Blaines private reply to Kurts tweet made Kurt hope he would come across Blaine the following day
Look, youre not Berrys own personal bodyguard, so just stay out of it, okay?Leave me alone.
Rachel told Kurt not to bother replying. Blaine wasnt worth the drama. "Hes probably just looking for a reason to tear you down, especially after what happened today. Dont give into him."
"Rachel, the guy is bullying you, and no one cares, because its just a bad case of Hollywood fever," Kurt set his phone down. "As someone who was bullied all through high school, I am not going to sit around and watch some crazy person bully you in front of everyone."
Placing a hand on his shoulder, Rachel looked into his eyes and sternly said, "Kurt, honey, Im going to be fine. You dont have to worry about me."
"Im always worried about you," Kurt said quietly. It was only in his nature to protect her. Why couldnt she see that?
She gave him a small smile, "I know. Please let it go."
Kurt couldnt let it go.
He didnt reply to Blaines message, because he knew how much it would have bothered Rachel. So when he saw Blaine the next day. and Rachel had been taken back to get makeup done again, Kurt took it as an opportunity to attempt a civilized conversation.
Blaine was in the school hallway getting instructions from the director. Kurt stood off to the side, waiting until they were finished.
"Easy enough, right?" the dirctor told him.
"Yeah, whatever," Blaine slumped away from him. He made his way over to his chair and sat down. He pulled out his cell phone and started ignoring the bustle around him.
Kurt took a deep breath and marched over to him. "What the hell is your problem?" he barked. So much for civilized.
Without looking up from his phone, Blaine mumbled, "you dont understand what ‘leave me alone means, do you?"
"Youre not better than me. I dont have to listen to you," Kurt stepped closer, eyeing Blaine suspiciously.
"I still have more authority here than you, and I will call security. Thatll make sure you leave me alone," Blaine continued to read his phone screen.
He didnt even have the decency to look at Kurt. He was so frustrated, that he reached over and snatched Blaines phone from his hand. He stepped back, unsure how Blaine would react.
Blaine didnt move. His thick eyebrows raised, he simply watched Kurt stand there with fear in his eyes. "What is taking my cell phone going to accomplish?" he finally asked.
"Youre going to give me the attention I deserve," Kurt said, placing his hands on his hips..
Remaining in his seat, Blaine sighed, "fine. What do you want?"
Taking a deep breath, Kurt began to ramble, "I want you to stop acting like youre better than everyone else. You made me sick yesterday, watching you tear Rachel apart like shes your own piece of work. Youre nothing but an ass, who got caught up in the pressures of Hollywood at a young age, and youre taking your better-than-you attitude to a high level. It doesnt make you better than anyone, Blaine Anderson. It just makes you look like an idiot."
Blaine sat in silence for a moment. It was impossible to read his cold expression. Something flickered in his eyes, and he shook his head. "Are you done?" he said gruffly.
"Yes," Kurt breathed.
Rising from his chair, a fiery glow in Blaines eyes made Kurt take a step back. Blaine forcefully took his phone from Kurts hand and growled, "You dont know a fucking thing about me. I suggest you get the hell away from me, or I will have you removed from the premises."
Kurt took several steps back, and said, "you wouldnt dare."
Blaine smiled, "Oh, I would. This is your final warning."
Turning on the spot, Kurt stormed away from him. He took a seat and waited for the filming to begin. He kept a close eye on Blaine, who remained by himself until the director called for everyone to get into place.
Rachel rushed over to a locker in the middle of the hall and began fumbling with the books inside.
"Hey," Blaine walked over and stood next to her, a smile dancing on his lips. "So I was thinking about what happened in the auditorium the other day..."
Turning to face him, Rachel said, "Me too. Although I dont appreciate that youve been avoiding me since."
Blaine shrugged, "Ive had a lot going on with football and glee club."
Clutching a binder to her chest, Rachels eyes lit up and she quickly replied, "Admit it, Flynn, there was chemistry between us. You feel something for me, just like I feel something for you."
"Its not that simple," he shook his head. "I... sort of have a girlfriend."
"A... w-what?" Rachel stuttered.
"Head cheerleader, Lucy Michaels," Blaine confirmed.
Turning back to her locker, Rachel tried to pull a book out of it and more than one book toppled out of the locker. "Oops," Rachel blushed. "Im sorry," she said, turning to the director.
