Blaine stopped and felt his heart leap out of his chest. The young demon had no idea what kind of effect he had on him. He mustered up enough courage and when he felt like his voice was steady enough he spoke.
“What do you want?”
It wasn’t. Blaine sounded tired, in a way he was. He wanted everything to go back to normal, when he hated his brother and when he wasn’t infatuated with his teammate. His voice was also slightly broken; he knew it was from holding back tears that he just couldn’t let fall.
“Blaine,” Kurt softened his tone and placed a hand on the Uchiha’s shoulder. His touch sent jolts of electricity through Blaine and he couldn’t help but relax into the feeling. “You’ve been on edge ever since the battle with Nick, are you sure you’re alright?”
Blaine swallowed a lump in his throat. He wished he was somewhere else, he was not comfortable talking about his feelings. He quickly looked around for a distraction. All the shops in the marketplace were closing up, and the sky became darker as the old lanterns lit the street. Blaine turned around on his heel facing Kurt, well not facing him, he was a few inches shorter, but he kept his face hard and confident. He was awestruck by how well the dim light complemented Kurt’s pale face, his skin glowed, brighter than any fire Blaine had ever seen, and his eyes shone like an ocean, the blue and green hues melting into each other creating a new color all together. He realized he’d been staring and cursed to himself silently as he walked away, to his dismay Kurt followed.
“Blaine, I-I,” Kurt stuttered on his words and Blaine felt bad, he really did. He didn’t want to be causing this much trouble to his teammate, but he couldn’t deal with him right now.
“Kurt, stop.”
The pale boy looked up into Blaine’s hazel eyes and his heart sunk again, but for an entirely different reason. Kurt’s cheeks were chapped and his eyes stained red. He’d been crying, Kurt didn’t need any more pain in his life and Blaine wished it was someone else that caused him heartbreak so he could protect him.
“I-I’m sorry,” Blaine took a deep breath, calming his nerves, “I didn’t mean to hurt you and Quinn, the pressure just made me snap, I’ve never been on a mission before, certainly not one this big.”
He gestured to the space around him. Kurt nodded for him to continue.
“I guess I’m just nervous I’m going to fail. My brother called me a failure; he said I couldn’t even protect my family.”
Blaine felt tears brim his eyes, and he lifted his arm to wipe them away, but before he could Kurt placed his hands on Blaine’s and walked him to a nearby bench. They sat down, Blaine falling into a comfortable silence as Kurt pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his eyes.
Blaine gave a bitter laugh, “I didn’t think people actually carried these around.”
Kurt smiled faintly, “It was my mothers. I always keep it with me.”
Blaine nodded as Kurt finished tending to Blaine.
Kurt wiped the golden brown eyes free of sadness, he felt the warmth return to them and he smiled.
“There’s the Blaine I know,” they sat there gazing into each other’s understanding eyes. Blaine knew he and Kurt had been through so much pain, but suddenly the idea of them getting through that pain together was really inviting. Before Blaine realized it he was leaning his face towards the young boy, he had an urge, no, need to be with Kurt and it both thrilled and sent him on edge at the same time. But as soon as Blaine’s lips ghosted Kurt’s the demon flinched away from his face.
Flinched.
He wasn’t hesitant, no; Kurt literally flinched away from Blaine. Did Kurt really hate him that much? Blaine was confused, disappointed, and excited all at the same time. He didn’t even kiss Kurt; he just felt the other boy’s warm breath on his face. Blaine needed to feel Kurt on him and it was really scaring him. Blaine took in the boy that had fallen off the bench into the grass. His hand was over his heart and he was breathing really hard.
“What the hell Kurt?”
Blaine was mad; he put out his hand for the demon to take, and pulled him to his feet.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know what you were doing and-“
“Did you not want to kiss me?” Blaine interrupted him; his mind was far from his rational side. He couldn’t think straight. He just wanted to kiss Kurt, to feel him, to hold him.
“I-“
Kurt tried to speak but was interrupted by Blaine once again.
“Is it because of Thad?” Blaine was seething, if that damn bug catcher was in the way Blaine would have to deal with him.
“No, I-“
Blaine didn’t listen he didn’t want to listen. He couldn’t take any more pain, so for once in his life he did something.
“Blaine?”
Kurt was cut off by Blaine pulling on Kurt’s vest; he pulled the boy flush with him, hip to hip. He stared into Kurt’s eyes, Blaine was overcome with lust. He’d never felt this way before, it almost wasn’t him. It was like something was overtaking him.
