It started at Kurt's lunch period today when he was on his way to his locker with Blaine, who had recently joined McKinley High School due to complications at Dalton. As they walked down the hall, hand in hand, they talked about the number Kurt was going to perform in glee club today. He had earlier decided on "Seasons of Love" from R.E.N.T., but he changed his song to "Big Spender". Blaine had admired his decision to take on a more raunchy song, and the thought of him singing one of his favorite songs made Blaine blush.

He quickly pecked Kurt on the cheek, removing his hand from Kurt's in order to pull him closer.

"What was that for?" Kurt asked.

"You're just so cute," Blaine said.

They had reached the area of the hall that lead to the bathrooms, when Blaine stopped dead in his tracks.

"Kurt," he began as he pulled away, "I'll see you later."

He gave him a pat on the back as he motioned his head forward.

Before he could say goodbye, Kurt turned forward only to see his father, Burt, standing in front of him with tear-filled eyes, a red nose, and flushed face.

"Dad," Kurt said, "what's going on?"

The only answer that was given was Burt running towards his sun, pulling him into hug. Kurt had no idea what was going on as his father sobbed deeply into his Marc Jacob's jacket.

"Dad!" Kurt screamed. "What happened?"

Burt turned up to look him in the eyes. As much as it pained him, Burt managed to say in between sobs, "There's been a horrible accident."
