"Rachel?" Finn called into the apartment. The small brunette appeared from a hallway, running up to Finn and throwing her arms around him with a squeal. Blaine watched from the doorway, not quite feeling welcome. He loosened up a little when Rachel saw him over Finn's shoulder and gave him a small smile.
After their embrace, which seemed to last centuries, Rachel greeted Blaine. "How are you?" She asked pulling him into a briefer, far less intimate hug. "I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!" She probably hadn't, but the feelings weren't mutual. Blaine sees her on stage, opening and closing night of all of her shows. He would go and meet her at the stage or door or text her so they can meet up somewhere. But, him and Sam always having something to do. The rarely even get to see the ends of the shows. "What're you doing here?" She asked.
Blaine and Finn looked to each other, before Blaine spoke up. "I wanted to talk to you about something." Rachel glanced between the two men, sensing the mood change.
"Mercedes was visiting that weekend, so we were going to go shopping on 5th Avenue, of course." Rachel began. Blaine had already told her about his run ins with Kurt and Santana, before they were able to coax her tale out of her. "And it was getting late, starting to get much darker and we headed towards Time Square. And like," she seemed pretty shaken up about this, clutching a pillow to her chest as Finn rubbed her back. "Like halfway there, we were in an emptier part of the city, the stores around it were all closed, no workers, no shoppers, no tourists, which is insane for this city! And then, the alarm of the store right next to us starts going off and before we can even react, we see two people run out. It was a man and woman, both with cat ears. And all I could see was her signature Cherrios high ponytail, she still wears it, and his eyes. Those eyes- they just stopped and starred at us and we just stopped and starred back. She was calling him with same voice she used to yell at me for years, I know that voice. And then she almost said his name, she called me Berry and him Hummel almost always, and she said 'Hum' then stopped herself, grabbed him and ran." Rachel was leaning farther and farther forward getting closer to Blaine. "Hum, Blaine, hum! Like Hummel." She concluded leaning back into the couch.
Blaine nodded, "Like Kurt Hummel, got it. He calls me Mr. Anderson sometimes. Kurt always called me that when he thought he was going to beat me in Air Hockey." He had been speaking slowly, his gaze fixated on this fingers. But, he shook his head and looked at the two friends across from him, determination all over his face. "I have a plan." They both looked to him intrigued. "We are going to wine and dine him." Blaine said, with a grin.
Rachel beamed with excitement, but Finn still looked confused. "Wait, are we trying to get laid?"
"No, Finn, don't you get it?" Rachel turned to him. He shook his head, still a little lost. "Blaine can talk to him and get more information from him! Right?"
Blaine nodded, "the best part is when you two come in. Of course through the whole meal or whatever, you guys will be there as like back up and to catch any small things that I miss. And then, when he leaves I have a special mission for Finn." He was the definition of thrilled- so excited you're terrified. "You have to follow him home." Finn's little half smirk of pride over being the chosen one fell.
"I don't know, Kurt is like, really observant and I'm not. He might know I'm following him and lead me into a trap or something. He's kinda bitchy when he wants to be alone. And don't you think he'll recognize us?"
"Way ahead of you, Finn. We're all going in costume!" Blaine's enthusiasm was matched with Rachel's. All Finn had to offer was a half hearted fake cheer. "I'll be Robin obviously, and you guys can be superheroes too!"
"Wonder Woman! I have to be, I just, it's perfect." Rachel said.
"Actually, she's copyrighted and would probably kick your ass if you impersonated her." Blaine told Rachel, making her smile falter. "But I like the enthusiasm!" Her bright smile was back in full swing.
"It's time for the Treble Cleff's triumphant return." Finn announced.
"And I'm sure I'll think of something." Rachel rushed. Blaine nodded, reassuringly.
"Now," Blaine said. "We just need to find a way for me to talk to him. My friends, we have to set a trap." They all looked at each other excitedly.