“Tell me you don’t want kiss me.”
It was a simple statement. Blaine was taking control of this situation. He needed to know what Kurt felt, he was desperate. Years of having nobody by his side, nobody to hold him was wearing him down. He didn’t even realize how much he wanted this until this very moment. He saw Kurt open his mouth and hesitate.
“I can’t kiss you.”
As soon as his words were out in the air Blaine felt something dark stir in his stomach, it was painful, much like he felt after the death of his entire family, he was about to panic. He was so warm and content with Kurt, he needed him.
“What?”
Blaine’s voice sounded so hurt, so broken that it broke Kurt a little inside too. Kurt didn’t know Blaine liked him this much, if he was being honest this Blaine was a little out of character.
“I cannot kiss you, Blaine.”
He repeated the statement with more steel in his voice, he really didn’t want to hurt the young Uchiha, God only knows how many times he’s been hurt already, But Kurt could not let him fall in love with him… or vice versa.
Blaine was going mad, he shook his head a few times to get a grip but it was to no avail. His grip on Kurt’s vest tightened his knuckles turning white. His vision was blurring and he couldn’t think straight, which probably explained why he was crazy enough to do what he did next.
He pulled on Kurt’s collar and crushed their mouths together. Blaine melted into the feeling and flicked his tongue across Kurt’s lips, it felt so good, and Blaine needed the release, Kurt fisted his hands in Blaine’s scalp making his gel and neatly styled hair mussed, but he didn’t care, it felt hot. Once Blaine realized that Kurt was pushing him away instead of bringing them together he released the boy’s lips, and tried to speak breathlessly.
“Kurt what’s-“
Before Blaine could finish the sentence a burst of red chakra enveloped them both, Blaine blinked rapidly as he suddenly felt all the lust and need wash away. He was about to back off Kurt when the chakra materialized into a hand and smacked Blaine down into the deck. Kurt gasped as the evil energy faded away and he calmed down. Kurt was feeling so many emotions, hurt, lust, fright; he didn’t know what to do. He kneeled down next to Blaine, his eyes were clenched shut and he heard his back snap. Schue Sensei and Quinn would be asking questions. He couldn’t tell them the truth of what Kurt really is, what really happened, but what could he say?
“Blaine, are you alright?”
Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine’s torso and pulled him into a sitting position, he was relieved the boys back wasn’t broken, but surely he was feeling more pain than he showed. The Nine Tailed Demon Fox does not hold back.
“Does it look like I’m alright?”
Kurt was sure Blaine intended for his statement to sound rude and biting, but all Kurt heard was sadness, longing built up over many years.
Kurt took a deep breath, “Blaine, you didn’t really want to kiss me.”
The Uchiha blinked a few times before Kurt saw his pupils focus, his honey eyes were darker, less vibrant. Not with lust but with… Anger.
“Who are you to tell me what I’m feeling,” Blaine struggled to get up but Kurt held him down.
“No, you were controlled by your emotions; the Kyubi took advantage of that!”
Kurt hadn’t used the ancient name of the Nine Tailed Demon Fox since explaining to Burt what he was all those years ago.
“What are you talking about?”
Kurt shifted his eyes away from Blaine’s. He didn’t know if he wanted to go through with this. He’d never confided the whole story about his birth to anyone but Burt and even Lady Sue only knew bits and pieces.
“I’m going to tell you my story, can I trust you?”
Kurt got up and held out his palm for Blaine to take.
“Of course you can Kurt; I’d like to think that we’re friends.”
He gave a humorless laugh as he took the demon’s hands. Kurt really did appreciate Blaine even if he was confused with his emotions. He felt like he needed to tell Blaine his story, he owed it to him.
Kurt led the young Uchiha towards the bench they had sat at before Blaine kissed him. Kurt could feel the cold metal when he sat down. The Land of Waves got increasingly cold at night, unlike its hot and sticky days. They bore into each other’s eyes as Blaine waited for Kurt to speak. He took a shaky breath and started.
“As you know when my mother, Elizabeth, gave birth to me the village was under attack of the Nine Tailed Fox.”
Blaine nodded for Kurt to continue.
“At first the whole village thought it was some simple jutsu, the elders and the former Hokage thought she simply sealed the demon within me. But they started noticing… changes.”
