Early 30's, stay at home mom to a preschooler and a toddler, lover of fanfiction since before many of you were born (Probably '96-'97ish? Early teens for me.) My first fandoms were Touched By An Angel and Ever After. Since then I added M*A*S*H, then discovered the fandom that brought my husband and I together in Lord of the Rings, which added Pirates of the Carribean and Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series by way of following associated actors' work. Then on to Phantom of the Opera (Proud member of the Society of RAOUL - Rabid Admirerers Of Underrated Lovers). Those were pretty much it for years until I discovered my great love and still my primary fandom - Doctor Who! I spent years carying about no other enough to look for fanfiction about it. (I discovered Buffy during that time, but Buffy fic is disproportionately really bad compared to other fandoms and I got too frustrated) Just this last year Supernatural sparked my interest enough to get me out of the Who rut a bit. And then, one day, ET.com had a fan favourite couples tournament and this teenage token gay couple from some show about highschool just barely eaked ahead and beat my beloved Doctor/Rose and I was NOT pleased. Especially when all the comments were saying that one of then had cheated and all this stuff and I was even more irritated so for some reason after sniffling through the posted videos from Doctor Who (for the 5 billionth time), I decided to watch the clips posted for these so called winners and scoff at them. And scoff I did, two teenagers, one of whom sounded like a freaking girl, singing one of my favorite songs about forever love (Come What May) and what did they know, especially if one was a cheater, but for some unknown reason I watched it again, and again, and again, and I started to realise how otherworldly beautiful the 'girly' voice was, and the nuances in the acting, and it started to intrigue me. The next night I had laundry to fold so I decided to pull this Glee thing up on netflix instead of my usual rewatch of Doctor Who or Supernatural... and I sayed up waaaaaaay to late that night. I still wasn't totally sold that first season, but I loved the music (I've always loved musicals) so I kept watching, and as soon as Blaine flirted his way through Teenage dream, that is when I was hooked, and also when I turned into a Klaine shipper. By the time I watched Come What May in the actual show I was crying through it. Funnily enough the freaky girly voiced walking steryotype gay kid I foud so highly irritating in the first few episodes is now one of my fav characters of all time and I listen to his songs on repeat just to listen to Chris' incredible and unique instrument. I have utterly and totally changed my opinion from my first impression and now want to smack 5ish months ago me for being so blind to the awesomeness. Now, if I see Doctor/Rose vs Klaine in another tournament? Yeah, I'd probably still vote for Doctor/Rose, I have an awful lot of years of emotional energy invested into them being my #1 OTP. But it's not going to be a 'Who the heck are those kids and who cares?' thing this time - it will be an incredible painful decision between two of my very favorite OTPs.
