled.
"Yeah, I'm fine," he said gulping almost audibly.
"Blaine?"
"Sorry I'm just a little nervous."
"Nervous?"
"I've not done this before, you know, this, us and I don't want to spoil it."
Kurt's eyes softened, his gaze so sad that Blaine felt bad for making him feel that. "Blaine, you won't spoil this. I've not really done this before either. I can count on one hand how many dates I've been on in the past year. We're in this together and we can take this as slowly as you want to."
Blaine visibly relaxed. "You don't mind us going slow? I mean who is a 23 year old virgin?" He lowered his head in shame.
"Me," Kurt said quietly and Blaine rose his head in surprise. "I've done stuff," Kurt said, being deliberately vague, "But I'm technically a virgin Blaine, there's no shame in that and don't forget you're married."
"Does that bother you?" Blaine asked.
"I thought it might at first but when I think of it as a fake marriage, one based on friendship, I understand a little more. I still don't know why you don't get out."
That was Blaine's opportunity. He had put off the inevitable for two weeks now, after the conversation with Quinn, and this was his chance. But he said nothing and after a while Kurt nuzzled into his side and watched the movie.
A little over an hour later, Blaine was nervously holding a sleeping Kurt as the movie carried on. He was tense until Kurt seemed to murmur Blaine's name in his sleep and rub himself closer, his hand trailing along the inside of Blaine's thigh. Kurt seemed so peaceful lying there, not at all worried that he was snuggled next to a man when Blaine wasn't used to this alien feeling at all. It had been so long since he had even allowed himself to look at another man that he stopped now to think about how nice it felt. Kurt was all strong lines and firm muscles beneath his fingers as they traced along Kurt's side. Blaine breathed him in, his hair smelling of coconut milk and he kissed his forehead, closing his eyes against the pleasure he felt swell inside at the warmth of the gesture. He couldn't remember a time when he had hugged someone for any length of time, even Quinn only hugged briefly and he let himself pull Kurt closer, so that together their legs entwined slightly. Kurt murmured again, this time his pleasure evident in his sigh.
Blaine allowed his fingers to trail patterns along Kurt's clothed side and he placed kisses on his jaw. It was so smooth, the skin so soft, that he felt his confidence rise as Kurt murmured in pleasure. Blaine wasn't sure if he was awake but he kept going while he had the courage and eventually Kurt's fingers pressed more insistently on Blaine's thigh and his lips met Blaine's. It was sweet and soft, just like his skin and Blaine felt his own skin tingle in pleasure he hadn't allowed himself to even dream of in so long. Kurt seemed to waken and his lips pressed more insistently, his eyes still closed and Blaine let out a sigh as their lips parted for just the briefest of moments until their lips met again.
"Is this ok?" Kurt whispered against his lips a little while later, his lips already cherry red. Blaine nodded slightly, his eyes foggy with pleasure, a slight blush on his cheeks. "We don't have to do anything else," Kurt said quietly, already preparing to stay back until Blaine whined in protest and took his lips again, the time spent apart already too much. Blaine could feel the smile on Kurt's lips as they kissed. It all felt so natural like they should have been doing this all evening that Blaine felt himself relax and almost laugh to himself that he had been worried earlier.
Kurt breathed deeply as they parted. He got up and Blaine's mouth opened, about to ask what was happening, his mind finally focusing on Kurt rather than his soft lips, when Kurt took his hand and smiled, lifting him up and leading him to his bedroom.
Kurt took the time to lie back on the bed as Blaine entered at a slower pace and he smiled nervously. Blaine gulped.
"Is this still ok?" Kurt asked quietly and Blaine could only nod. The sight of Kurt on his bed, slowly undressing and removing his shirt, stopped his heart for a beat and he felt like a teenager, desperate for more, feeling his throat go dry. When Kurt was undressed, his pants removed, he lay on the bed in just his underwear and as Blaine continued to stare he blushed slightly.
"Care to join me?" Kurt asked, "I feel kind of lonely here." He chuckled nervously.
"You're just so beautiful," Blaine breathed, "So beautiful."
He started to undress as Kurt watched and although he was nervous too, Blaine suddenly felt like this was how it should be. Kurt knew all of him, the most important parts, it was only right that he see him now, just as he was, just like the mirror. As he stood completely naked in front of Kurt, he could feel the blush rise up around his neck but Kurt smiled and beckoned him closer. Kurt's cock twitched at the sight and he couldn't quite hold back the moan in his throat at Blaine so completely bare in front of him.
"You are so gorgeous," Kurt said, clearly in awe of the olive skin in front of him, the firm muscles that he so desperately wanted under his fingers. Blaine walked quickly almost hiding but as he went under the covers to meet Kurt's creamy skin with his own, he melted and relaxed. This was how it was supposed to be: no hiding, no worries and their lips met like they wondered why they had been apart.
