Kurt stretched, back arching as he raised his arms above his head. A shiver like a drop of ice cold water shot down his spine as he watched two soft honey-hazel eyes burning into the back of his mind. He reached up to push his fringe out of his eyes. Before he could even let out a much needed yawn his door flung open and Rachel stood in the doorway, hands on her hips, flicking her long brown hair over her shoulder and shrieking furiously.
“Kurt Hummel! Why didn't tell me you had a boyfriend?"
"Wha-?" he rubbed his eyes, pushing himself on his elbows to sit up. "Rachel what are you on about? Its 7.am, let me go back to sleep."
"This!" She waved a paper in her hand before clearing her throat "Kurt, I cannot thank you enough for last night, B.",
"Shit, Blaine!" He shot out of bed snatching the paper from Rachel’s hand and scanning it for himself.
"Blaine?” Rachel raised her eyebrows.
“He’s a friend; I-It’s a long story.” He looked down at the note once more. “Look going to be late back tonight.”
"Again?" Rachel rolled her eyes, following him into the kitchen. "For goodness sake Kurt, you've been every night this week. I came home from Finn's early just to see if you were okay, you've barely been eating, going to the gym constantly. I'm getting worried. I know being in the fashion industry has it's pressures but-"
"-Rachel stop!" Kurt held up his hand, waving a slice of bread in the other. "Look, I'm having toast, see? And I'm not going to the gym, there is just... somewhere I have to be."
-
“You’re back again?”
Kurt rolled his eyes. “Well you left without saying goodbye.”
Blaine looked up from where he was knelt collecting up the money in his guitar case from his day’s busking. “So you came because you wanted a goodbye?”
“Actually,” He clutched the strap of his haversack pulling it up further onto his shoulder. “I wanted to buy you coffee… Hey, where are you going?” Blaine was walking away… again. “Why do you keep trying to walk away from me Blaine?”
“Look,” Blaine snapped, pulling his arm out of Kurt’s grasp. “I don’t think this is a good idea.”
“Why?” Blaine opened his mouth and closed it again but Kurt just looped his arm through Blaine’s again. “Well you can tell me over coffee can’t you?”
They were huddled in the corner, warming their mouths with hot coffee and cream. Kurt swallowed, looking over his cup. "Look, I owe you an explanation."
Blaine clicked his tongue in amusement. "For kidnapping me?"
He reached up, pressing his fingertips into his temples. "You're roommate, I just... he's... I couldn't let you..."
Cautiously Blaine leaned over and brought Kurt's hands down, holding them in his own. "Look, he's just a dick, there's no need to worry about it. Thank you though."
A pink flush began to stain his cheeks as Kurt grinned at him. "I-I should be getting back," He stammered, "it's getting late."
"Oh." Kurt's beautiful smile dropped. "Do you want me to drive you-"
"-no! I mean, thanks but for once it isn't raining and I think I'd like to appreciate the stars tonight." He stood up, reaching in his pocket for his wallet.
"Its on me." Kurt insisted. "I better be going too."
Blaine opened the door for Kurt, gesturing him to go. "Thank you, for everything Kurt." He whispered before walking off in the opposite direction.
The club was noisy, music was blaring through the enormous speakers, vibrating the packed dance floor as Kurt pushed his way through the sweaty crowd, making his way to the table where Rachel, Finn, Mercedes and Sam sat. "My round of tequilas, as promised." He called over the noise, hips swaying to the music as he placed down the tray of drinks.
"Tina and Mike called while you were at the bar." Rachel shouted, leaning into him as he took a seat between her and Mercedes. "They’ll be meeting us at 10."
"Rach, you haven’t forgotten I’m leaving at half 9 have you?" Kurt asked, playing absentmindedly with the bright pink straw in his glass. "I'll finish this drink then I should get going."
"What?" She screeched and Kurt watched her flick her long brown off her face for what Rachel would call 'added effect.'
