Author's Notes: it's nice to have some downtime, isn't it?reviews please?
The door to the limo slammed shut. Kurt settled himself on the back seat while Blaine checked out the mini bar. Jazzy instrumental played softly in the background. There were flameless, flickering votive candles in built-in candleholders on the interior walls of the limo. On the top of the bar, in a built-in vase, was a beautiful bouquet of red roses in baby's breath.
"Wow. They really stocked this mini bar and fridge well. Do you want anything?" Blaine asked.
"What is there to drink?" Kurt questioned.
"Everything. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sodas, juices, sparkling and bottled water, alcohol...you name it, it's probably here," Blaine answered as he evaluated the bar and fridge.
"I'll take a sparkling water with citrus flavor, if it's available," Kurt told him.
Blaine pulled out a bottle of Crystal Geyser lemon-flavored sparkling water and tossed it over to Kurt. Kurt cracked open the bottle and downed about half of it in one breath. And then he let out a belch that would have registered on the Richter scale.
"Very sexy," Blaine commented dryly causing Kurt to blush furiously.
"Yeah, well...I'm pretty dehydrated right now. And my head aches a bit. The water will make me feel better," Kurt justified, taking several more gulps of water.
"Oh, baby. I didn't know that. Do you need anything? There's some pain medication in the bar." When Kurt nodded, Blaine grabbed a blister pack of Advil and tossed it to Kurt. Kurt popped the capsules into his mouth and downed it with the rest of his water.
Blaine reached into the mini fridge and pulled out a bottle of ginger ale. He moved to sit next to Kurt. He took a couple of gulps of the drink, recapped it, and set it aside. Kurt moved to sit in Blaine's lap and wrap his arms around his neck while Blaine wrapped his arms around Kurt's waist.
Blaine turned his head to look out the back windshield. "Just Married–Legally! Who was responsible for writing that?" he inquired.
Kurt quietly sighed in exasperation. "I asked Rachel to make all the arrangements for the limo. I didn't expect her to remember that moment. But apparently she did. Does it offend you?"
"No, not at all. Actually, it gives me a huge surge of pride that I can say that I am legally married to you–my husband. I was just curious." He pulled Kurt closer to him. "Was this really Rachel's idea?"
"Well, it was either Rachel's or Jacob Ben Israel's idea. But as Jacob was not involved in our wedding, Rachel is the prime suspect."
"There's a story behind this, isn't there?" Blaine prodded.
"It's not a huge story, but it's there. Wanna hear it?" Blaine nodded, so Kurt continued. "It happened the first day of my senior year. It was a tradition for that gossipmonger to go around and ask the underclassmen what they did during the summer and ask the seniors what their future plans were. Jacob cornered Rachel and me in the choir room. Rachel laid out her plans for a Tony by the time she was 25. I added in a giddy, sing-song voice 'married by 30–legally' while wiggling the fingers on my left hand." Kurt paused. "It's actually kind of touching that Rachel remembered that," he mused softly.
They fell into a comfortable silence. They were content to simply sit there and hold each other and not feel the need to speak. Kurt gazed at his ring, admiring it. "This ring is absolutely gorgeous. It's simple, yet sophisticated. I love it."
"Check the inside."
"What?"
"Check the inside. I engraved it with a message."
Kurt took off his ring. "Just for the record, this is the only time I'm ever going to take this ring off." Blaine chuckled lightly at that. Kurt rotated the ring around in the light until he saw the message–Forever.
"Forever?" Kurt asked.
"I will always be yours forever, Kurt; always and forever. You and me, we are forever," Blaine explained.
Kurt's eyes softened as tears started to pool there. "You remember how you said that you're not very good at romance, back in the Lima Bean that Valentine's Day?" Blaine nodded. "Yeah, I've never believed that for a second. And this just reinforces my belief that you are the most romantic man in the world!"
Blaine was so overwhelmed by emotions that he couldn't speak. But since actions speak louder than words, Blaine simply kissed Kurt.
Kurt whimpered quietly when Blaine ended their kiss. "There's a message engraved inside your ring, too," Kurt offered shyly.
A look of surprise briefly flickered across Blaine's face as he removed his ring. He found the message–My Teenage Dream. Blaine looked at Kurt silently asking about it.
"You were my teenage dream, Blaine. When I was in sophomore year at McKinley, my biggest and most important dream was to find a guy who would love me as much as I would love him. I waited so long and hoped so hard for the day that I would have someone to love me. By the fall of junior year, I had lost all hope of finding someone in high school. But then I met you. And while it took you awhile to realize that you had feelings for me, when you kissed me for the first time, I knew that my dream had come true." Kurt blushed lightly. "Yeah, kinda silly, I know, but..."
Blaine grabbed Kurt's face in his hands with a surprising intensity. "No, Kurt! That is not silly! Never, ever call your dreams silly!" Blaine gently shook Kurt's head. When Kurt nodded, Blaine continued. "You and I, we will continue to make each other's dreams come true!" Kurt nodded again, and Blaine hugged him.
The last thing they did before pulling up in front of the Green Tavern Inn was to put their rings back on. The limo door was opened, Kurt got out first, then Blaine. Blaine held his arm out to Kurt. Kurt slipped his arm into Blaine's and they walked into the Inn together.