Blaine threw his hands in the air in exasperation, "why couldnt you have just played off of that?"
"Excuse me?" Rachel set the binder in her hand back on the locker shelf..
"You dont have to apologize for every mistake," Blaine explained in an annoyed tone. "I could have been the gentleman that picked up your books for you, because i do sort of like you."
"But it wasnt in the script," Rachel bent down and picked her own books up, while Blaine watched irritably.
Standing up, Kurt marched over to the director and said, "why are you letting him do this? Isnt it your job to tell Rachel what she should and should not do?"
"He might be on to something," the director didnt budge. "it would be a nice gesture on Flynns part."
"He was so furious for every mistake she made yesterday!" Kurt snapped. "Now its okay? Does Blaine do anything wrong to you?"
Blaine whirled around to face Kurt. "What did I tell you before? Were a team. I have to give her some pointers. Its clear I have far more experience in the acting business than she does," he fumed.
"Rachels had experience. She was on Broadway!" Kurt snarled, moving closer to Blaine. He hardly noticed Rachel covering her face with her hands behind Blaine.
"She barely lasted more than six weeks. She must not have been the right material for her director," Blaine shoved his hands in his jacket pockets.
"She left for this show," Kurts voice grew louder and higher with every sentence. He couldnt take this form of bullying anymore.. "A show that was made for her, not you!" He was so close to Blaine, he could smell his over-powering cologne.
A threatening gaze in Blaines perfectly hazel eyes made Kurt shiver. "This show has nothing to do with you. Get out of here!" Blaine gave Kurt a shove and yelled, "Security!"
Caught off guard, Kurt glanced around anxiously, "I... what? No!" He found Rachels gaze, who simply shook her head. The look of disappointment on her face radiated a wave of guilt through Kurts body.
Two pairs of hands firmly grabbed his arms and dragged him off the set. They tossed him on the sidewalk out front and ordered him to stay away.
A light sprinkle sent chills down his spine. He hugged himself tightly and stepped away from the gate.
Kurt took off down the street, not sure where he was going. He walked a few blocks, before he came across a coffee shop. Knowing he couldnt go back to Rachels apartment, because he was so flustered after what had happened at the studio, Kurt slipped inside. He would wait out the rain system.
How could the entire crew let Blaine treat Rachel like that? How does someone get away with being so rude, just because theyre famous? He wasnt anybody special, just because he had been on television the last few years. It didnt give him any right to treat others like shit.
Where are you, Kurt? Im done filming, and Im worried.
He had sat there for what seemed like hours. Placing his phone back on the table, Kurt ignored her message. Rachel hadnt been happy with his choices, it was clear on her face after he stood up to Blaine. He didnt feel like facing her just yet.
Please, Kurt. We need to talk about what happened today.
It wasnt going to happen. She was just going to have to wait.
The bell over the door rang and Blaine walked in.
Kurt froze.
Blaine made his way over to the counter and placed an order.. He stood there for a moment, waiting. Quickly glancing at the door, Kurt debated whether he should leave, before Blaine noticed him. Just as he rose from his chair, Blaine turned around with a drink in his hand to leave.
He stopped in his tracks. Hazel eyes met blue eyes and they hung on for a moment.
The moment Kurt sat back down, Blaine stopped in front of his table and peered down at him. "Well, well, well, Kurt Hummel," he smiled nastily.
"Why are you here?" Kurt spat.
"I always come here. This is my coffee place," Blaine said matter-of-fact, holding up his cup.
"Great," Kurt mumbled.
"Interesting show you put on today," Blaine continued. "In all my years of television, I think thats the first time Ive seen someone escorted off a set."
"Ill bet it was," Kurt rolled his eyes.
"It gave us all quite a laugh. Even your friend, Rachel. She couldnt help herself. You made such a fool of yourself, Kurt," Blaine took a sip from his cup.
"If you hadnt been such a prick," Kurt retorted.
Shaking his head, Blaine chuckled, "Oh please. I gave you a warning. You didnt have to act on that."
"You were looking for a reason to provoke me," Kurt shot back.
"No, I would have corrected her mistake, even if you hadnt been around," Blaine pulled out a chair and sat down.