Sam who had been fairly quiet so far, arm protectively wrapped around Mercedes, leaned forward looking directly at the brown coiffured haired, blue eyed boy. "Bro, if I may interrupt what looks like would have been a great temper tantrum from Rachel but she was telling us earlier that you've been going off every night till late for about 2 months now, I mean, you're not doing any dodgy business are you? If you were in trouble you'd tell us right?"
Kurt snorted into his drink and Rachel reached around the back of Mercedes to slap him over the head. "I appreciate you caring Sam but no, I’m not doing anything dodgy or illegal. I'm just going for coffee."
Mercedes exchanged wide eyed looks with Rachel. "You're leaving your friends and a night of clubs and alcohol for coffee? Okay, who are you and what have you done with Kurt?"
"I wouldn't go if it wasn't important." He protested.
“So,” Finn turned to Kurt, “ you've been going for coffee every night for the past 3 months? Just coffee?”
“Yes Finn, just coffee.” Kurt snapped, “Now if you excuse me I have to go for just coffee.”
"Hey, you."
A soft voice made Blaine look up from the medium drip he'd been staring blankly into for the past 10 minutes.
"I was beginning to think you weren't coming."
Kurt ruffled the unruly curls, sticking out in every direction. "Like you'd care if I didn't, fuzz ball."
Blaine’s mouth twitched into a small smile, "I wouldn't." he said coolly. "There's your Grande nonfat mocha."
Kurt sat opposite, taking the cup Blaine pushed towards him. He blinked slowly, large cyan eyes looking up at him through light brown eyelashes. "You know my coffee order?"
"Of course I do."
“Here you go boys.” Leroy laid two pieces of banoffee pie in front of them. “You two are become my favorite regular customers.”
Blaine simply rolled his eyes. “Well somehow Kurt keeps persuading me to go for coffee with him.”
"For the past two months?” The corners of Leroy's mouth twitched into a smile.
"He doesn't understand the concept of no. I think he's a little spoiled."
"Hey!" Kurt giggled, elbowing Blaine in the side. "Blaine?"
"Mm?"
"Do you think that falling in love is easy?"
Blaine put down his cup, looking thoughtful, nose scrunching. "Well it depends how you look at it."
"What if..." Kurt hesitated slightly, "What if it all ended badly and it ruined the friendship and the memories they built up together?"
Blaine watched as Kurt took a quick sip of his coffee, tongue flicking over his soft pink lips, capturing white froth that was lingering in the corner of his mouth.
"In the end it’s about whether that person is worth risking it for and I mean, what’s life without a little risk? And love for that matter."
"I suppose." Kurt let out a heavy sigh. "No matter what happens you have to hold onto the good memories don’t you?"
"Kurt what's this all about?" Blaine asked, shifting in his chair. "Are… are you in love with Rachel?"
"Okay," Kurt said slowly, lips pressing together to form a thin line. "I'm going to give you 10 seconds to retract your question and pretend you never said it or you will have a very bloody end."
Blaine sniggered. "I'll take that as a no then."
"Well seeing as I’m gay, then no."
"Me too." Blaine squeaked.
Kurt gasped, "What?"
"Gay. I am too.”
“Oh.” Kurt turned his head to look out the window but there was a rather big smile stretched across his face.
"Why have we never discussed this before?" Blaine asked. "And how did you not realize I was gay? The night we met my roommate was calling me a faggot in front of you."
Kurt flinched, "Please don't. You cant say that word so casually."
"Kurt, it's part of life." He reached over, taking Kurt's hand. "I know its horrible but we can't avoid these things forever."
"I just, I really care about you Blaine and when you say that word, I just can't bare to think he called you it. I can't bare to think you live with that guy."
"I really care about you too Kurt. Look, I was wondering, after you've finished your coffee, maybe, um I could take you out for something to eat? We have coffee every night and I wondered if, well, they have those late night food places and, you know?"
"I'd really like that." he breathed, trying to hide the smile behind his cup as he took a sip, gulping back the warm liquid.