“What kind of changes?” Blaine asked intrigued.
“Whenever somebody tried to hug me, or love me even, they would fall into an almost drunken state to try to please me. At first it was merely platonic, like buying me toys and wanting to play with me, but as I got older I noticed people wanted to start pleasing me in more adult ways.”
Blaine turned beet red as he rubbed his neck, “Sorry, about that.”
Kurt waved his hand as if he was waving off the idea, “It’s okay, and you were being manipulated.”
Blaine nodded and waited for Kurt to continue.
“Anyways, Burt was the only one who didn’t have this condition. The Fox had no control over him. It was strange really. But there were rumors that he and my mother dated before I was born, or were dating. Of course she died and I never had the courage to ask my father. I think my mother implanted some of her good will and love into the Fox so I didn’t have to lead a very dark life, I think the Fox bends to my will of wanting to be loved. Of course, all blessings come with a curse.”
Kurt shrugged as Blaine put a hand on his shoulder.
“The Fox can get jealous, I think it doesn’t like people loving me in a way that it can’t. When I turned fourteen I noticed that people stopped always wanting to please me, and they started pushing me away, everyone except Burt of course. I noticed a Five Pronged Seal showed up when I reached that age.”
Kurt lifted up his undershirt to reveal a black spiral seal spreading from his navel up to mid stomach, tattooed with the seal were the Chinese characters for Water, Earth, Fire, Wind, and Lightning. He heard Blaine gasp and pulled his shirt back down.
“My mother said to me in a dream one day,” He stopped to take a breath, he hated remembering the horrid nightmare he had a few years ago, “She said she loved me.”
“That’s not so bad,” Kurt held up a hand to stop Blaine from continuing.
“She said she loved me, but she hated Konoha. She said she sealed the demon within me as a memento, she said she’d do anything to destroy the village, including sacrifice herself to do it.”
“Kurt it’s okay, it really pains me to see you cry,” Blaine’s voice was soothing, Kurt hadn’t even realized he was crying until Blaine pointed it out. He wiped angrily at his hot tears.
“She said there would be people after me, an organization, I don’t know what it was called or when they’re going to come but I’m terrified, Blaine. My sole purpose in this world is to destroy; I was literally brought up to destroy the village.”
“I would help you,” Blaine said looking at his palms after a long painful silence.
Kurt put a hand over his own mouth, “No Blaine, don’t say that.”
Blaine shook his head and brought Kurt’s hand down into his own, he looked him straight in the eye, all his golden color coming back.
“I would though, everything that matters to me is gone,” Blaine bit his lip before continuing, “Except for you.”
Kurt shook his head repeatedly again before Blaine continued, more frantically than before.
“And Quinn would help too, and even Thad if you want him too. People care about you Kurt, and I don’t know what the extent is because the demon could be controlling me right now, but I do too.”
Kurt placed his head in the crook of Blaine’s shoulder and cried. He hadn’t cried this hard in a long time, and the strange thing was, it was tears of joy. Blaine traced careful circles on Kurt’s back.
“C’mon, they’re probably wondering where we are. And Kurt,”
Kurt turned his head towards the Uchiha as he got up.
“Do you mind keeping our kiss to ourselves?”
Kurt smiled, he understood. Blaine was probably confused, confused and hurt.
“Of course.”
“We have to get back to them. Tazuna’s not going to die on his own, not soon anyway.”
Jeff was leaning against a stone pillar somewhere deep in the Land of Waves at Gato’s shipping warehouse. He personally hated Gato; he was a small, arrogant man who bullied everybody just because he has money. And power, a lot of power.
“Let me rest,” Nick was slumped in one of Gato’s many plush couches, sipping on a pink drink.
Jeff lifted a finger and immediately crystallized the vibrant liquid to Nick’s surprise. He waved his finger off to the right and crashed the drink into the wall sending pink crystals flying.
“Jeff I was drinking that,” He eyed the mess with intrigue before adding, “And who’s going to clean that up?”
Jeff shrugged and shook his head moving his blonde hair out of his eyes, “Get one of his “minions” to do it.”
Gato had many ninja, most below Genin level working for him in the shipping plant. He referred to them as minions but really they were just there to do the dirty work.
Nick gave a gruff laugh, “You’re so cruel Jeff, and you could run me into the water with your words.”
Jeff gave a smirk, “Or I could bury you in ice.”