Taken aback, Kurt had to think of what to say. His heart was beating quickly in his chest. He hadnt expected Blaine to sit down with him. He finally came up with, "Why are you so hard on her?"
"Because I dont like her," Blaine simply said.
"With that attitude, I dont think theres many people that like you," Kurt stood up to leave again. He wasnt going to sit here and listen to this.
"What did I tell you earlier, Kurt?" Blaine said smugly, wiping the lid of his cup with a napkin. "You dont know a thing about me. I dont think you should assume that you do, because youll never know."
"I wouldnt want to know," Kurt gripped his cup tightly in his hands. "Youre nothing but a fraud. Youre a liar. I dont need to know the reasons why, Blaine, because youre not worth the time or the effort to me."
The corner of Blaines mouth twitched and he said, "Theres always haters, Kurt. Its a shame Rachel has one so close in her circle of friends. Youre going to make her time as a star very difficult. Youd probably be better off heading back to Loserville Ohio where you came from."
It brought back too many painful memories. He had been bullied enough. He wasnt going to take it from Blaine too. A hateful passion toward this man made Kurts chest burn with rage. He had to do something.
"You know, Blaine," he said calmly, shifting his cup to his right hand. "Rachels a good friend. She;s a wonderful person, and youre damn lucky to be working with someone like her."
"A Broadway flop from Ohio? I doubt it," Blaine laughed, rolling his eyes. "Shes lucky she gets to work with me. Her show would be nothing without me."
Kurt nodded, "yeah, youre right about that.."
"You agree with me?" Blaine questioned.
"Sure, that was the reason they hired you, but Rachel got hired because of her talent," he smiled.
Blaine didnt respond.
Pulling the lid off his coffee cup, Kurt dumped the remainder of its contents on Blaines curly hair. Blaine let out a yelp, jumping from his seat.
ignoring the curious looks from customers, Kurt tossed the cup on the ground and said„ "face it, Blaine Anderson, you wish you were half the Lima loser she is." He stormed out without a glance back.
"Kurt, you didnt!" Rachels face was disappointing, when he told her later that evening.
"I had to," Kurt defended himself. "The guy was being a complete jackass!"
Running her hands over her face, Rachel sat down on the couch, "this is such a mess."
"What/"
Sighing, she said, "Kurt, youre not allowed back at the studio. After what happened today, My producer told me that I wasnt allowed to bring you back. Ever."
"What?" he shouted. "All I did was defend you!" Why was that so hard for people to understand? Everyone saw Kurt in the wrong, when Blaine was the one doing all the damage. If Kurt thought anyone would understand that, it would have been Rachel.
She patted the couch next to her and he flopped down, letting out a long sigh. Taking his hand, Rachel said, "i know you want to protect me, and you are the sweetest man I know for doing that."
"But..." Kurt knew it was coming.
"But Im a big girl, Kurt, and this is a tough business that neither of us know much about. I think it was a mistake bringing you here," she stared at her feet, unable to look him in the eye.
"You want me to go home?" he asked quietly. He was hurt that his outburst had changed her mind about him.
She shook her head, "you should stay this week. You already have your ticket home next Saturday... We can spend time together while im not working. I just dont want anymore fighting between you and Blaine."
"Whats the problem? Someones got to give him a reality check," Kurt said.
"Its not your job to do that. You cant change his behavior," Rachel stood from the couch and made her way to the kitchen. "Do you want some tea?"
"No," he said, remaining on the couch.. "Maybe Ive made it my mission to change his behavior."
"Kurt."
"Rachel."
She spun around to face him. Her eyes glowed with rage. She sighed, "Kurt, drop it. This isnt funny."
"Fine, you win. I wont help you anymore," he shrugged. It wasnt like he was going to get the chance to see Blaine again anyway, now that he had been banned from the set.
"I didnt say you cant help me. I just dont want you to worry about Blaine," Rachel placed the teapot on the stove and leaned against the counter.
"I just dont think he should hurt anyone he can, every time he wants his way. He always wins," Kurt crossed his arms over his chest.
Swiftly moving across the room, Rachel came up behind the couch and wrapped her arms around him, "I know, honey," she whispered. "Theres nothing you can do to change that."
Kurt shook his head, "Im not convinced. Blaine doesnt act this way for no reason. No one does that. Hes hiding something. Theres got to be something someone can do for him."
