Blaine found himself at the second Glee club wedding, after Wemma of course. Finn and Rachel were finally getting married. They had tried twice in their senior year, but everyone was pretty sure this time would end better.
The ceremony nearly mirrored the one of their first wedding attempted. The bridal party and location remained unchanged, just a few changes to the bridesmaid dresses. As it began, Blaine looked around to see his old classmates. He sitting, sandwiched between Quinn and Jake, two rows from Kurt one of the groomsmen. On the other side of Quinn was Joe, then Rory. Next to Jake sat Marely. Kitty and Ryder sat behind them, along with Unique. Even Matt had returned. Jesse St. James also showed up and of course Jacob Ben Isreale and Zizes.
In the front was Will and Emma, next to Shelby and the now 13 Beth. Of course Rachel's dads were front and center, next to the Hummel-Hudsons. Blaine was still avoiding Burt, he feared whatever wrath would be turned upon him. But, the sight that shocked Blaine the most was Sue. She sat in the back trying to remain unnoticed with Becky Jackson on one side and another blonde girl on the other. Blaine assumed it was her daughter, Robin; he saw the resemblance as the two Sylvesteres sat poised and unmoved.
Toronto made an adorable ring bear and Will and Emma's seven year old daughter was the flower girl. Rachel was also the most stunning and breathtaking bride Blaine had ever seen. Finn was shifting nervously as both her dads gave her away. Nevertheless, he was grinning, ear to ear, the same dopey smile. Seeing them looking at each other with such love and intensity, like the air they breathe and the sun that keeps them warm, took Blaine back. The fate of the New Directions relied on their relationship status for the better half of three years. Now they can call each other their better halfs, their world that never stops spinning.
Despite the chemistry and hullabaloo of the bride and groom, Blaine's eyes went to the bridal party. He scanned past Mercedes, Sugar, Santana, Brittany and Tina, all looking stunning in their pink bridesmaids dresses. He overlooked Puck, the best man, Mike, Sam and Artie, until his eyes found Kurt. That was all the needed.
Blaine raked his eyes over the groomsman, his tall body dressed in their uniform tux. His blue eyes shined and he remained a wide smile for his brother and best friend, while he tried not to fidget through the ceremony. However, Blaine could've sat still for hours, soaking in the beauty of the man before him.
Kurt was relieved when the ceremony had ended. His knees had been locked and he was starting to regret it.
The reception resembled Will and Emma's as far as the stage and color scheme, but instead of hearts were daisies, lots of daisies.
Kurt sat next to Mercedes. They had both made their round of catching up with everyone and Kurt finally had a break while Toronto chatted the ears off of his grandparents. Now he and Mercedes were free to chat the ears off of one another.
"Does Toronto know about him?" Mercedes asked.
Kurt shook his head, "No, I've only told you and Rachel. And I think Santana might've found out. Knowing other people's business is like her hobby."
"Why haven't you told anyone else? Are you guys not public yet?" She interrogated.
"Cedes, we aren't even exclusive yet! We just hang out and stuff." Kurt defended. But, he really wished they were exclusive. He's been wanting to mention it, but was never sure how he should bring it up.
"You've been 'just hanging out' for over three years now! Percy needs to get his act together or you need to forget him." Mercedes explained, before going to Sam who had waved her over from across the hotel ballroom.
Kurt wished it was that easy with Percy. The thing with him is that he's still married to his wife. They were high school sweethearts, and he's still not comfortable enough to come out to her and break things off. He and Kurt have been sneaking around together for awhile now. And even though somedays it hurts Kurt to be that close to a guy who isn't ready to really reciprocate the feelings, he likes being with Percy. He'd been lonely.
Not that being lonely is an excuse, he reminded himself. That's what Blaine had claimed when he cheated on Kurt those many years ago.
Blaine. The name was laced with memories- some good, some bad. Kurt had planned to meet with Blaine for lunch the previous day. But, Blaine canceled last minute with a delayed flight excuse. Kurt hadn't talked to him since. Although, he did catch Blaine gazing at him during the ceremony.
