Blaine was gazing into space, his mind preoccupied and elsewhere, while the Warblers chatted on animatedly. It was the third coffee date Blaine has had with Trent, Cam, Nick, Jeff, Wes, and David since they've all graduated from college and moved to New York. Jeff and Nick were informing them about the musical they had seen the night before.
Blaine, however, couldn't stop thinking about his mission last week. Catman. He couldn't even begin to fathom past that. Especially when Cam snapped his fingers in front of Blaine's face, "Hey, B, we're leaving. You okay?"
"What?" Blaine looked up from his trance, they were now all standing with coats on. "Uh, yeah, I'm fine."
"Okay..." Cam still looked hesitant, "See ya later." The entire group gave him goodbyes while he waved from his seat.
"Bye, guys." He stayed in his seat for a little longer, alone at the table, not wanting to face Sam, another mission and more shame. But, he had to.
"Hey, Tana?"Kurt asked, during their stretching.
"Um, Sam?" Blaine asked, pausing the video game. "Do you know anything about Catwoman's sidekick?"
"What do you know about Robin?"Kurt asked.
"Ugh, amature." Santana scoffed.
"What? Does she have one?" Sam asked.
"Nevermind." Blaine shrugged. "Do you think we'll see them at our next mission, like are they up to anything?"
"What're we up to next? Gonna screw with Batman more, or?" Kurt asked, sliding into the splits.
"Uh, yeah, why not?" Santana shrugged, before doing a layout.
"Actually, Blaine or Robin, since I'm saying this as Batman in terms of business, I think it's best that you sit this next one. I mean, maybe- probably, depending on what it'll be. I never know until it's happening." Batman explained, rambling in attempt to cover Blaine's depressed mood. "But, as Sam, you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just wanna redeem myself." Blaine lied.
"Okay, uh, great." Kurt said, standing and leaving slowly. "Thanks."
Sliding on his sleek black mask, Kurt was pleased Santana had managed to arrange another meet up with Batman. The clever Cat knew Batman and his boy wonder would be patroling Gotham and wouldn't hesitate to stop a break in at the new art gallery. She even planned how to lure Batman to the site, I get to illuminate the sky with his signal. And this trip wasn't in vain, they planned to take some staute Santana got really hyped over. Kurt was going to see Blaine again.
"Where are you going?" Blaine asked, trying to sound calm, but sounding way to eager.
Sam was in full Batman uniform, heading out to the Bat Mobile. "Oh, just patroling."
"Can I come?" Blaine asked.
"I... I think I can handle Gotham alone for a night." Sam said.
"Okay." Blaine nodded, trying to hide his hurt. Sam felt like he couldn't do it. Yes, Blaine had been slipping more and more. But, that was from his paranoia, he felt everyone saw Blaine through his Robin mask. And he had Kurt on his mind again.
Sam patted his shoulder, despairingly. "See ya." Then he left.
In the emptiness of the house, Blaine found himself alone on his bed, starring at the ceiling through the darkness of the room. He kept replaying it in his head. All of it. Catman. Kurt. All the similarities, from Kurt's one of a kind eyes to his gentle lips, Blaine knew that face. And the voice was like Kurt's with a little more flare; if seduction could talk... No. Kurt has been widely known to be murdered with Santana for years. Blaine and Brittany's relationship really was built off of that. Slowly and surely Blaine was becoming okay without Kurt, but Catman just ruined all of that. Falling asleep to the sound of his own heart rebreaking, Blaine's sleepy eyes found a familiar sight. The Batman Search Light. Something was about to go down and Blaine was not letting Sam do it alone. As their friend Rachel might say, "whether it's heart-attack or heart break, just like Broadway, the show must go on."