Blaine let his fingers feel and wander just as Kurt did the same and sighs escaped amidst kisses, their bodies moving closer. It kept building and building until Blaine gasped and moaned loudly, finally free, not caring who could hear and wanting to spend all his time like this.
"Tell me what you want," Kurt breathed along Blaine's neck and Blaine groaned at the vibration it caused on the sensitive skin. "Tell me what you need."
"I, I don't know," Blaine said, stuttering on his words, closing his eyes against the intense pleasure now coursing through his body. He'd never let his mind go to this place, never allowed his thoughts to wander or his body to feel like this before. "Anything."
"Okay," Kurt said simply, not wanting to ruin Blaine's first time. He stroked along Blaine's chest as he let his lips lick and kiss along his neck. "You really are so beautiful like this, all spread out for me. So beautiful."
Blaine could only moan in response as Kurt's mouth went lower to circle gently around a sensitive nipple and Blaine's hips bucked in response, so desperate for the friction that was denied him. Kurt blew gently on the now slick wet nipples before him and Blaine shivered, his hands weaving behind Kurt's waist to grab and bring him closer, skin on skin. He let himself feel and want, his senses now overloaded with skin tingling, fingers twitching, lips feeling what skin they could find. The quiet murmurs of pleasure escaping Kurt's mouth made him feel on fire, his skin so sensitive to any touch that he could already feel himself getting too hot, too close. Kurt's fingers trailed patterns along Blaine's olive skin and searched lower and lower. Blaine, now feeling more confident, let his fingers wander to the top of Kurt's ass, where the dimples felt especially soft, like it was precious skin Blaine knew he was the only one to touch. Kurt's fingers finally found the desired spot, slowly, teasingly trailing along the soft smooth skin of Blaine's cock and causing a sharp gasp to escape Blaine's mouth.
"Fuck, Kurt," he said, his eyes suddenly scrunched shut against the intense pleasure tingling along his spine. Kurt touched so gently, his fingertips barely grazing the skin, but his lips kissed along the sensitive skin just under his ear and Blaine bucked and shivered as he came hard all over Kurt's hand and on his stomach.
"Oh god," Blaine practically screamed as Kurt stroked him through it until Blaine opened his eyes and continued to breath deeply, still recovering.
"Shit, that was…"
"Good?" Kurt asked, his eyes twinkling.
"Fuck Kurt," Blaine said smiling but embarrassed he had come so quickly, "That was so amazing, I came embarrassingly quickly."
"I'll take it as a compliment," Kurt said nuzzling along Blaine's neck with mouth and nose, "But I hope you don't think I'm finished with you yet."
Blaine laughed as he let his fingers roam free, feeling along Kurt's back, taking in all the perfect skin that he could.
"I think it might be your turn next," Blaine said kissing Kurt's cheek repeatedly. "I want to touch you so much." He let out a moan as his fingers dipped lower beneath the waistband of Kurt's boxers and he removed them as quickly as he could with Kurt's help. Blaine turned louder as he felt just how hard Kurt was, how a little pre-come had escaped and he took him in hand and gripped gently like he had only done to himself the few times he had let himself be free. Kurt gasped.
"Please, Blaine," Kurt groaned, his voice breathless, his pants becoming more desperate.
"So beautiful, I just want to see you fall apart," Blaine murmured as he kissed along Kurt's jaw. Kurt moaned loudly and closed his eyes, letting himself feel.
"I can't believe you're mine," Blaine breathed, now along his neck, still keeping his grip firm but now speeding up.
"All yours," Kurt gasped loudly as the pleasure increased as he felt himself getting close. "Oh god, Blaine, I'm so yours."
"Kiss me when you come," Blaine suddenly said and Kurt's lips desperately tried to reach closer to where Blaine's lips were, searching, knowing the end was close. They kissed hard, almost bruising and Kurt's chest hitched as his pleasure peaked and he came even harder all over Blaine's hand, his lips never leaving Blaine. They finally parted, breathing now laboured and hands and chests messy.
"Fuck that was fantastic," Kurt said, breathing hard. There was a high blush on his cheeks, his eyes shone and Blaine smiled.
"You look so beautiful," Blaine said, the tenderness in his eyes so obvious and despite the mess, Kurt took him in his arms, so much closer than before.
"Can we stay like this all day tomorrow?" Blaine asked sheepishly, "I can call in sick."
Kurt smiled like he was about to indulge a child and then giggled, thinking what the hell?
"I really am all yours," Kurt whispered as an answer and Blaine felt his heart swoop and he took it as a yes, kissing him sweetly, ignoring the worry and the world outside. This was their world and Blaine would much rather stay just with Kurt, forsaking all others.