But, now it was Kurt's turn to stare. Blaine was on stage finishing a song Kurt had recognized from his tour. And of course people had been cycling through and sharing the stage, because if you have glee kids, you must have an open mic. When Blaine caught Kurt's eye, he finished the song and grabbed the mic to speak.
"If you guys don't mind, I had one other song." Blaine waited for the audiences reaction. No one ever minded listening to him sing, especially not Kurt. And Toronto, who was gushing enthusiastically to anyone who listened. "I'd like to dedicate this song to the Hummel-Hudson-Berry's. Now three families becoming one." He grinned to Finn and Rachel, before his eyes drifted to Kurt, then back. "Here's to you guys." Blaine queued the band, and Kurt recognized the song immediately. Teenage Dream.
Kurt leaned back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest. He watched Blaine sing, trying to make everyone believe he was singing to the happy couple. But, Kurt saw through his lies. The way he glanced at Kurt, meer seconds of starring at him like he was the best thing in the world. Like Kurt was everything he needed and more. And maybe he was, not that Kurt would buy into that. When Blaine left him, he became successful. He starting doing more with his life than teaching local kids to play music and singing in bars, cars and showers.
Kurt needed him, however. He wouldn't admit it, not even to himself, but Blaine was his world. The past five years he's been a little off. He smiled differently, his eyes always clouded over with a memory. A daring soul might even confess that his hair is losing its shine. Blaine is essentially the dog food to Kurt's golden retriever.
Of course the older man would blame it on the struggles of a single parent. But, Santana and Rachel, as coparents of Toronto, would disagree. Kurt was simply a broken heart in disguise.
Blaine caught Kurt's eye and winked at him as he finished the song. "Let me be your teenage dream tonight." He breathed into the mic. And seemingly on their own accord, Kurt was walking to the stage exit to meet Blaine. Santana shimmied onto the stage, followed by Quinn. The duo began singing Take My Breathe Away, Finn and Rachel's senior prom song.
"Dance with me." He stated before he could think other wise. Blaine simply smiled, letting Kurt place his hands on Blaine's shoulders. His own hands rested on Kurt's back. They moved to the music, same as everyone else. But, Blaine paid them no attention. He was in his own little world. He was enchanted by Kurt's embracing warmth and sweet scent. "You look beautiful." Blaine whispered, his breathe tickling Kurt's ear. "And you totally killed The Way You Look Tonight." Blaine recalled watching Kurt in awe.
"Thanks. You were pretty great yourself." Kurt replied softly. Blaine grinned at the compliment and nuzzled into Kurt's shoulder. This was a suprise to the older man, but a pleasant one.
Over Blaine's shoulder, Kurt watched the room slowly spin. He ignored Mercedes's questioning glance, Santana's thumbs up as she left the stage and Sam's as he entered the stage. But, he also saw Toronto holding hands and dancing with Grace Schuester. 'They grow up so fast.' He thought.
Sam, now on stage without the band or Brad, sat on a stool with a guitar.
We got the afternoon
You got this room for two
One thing I've left to do
Discover me
Discovering you
Blaine immediately recognized the song, he always had a soft spot for John Mayer. He joined in on the next lyric, whispering it quitely in Kurt's ear.
One mile to every inch of
Your skin like porcelain
Blaine placed a kiss to Kurt's neck.
One pair of candy lips and
Your bubblegum tongue
He placed another kiss, then another and another.
And if you want love
We'll make it
Blaine began leaving a trail of sweet kisses up and down Kurt's neck, his tongue brush past his lips.
Swim in a deep sea
Of blankets
"Blaine..." Kurt warned.
Take all your big plans
And break 'em
"Mm?" He hummed, his lips still on Kurt. He knew he was in trouble, but he was too busy to care.
This is bound to be a while
Kurt didn't say anything, he just grabbed Blaine's hand. He led him out of the reception, shoving him into an empty elevator and connecting their lips. Pinned to the wall, Blaine hungrily kissed back, pushing off Kurt's jacket. The door slid shut behind them.
"What floor?" Kurt breathed, disconnection their lips for only a moment.
