Throughout the entire day, Kurt can feel Sebastian’s gaze burning into the back of his neck. Kurt’s cheeks flush when Sebastian settles himself in the chair next to Kurt’s at lunch. The girls are all starry eyed and hopeful, but when Kurt feels Sebastian’s knee knocking his beneath the table, he knows this guy really is gay and really isn’t fucking with him. Sebastian gets a billion questions within the lunch hour, girls asking where he’s from (Chicago), what grade he’s in (11), why he transferred (parents split up), and maybe possibly if there’s any chance at all he might swing a little bit toward them.
He doesn’t, which makes Kurt smirk triumphantly.
All the while, Sebastian’s scooting his chair closer and closer to Kurt and by the end of the lunch period, he’s got his arm around the back of Kurt’s chair and a satisfied look on his face.
Kurt’s skin tingles where Sebastian’s finger traces slow, lazy circles on his shoulder.
The bell rings, signaling the end of lunch, and just as the girls begin to scatter, Sebastian leans over.
“We should hang out later,” he whispers into Kurt’s ear.
Pulse rising, head spinning with images, Kurt stutters out, “I – I have practice after school.”
“So after practice,” Sebastian says, nuzzling the tip of his nose against the sensitive skin behind Kurt’s ear. “Here’s my number.”
Without so much as a warning or, you know, anything, he slides a piece of paper in between Kurt’s crossed legs and ohmygod, hello, this guy totally just touched his –
Okay. Yeah. So that happened. That’s never happened before.
Sebastian leaves.
Somewhere else in the school, tiny, meek Blaine Anderson exits a bathroom stall, throwing away his half-eaten lunch into the trashcan and shouldering a backpack with too many books and a whole slew of disappointments.
It isn’t until halfway through Cheerios practice that Kurt realizes he only has a week left before his physics test and two more chapters to relearn. Mentally berating himself for his stupidity, he sends Sebastian a text to say that he can’t meet up after school because he has to tutor someone. When practice is over, he texts Blaine, asking if they can study tonight and of course Blaine says yes because why would Blaine say no?
They made a deal.
Except, five minutes away from their usual coffee shop, Kurt remembers exactly what happened the other night and how awkward this is going to be.
“Hey,” Kurt greets as evenly as possible when he sees that Blaine is already at their table with his book open. “Sorry about the short notice.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Blaine replies in this really – well – this really un-Blaine-like way.
Kurt seats himself and…they study. That’s all they do. They just sit there and Blaine teaches him all the things Kurt could never understand before. Of course, all the while Kurt is glancing at Blaine’s lips and the way his eyelashes are actually really pretty behind his glasses.
Shit. No. None of this, Kurt can’t do this anymore. He doesn’t need Blaine.
He doesn’t need him for anything besides tutoring anyway, because he just doesn’t. He doesn’t need a bookish little twerp who tells him everything he hates. Except – except for when he told Kurt that he was gorgeous, that was really nice. Yeah, Kurt can admit that.
But that doesn’t matter because Blaine just brings up bad memories. Why should Kurt subject himself to bad memories when he could make good memories with someone new?
“So, um,” Kurt begins hesitantly as they close their books, “about the other night.”
Blaine stops moving, fingers poised over the edge of his notebook and eyes on the table.
“I’m – I’m sorry for, you know, all that stuff. I don’t know why I said all that.”
“Right,” Blaine nods, looking extremely tense and guarded.
“I think you were right.”
“…About what?”
“That maybe we should just – just call it a failed attempt. I mean, we’ve only got like, one tutoring session left and then we’ll be done and you won’t have to waste your time out here with me.”
For the briefest second imaginable, Blaine’s eyebrows scrunch together. His eyes still focused downward, he gives another nod and shoves his notebook into his backpack.
“See you around,” Blaine mumbles.
They exit together, which is entirely awkward, and when they see that they’ve parked next to each other in the lot, the awkwardness meter increases by…oh, say…a billion. Kurt shoves his bag in the backseat of his car as quickly as possible, ready to bolt until –
“He’s very good looking,” Blaine says over the top of his car to Kurt’s back. “The new guy.”
Kurt doesn’t turn around.
“I’m sure it’s easier for someone like you to be with someone like him,” Blaine continues. “But…for what it’s worth, Kurt? I’m – I’m still glad my first kiss was with you. Even if you’re ready to forget about it.”
Naturally, when Kurt doesn’t respond, Blaine climbs inside his car and leaves.
So it’s to an empty parking lot that Kurt whispers:
“I’ll never forget it.”
“Hey, doll,” Sebastian greets that next evening after Cheerios practice.
He’s standing next to Kurt’s car, arms crossed and a seductive smile on his thin lips. Kurt blushes immediately and bows his head.
“Hey,” he replies.
“Wanna get out of here?”
“Um…where do you wanna go?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Sebastian says smoothly.
“We could – we could get coffee,” Kurt suggests. “Or we could go to Breadstix. Because, well, that’s where everyone goes.”
Sebastian takes a step forward. He cups the side of Kurt’s neck with a cool palm, thumb brushing lightly over Kurt’s jaw.
“Well…I was thinking some place a little more…private,” he whispers. “If you know what I mean.”
“R-right. Yeah. Sure.”

Wow. I am so invested in this story - I can see the story arc being long and satisfying (eventually!). Mostly what I was thinking as I read this, though, is how impressed I am that all of your stories about these same characters are so incredibly different. I'm a little bit in awe. Well done! I can't wait for more.
oh god what is happening my heart is breaking and my ovaries are exploding at the same time. hands down, sweetest and most genuine nerd!blaine cheerio!kurt fic ever. i love the struggle kurt has with himself and i love how real it is, and not just him immediately changing his ways because that's not how it would be in real life. i just love everything about this.
Blaine just has my entire heart. He is everything beautiful and reluctant and genuine and I'm hopelessly in love with him.