**********
The newlyweds were escorted to the dressing room, which was located to the side of the grand room where the reception–dinner and dancing–was to take place. It was where they could have some downtime and relax from the enjoyable pressure of the day's events. Charlie, their escort, showed them around the room.
On the wall opposite the door was a double-wide dressing table complete with dual lighted mirrors on the wall. To the left of the table, against the wall, there was a partitioned space that contained a toilet and a sink. Against the wall opposite the bathroom facilities, there was a large and deep leather sofa with scroll arms in a chocolate brown color with three cream colored pillows. On both ends of the sofa, were matching mahogany end tables, each holding an elegant brass lamp. The hunter green carpeting peeked out from under a decent sized Oriental rug. Assorted framed landscapes were hanging on the walls. A coat rack was standing next to the door.
"Charlie, where did my bag come from?" Kurt asked as he caught sight of his satchel sitting on the dressing table. He was surprised when he saw it, because it was one of the things he forgotten to take care of.
"Your dad brought it by this morning. He told us there were supplies that you were going to want to have," she replied.
"Now, is there anything else I can get you?" she asked the couple.
"Not right now, thanks," Blaine responded.
"Well, if you do think of anything, let me know. But for the time being, I'll go help with setting up the reception." Kurt thanked Charlie, and she left, closing the door behind her.
Alone again, Kurt and Blaine turned to look at each other. As Blaine stepped over to Kurt, he asked, "How are you feeling right now Mr Hummel?" with a cheeky glint in his eye. He pulled Kurt into his arms and leaned in to kiss him.
Kurt did not miss the glint in Blaine's eye, so he decided to play along. He put a hand on Blaine's chest and gently pushed him away. "Excuse me, but I am a married man and I only kiss my husband!" Kurt shot back teasingly.
Blaine tightened his arms around Kurt, pulling him even closer. This positioned Blaine's lips less than an inch away from Kurt's. "Well then, Mr Hummel-Anderson, how are you feeling right now?" he flirted.
"I'll only tell you if you kiss me first," Kurt whispered.
"I think that can be arranged." Blaine captured Kurt's lips in a slow and sensual kiss. The kiss quickly turned into a light make out session. After a couple of minutes, Blaine pulled back. "All right, I kissed you. Now answer my question."
Kurt whimpered at the loss of Blaine's soft kisses. "Is this a serious question or...?" Kurt asked.
"It was a legit question. This has been an emotionally charged day for both of us. How are you feeling?" Kurt was touched by Blaine's concern for his well-being.
Kurt walked over to the coat rack. He shrugged out of his white tuxedo jacket, brushed off the back and the tails, and hung it up. Then he went over to Blaine, grasped the shoulders of his black tuxedo jacket, slipped it off him, and hung it up.
"Honestly, I'm going through so many emotions right now, that I'm not really aware of what I'm feeling. Does that make any sense?"
"Yeah, I think it does."
"But I do know this," Kurt continued, "First, this is the happiest day of my life. I cannot think of any other time in my life that I've been this happy." He pecked Blaine on the lips. "Second, I am so incredibly lucky and grateful to be blessed with having you in my life, now and forever." Another quick peck of lips. "And third, I. Love. You."
Kurt pulled Blaine into a hug. Blaine responded by tightening his grip on Kurt and whispered, "I love you too. So much."
Kurt let go of Blaine and made his way to the sofa and sat down. "My headache is pretty much gone, so that's a good thing. But in all seriousness, now that we have some downtime, the fatigue is starting to set in." As if to illustrate his point, Kurt gave a huge yawn.
Kurt's yawn caused Blaine to yawn. "We have about an hour until the reception officially starts. What do you think about taking a nap? I kinda feel like I just hit the proverbial brick wall," Blaine suggested as he sat down next to Kurt.
"A power nap?"
Blaine nodded. "A power nap," he confirmed.
Kurt went over to the dressing table and rummaged through his bag. He pulled out his cell phone and opened up a new text message.
Hey Dad. Blaine and I are here. We're going to take a power nap. Can you wake us up either when you get here or in 45 minutes, whichever one is longer? Thanks Dad, love you.
Burt's response came almost instantaneously. You got it Kiddo. Sleep well. And Kurt, I love you and am very proud of you and Blaine. Give Blaine my love.
Kurt smiled at his dad's text. He put his phone away and then sat next to Blaine on the sofa. "Dad's going to wake us up so we don't oversleep." Kurt circled his arms around Blaine and then reclined them back onto the sofa. Blaine snuggled up to Kurt's side and rested his head on Kurt's chest. Kurt pressed a kiss to the top of Blaine's head and rubbed his hands up and down Blaine's left arm. "Dad sends you his love."
Blaine sighed deeply, taking in the aroma of Kurt's clean scent. "I love your dad. I just wish my dad was like yours," Blaine said wistfully.
"Forget about your dad, sweetie. He's not worth it. My dad is your dad now. I excelled in sharing in kindergarten. I am more than happy to share him with you," Kurt said him softly. Blaine moved his head up, kissed Kurt in thanks, and resettled his head on Kurt's chest. After a few minutes of quiet contemplation, Kurt heard and felt the slow and steady rhythm of Blaine's sleep. He carefully slipped a pillow under his head and got comfortable. Once Kurt closed his eyes, he drifted right off to sleep.
