Hi everyone! So first of all, I want to thank each and every one of you for sticking with story the last seven months. Its been a crazy ride and Im so grateful for your support. I never would have had the motivation to finish this without you, so thank you. Im really glad I did, because I have loved every bit of writing this story.
I asked what you wanted me to do from here. A sequel, one-shots, or a new story and most people wanted a sequel. I kind of wanted a new story, but I think I like the idea of a sequel, because a new story would cause too much of my attention. Im currently trying to write a book and Im letting fanfiction get in my way too much. Oops. But its been wonderful, so thats okay. I just need to take a step back and work on the characters Ive already formed here, not start over, because itd be a whole new setup, so a sequel it is! But dont worry, Im still going to try to have at least a weekly update for you.
Now as for the sequel, I didnt do much with the epilogue, because youll see where theyre all at when I update the first chapter. Its going to take place a few years from now. Like... seven or so? I have a rough Idea but I like getting your input. So if theres anything you want to see in Kurt and Blaines future, let me know and Ill take it into consideration. :)
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you for your support on this story. I hope the sequel doesnt disappoint! I hope to see you there. Xoxoxo
"And with that, I now declare you as the legal parent of Annabelle Rachel Hummel."
The words rung through Kurts ears but he could hardly believe it. He glanced over at Blaine with tears in his eyes and Blaine gave him a reassuring smile.
Six months. It had been six months and the adoption had been finalized. A weight felt like it has been lifted off his shoulder. There was nothing else to worry about. Belle was completely and legally his.
"Oh Kurt, Im so happy for you!" Rachel gave him a warm hug and kissed his cheek. "Its been a long process but its finally over."
Placing his hands on her shoulder, Kurt firmly said, "Thank you, Rachel, so much. Im still so grateful that you did this for me."
"Id do anything for you," Rachel smiled.
"Youre okay then?" he asked.
Nodding Rachel said, "My best friend just finalized an adoption to a little girl that deserves him very much. Why wouldnt I be happy?"
"I dont know," he raised a curious eyebrow. Rachel had been handling things very well. She stopped going to therapy a month after Belle was born. Living with Sam and watching Belle whenever Kurt and Blaine offered it to her was enough to keep her emotions Kat a decent level.
Stepping next to Rachel, Blaine said, "I think this calls for a celebration."
Relocating to Rachel and Sams apartment, Kurt, Blaine, Sam, Rachel, Belle, Carole, Burt, Leroy, Hiram, Pam, and Cooper got together for a meal that Rachel has prepared earlier that day.
"Can you believe Belles already six months old?" Rachel asked, as she handed Kurt a stack of plates to set the table.
"I know. It seems like just yesterday that she was born," Kurt said, taking the plates from her. "I still cant thank you enough for giving her to me."
"Kurt, you cant spend the rest of her life thanking me. I already know it means a lot to you. I see how special Belle is to you," Rachel smiled. "I see the glow in your eyes when you look at her."
"Shes just so special to me, you know?" Kurt said quietly. "I never used to think Id get to have a family but the last six months have been so incredible."
"Im really happy to hear that," Rachel kissed his cheek. "You deserve happiness."
"You do too," Kurt replied. "Im really happy that you found this Broadway role."
"I know. Its a minor character but I cant expect to be back on top after quitting my last role due to pregnancy," she shook her head. "No one will want to hire me."
"Youll get back on top in no time, trust me," Kurt patted her back in comfort. "Its okay to start out slow though. You have all the time you need for yourself now."
"Until you and Blaine decide to have another baby and blow me up again," Rachel rolled her eyes at the thought.
"Would you?" Kurt said quickly. He cleared his throat and added, "I mean, Im not saying today or even in the next three years but... if Blaine and I ever decided to have another baby, would you help us?"
Biting her lip, Rachel said, "I guess so. At least this time, Id know from the beginning that it wasnt my child, so the pregnancy wouldnt be nearly as stressful as Belles was."
"You are truly the greatest, Rachel. I dont know how I ever got lucky enough to have a friend like you," Kurt said truthfully.
"I feel the same way," she smiled, hugging him. "I always knew in high school that we were best friend soul mates and look at us."
A loud cheer came from the living room and Kurt rushed in to see what was so exciting. "Whatd I miss?" he asked.
Laughing, Burt replied. "My granddaughter just figured out how to scoot herself forward. Watch." He pointed tin Belles direction across the room.
Belle was on her stomach, slightly propped on her arms knees as she rocked herself forward. If was such a simple movement, and yet such an improvement to her usual struggle to move during tummy time that Kurt felt tears well in his eyes. "That is so sweet," he said.
A hand gripped his shoulder and Blaines voice quietly said, "One of her many firsts."
Kurt turned to face Blaine and hugged him tightly, wrapping his arms around his shoulders, "Im so grateful for all the firsts weve had in the last few months."
"Me too," Blaine said proudly. He had recently begun taking the courses he needed to become a musical therapist. In the mean time, he had found a job in the pediatric ward of the hospital to work his way up to that point. He was now far more confident in his career decision than he had been in the time Kurt had known him. Blaine seemed truly happy.
"Im also really glad that we have such a supportive family," Kurt smiled at the people before him. Carole was sitting in the floor trying to coax Belle forward. Burt was on the edge of his seat mumbling, "Come on, come on," while Pam beamed down at her grandchild in fascination. Rachel entered the room and smiled at Kurt and Blaine. She made her way over to Sam, who gently kissed her cheek. everyone was fitting into place as a family.
Blaine took Kurts hand in his. Giving it a gentle squeeze, Blaine and said, "Im really glad I have you."
"I really love you," Kurt whispered. In in the crazy atmosphere that had become their life, Kurt found it so important to remind himself that he wouldnt be in this position without Blaine. They had struggles along the way, but theyd get through it together come what may.
"I will love you until my dying day," Blaine softly sang in his ear, before he met Kurts lips and the world around them disappeared.