"Five. Floor five." Kurt pressed the button, along with a few others. Blaine loosened Kurt's tie, then made his shirt his next mission. He made it past the first two buttons, before Kurt grabbed his hands.
"Not yet..." He whispered into Blaine's ear. He pinned the younger boys hands above his head and began kissing Blaine's neck in the same way Blaine had done to him in the reception. He parted his soft lips and let the tip of his tongue run over his neck and sucking on it a little. Under him, Blaine was squirming and whining.
When the elevator dinged open, the two boys all but sprinted to Blaine's room. Kurt pressed him to the door, unbuttoning his shirt and again went to work on his neck. Blaine was trying to pull the room key from his wallet, but Kurt was distracting him.
"Mh, Kurt.." Blaine whined, trying to turn under the weight of the older man.
"Yes, babe?" Kurt teased, kissing Blaine on the lips and not wasting anytime before slipping his tongue into his mouth. It'd been too long since he'd last tastes Blaine and the two tounges struggle for dominaxe, until Blaine pulled away.
"I need to..door." He mumbled, turning around and opening the door, while Kurt resumed sucking on his neck. Blaine almost fell into the room, followed by Kurt who kicked the door shut with his foot.
Your body is a wonderland
Kurt rolled over to look at Blaine, "So, are weddings like our thing now?" Blaine simply hummed and nodded his response. "And you're okay with that?" He asked, peppering Blaine's chest with soft kisses.
"Yeah..." Blaine sighed. He cupped Kurt's face in his hands, tilting it towards his own. Kurt leaned his lips to Blaine's, about to kiss the boy. Last second, he stopped, his lips hovering above Blaine's, almost touching.
"I have to go." He whispered. Kurt climbed over Blaine, out of the bed. He started dressing himself back into his clothes from the wedding.
Blaine whined, "don't leave."
"I have to. If Toronto wakes up at my parents house and I'm not there, he'll start asking questions that I really don't wanna answer." Kurt explained, buckling his belt.
"Will I see you again?" Blaine asked.
Kurt shrugged his shirt on, "I don't know. I'm leaving for New York tomorrow."
"Oh, me too." Blaine grinned. He had been waiting to tell Kurt that, he just hadn't found the right moment.
"What?"
Blaine's smile grew, "I'll be in New York for the next two weeks. I have an interview in a few days, and I figured I'd stay for awhile. Just enjoy the city life."
Kurt was surprised, to say the least. He wasn't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. He knew it would be good for Toronto and tonight had reminded him how much he missed Blaine. But, Percy was in New York.
"Oh.." Kurt, now fully dressed, started for the door. "Great. I'll see you in New York." Blaine nodded. "Bye Blaine."
Kurt slipped into the house sometime around midnight, locking the door behind himself. He felt he was back in high school, sneaking into his dad and Carole's house late at night. The nostalgia grew when the light flickered on, revealing his dad waiting at the bottom of the stairs.
"Where have you been?" His father questioned.
Kurt ran a hand over his already disheveled hair. "I had to, um, wedding stuff. I helped with clean up, it took longer than we expected."
"Kurt, you're a father now. You can't stay out late without an explanation or warning." Burt lectured. "And you also can't disappear in the middle of your bestfriend and brother's reception. You didn't even make a toast."
"I sang." Kurt lamely defended. "I'm sorry, dad. It won't happen again. I'm still trying to figure out the whole single father thing. I know you understand." Even though Burt didn't have to raise Kurt from as young an age as Toronto on his own, he did eventually. From the age of seven, Kurt was motherless. It was just him and Burt.
"I know, buddy. You're doing alright. Toronto fell asleep watching a movie on the couch." His dad pointed to the living room, where his grandson was sleeping.
"Thanks. Goodnight dad." Kurt said, turning to retrieve his son from the couch and take him to Finn's old room, where the five year old was suppose to sleep.
"Goodnight." His father started up the stairs to his room, but stopped. "Hey, Kurt?"
"Yeah, dad?"
"Did you see Blaine at the wedding? He vanished around the same time you did."
Kurt blushed a deep red, "nope. Didn't see him." He lied to his dad.
"Alright, goodnight." Burt gave him a knowing smile, then continued to his room.
