I was scared, I was scared, tired and under prepared but I wait for it

"I don't know why we haven't been out for food before." Kurt mused, pushing the last of his noodles around on his plate.

Blaine groaned, clutching his stomach. "I am so full. This is exactly why we don't go out for food because you can never have too much coffee but you can certainly have too much Chinese food."

Kurt rolled his eyes, his head lolling to the side, resting on Blaine's shoulder as they lent back against the booth they were sat in. "Shut up coffee addict. Anyway, I've been meaning to ask, how are things? You didn't tell me if you got that job you interviewed for last week."

Blaine froze. Shit. "I - um - everything is - everything is great. I just forgot to tell you about it, it's just in a garage." He sat up quickly, Kurt's head smacking against the wood of the seat behind him causing him to hiss in pain. "I don't even need to busk - I - er - that's just for extra cash. Hey is that the time, I need to be getting back, work tomorrow."

"Blaine, what's going on. You're being very odd."

"Nothing!" Blaine snapped, rising from his seat. "I'll see you tomorrow okay?"

Kurt frowned as he watched Blaine leave. What the hell was that? He knew the boy was odd. Kurt was used to him being protective of his life. He never took Kurt to his apartment. He never really spoke about himself or his family. He'd briefly mentioned his mother but he never went into detail and would always change the subject if Kurt pressed. However, he always spoke fondly and passionately about music and took a keen interest in Kurt's life.

"Where are you going, it's our Friday night Barbara movie marathon?" Rachel had her hand on the door, stopping Kurt from going through.

Kurt sighed. "Rachel, please move. I have somewhere I have to go."

"You've been acting really weird lately. You go out for 'coffee' every night and don't come home till late, you barely come out with us or stay home in the flat anymore. You spend all your time doing secret things and no one even knows where you go or what you do."

"Look Rachel, I do just go for coffee okay? I go to Leroy's place but I'm not going there. I - I lost something okay - something important and I need to go and get it back. I'm sorry, I'll reschedule our Barbarathon for another night, just please let me out?" He pleaded. Rachel defeated, crossed her arms, letting him go through.

"I'll find out the truth Kurt Hummel. I always do!" She called after him as he took off to his car.

He stood outside Blaine's apartment building, not knowing how the hell he'd get in as he didn't have a clue which number Blaine's apartment was.Suddenly he heard a loud tearing sound and "Oh fuck!" He whipped round to see a woman stood on the steps, her groceries around her feet.

"Here, let me help you." Kurt said, scrambling to help pick up her shopping.

"Thanks so much for your help doll." The woman asked, opening the door to her apartment and letting him in. "My detergent leaked and disintegrated the bottom of my bag and I didn't notice. That's the only problem with paper bags right?"

"Where do you want me to put these?" He asked, arms full of vegetables, milk and washing powder.

"The table will do, thanks love." She smiled at him, flicking her long brown hair out her face. "So, how comes you're here? You seemed to just be staring at the door."

"I - um - I'm looking for Blaine Anderson. I don't know which number he lives at though. Do you know if he's in?"

"Oh Blaine, the poor kid. I saw him take his guitar out this morning so I don't think he's back, probably busking again. But if you want to come back when he's in, he lives in 3C, the apartment above mine actually."

"Thank you so much. Right, I best be off, I've got something I have to do."

"Thank's for your help Kurt, you've been a star."

Come back later? No, Kurt was going to go there now whether Blaine was there or not. When Kurt knocked at 3C no one seemed to be in. Luckily for him, he had used hair pins in his perfect coif today and also luckily for him, his father had taught him to pick a lock.

The sight that met him was enough to make him feel sick. This was everything Blaine had been hiding from him. It explained why he never let Kurt come here. The front room and kitchen was just one small and cold room. There was no furniture or electronics, just a beanbag on the floor by an open oil drum with charred wood and ash in the bottom which looked and smelled like it had held a fire. Everything was so dirty. The bare walls were covered in mold, developed from the damp that immediately hit you as you walked in.

"Ugh!" He gagged, seeing a dirty needle and a white powder wrapped in saran-wrap laying on the counter top in the kitchen. He opened the fridge. It was bare aside from a pack of beer and a pack of bacon marked Blaine in a black scrawl.

He immediately knew which room was Blaine's. It was bare with just a mattress on the floor covered with a thin sheet covering it but this was not how he identified it. On the walls, aside from the bubbles of damp were lots of pieces of paper. Sheet music. Lyrics he'd written himself in his familiar handwriting. "Oh Blaine." He whispered, tears forming in his eyes.

"K-K-Kurt?"

"Blaine! Oh thank god." He threw himself at the figure standing in the doorway. "Where the hell have you been?"

"I've been - I - Wait, what are you doing here?"

"I broke in," He admitted sheepishly, "I just had to see you... Blaine, why are you crying?"

"I'm so sorry Kurt." He wiped his eyes with the sleeve of his coat. "I told you, didn't I? I told you months ago this wasn't a good idea. My life, it'd so fucked. The truth is - the truth is I lied okay? I don't have that job, they took one look at me and told me to leave. I still have to go out busking for money, music is the only thing I'm good at. My parents, they think I go to this great music college and that I live in a great apartment, I could never even bring myself to tell them I'm broke and alone with no job and no hope of ever becoming a musician. I cant tell them I blew all the money they gave me on paying the rent for this disgusting flat I share with a homophobic, alcoholic, drug addict! This is why we cant be friend's Kurt. I'm a fuck up and I'm fucked up."

"I don't care," Kurt whispered, tears forming in his own eyes. "Just come home with me, you can't stay here." Blaine shook his head. "Then I'll stay here with you."

"You can't."

"Then just for tonight."

He took Blaine's hand pulling him down onto the mattress. "It's going to be okay." He whispered. "I promise."

This was really good. I just want to give Blaine a hug and tell him that everything will work out. It was nice to see Kurt not back down and to go to Blaine when he was ignoring him. I thought the moment where he told Blaine that he would stay with him was the sweetest. I can't wait to see what happens next.
